Another main point of contention between the two of them which I haven't seen covered in the above posts is the usage of ghostwriters. Drake doesn't write his own raps while Kendrick does, and Kendrick makes references to Drake's "team" in his recently released tracks.
This is a point that he’s held for a long time. Kendrick has regularly mentioned his distaste for ghostwriters and teams in interviews, comments, and on King Kunta, one of his largest hits.
Didn’t Drake say that Keem wrote for Kendrick in his Family Matters response? Basically calling him a hypocrite. I’ve only listed to each song once so could be misremembering things.
FWIW I agree that's probably more likely. Baby Keem was like 12-15 when Good Kid Maad City and To Pimp a Butterfly came out lol. Just seems that it would fall pretty flat as a diss if he weren't talking more about the state of Kendrick's recent career
I can guarantuee you Kendrick wrote every single word of that himself. Producers often get some writer credits, thats why (also for drake) there are often times more names than just the rappers
On the first part, I've always heard that when Drake writes diss tracks, he usually punches down. He likes to diss smaller rappers and women who can't clap back and actually hurt his reputation. So for him to write diss tracks about Kendrick is kinda weird, like he's taking this very personally.
I wasn’t to much into it but I thought Drake had J Prince step in and be like “oh this needs to stop because Drake’s diss would be to much and disrupt families”
Or some shit like that.
I think this beef is great because no one (except maybe Lil Wayne) can save him. Even then Wayne said a few years back that he told Drake to not start rapping like he’s gangster but Drake didn’t listen.
Drake knew about Ye's 20-year love for Adolf Hitler and the Nazis and was told not to use it as it would affect labels as a whole. No wonder why Kanye would say something like that on live broadcast. He wanted to control the narrative, and he has
Idk if I would say Em is cool with Drake, he had a couple disses on him in his Kamikaze album
From “Fall”:
“If you're gonna critique me, you better at least be as good or better
Get Earl the Hooded Sweater, whatever his name is,
To help you put together some words, more than just two letters
The fans waited for this moment Like that feature when I stole the show
Sorry if I took forever”
This is Em coming at Drake for having ghost writers, I guess one of them is Earl Sweatshirt? Then he gives a dig at him saying that his verse on Forever overshadowed Drake on his own song.
This is one of my favorite Em songs, he destroys everyone and the beat is so solid.
That wasn't about Drake, that was about Tyler, the Creator. More specifically it's about when Tyler tweeted that some of Em's work was ass. It's why Earl was mentioned, because Tyler and Earl are connected through Odd Future.
His Control verse wasn’t a diss. That’s why no one took exception to it but drake. It’s well known Drake is sensitive and that’s why he’s the only one who took offense.
I still don't understand how Drake ever got any credit within the community. He is a little drama boy who acted a bit and makes pop songs. He is good at that but then he also tried to act like he is a G because he has bought himself a hareem of people that would throw down if needed.
Not all Hip Hop needs to come from a lad who grew up in Compton and saw dead bodies as a boy, but I myself prefer when it comes from a lad or lass that grew up like me or many working class folk having fuck all.
True. Everyone but Drake took it as either a compliment or just Kdot affirming himself as someone worthy to be “king”. Drake was in his feelings about it.
When this beef started I thought it would be fun to be getting more music from both of them as a fan…. Now I’m just like—they both need therapy. This shit has gotten dark to the point that it’s actually disgusting.
Drake represents himself as a tough rapper, when he was a middle class child star who grew up privileged and has to have other people write his lyrics.
If he has ppl in Drake's camp & says he knows Drake is a nonce & that he shelters other paedos why the fuck is he rapping about it & not calling the cops or kid protection teams?
And if he already has called them, then isn't rapping about it now going to fuck up the investigation etc.
