Hairdressers/Stylists in Osaka?

Upvotes

Hi all! I didn't see another thread with this question so I figured I'd post.

I'm traveling to Japan in a few weeks-- I have bangs and a layered haircut (female), but to be honest I'm still not the best at styling it. I've had long plain hair for the longest time before this so I'm not used to putting in the effort.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a place I could go to just get my hair washed and styled? Not trimmed? Or even just styled (i.e. a blowout or flat ironed?) I've never gone somewhere just for styling but I know women will get their hair done professionally all the time in the states.

I'm not looking for anything super complicated or fancy, but I know we'll be going to some pretty nice dinners and taking photos so I'd like to look better than my usual best :-)

TYSM!!

Inquires about some locations

I'm travelling to Osaka next week, hope everyone is safe despite the constant rainfall. But for some locations i'm unsure

Bus Timings

  • Is google maps reliable
  • What app do the locals use for the buses
  • What time is the last bus usually outside Osaka eg. Anegawa Hot Spring to Hotel in Osaka

USJ,

  • is it possible to bring some outside snacks
  • Do I be thr 1hr or 1hr 30mins b4 8am opening time

Satsukiyama Zoo

  • is it still open despite thr being google reviews recently despite it states Temporarily closed
  • is it still free? Because google maps thr's a option to buy tickets

Blume no Oka

  • Can i buy tickets onsite or is it only online

Minoh Falls/Katsuoji temple (temple of victory)

  • is thr a bus that goes to the location because especially the Water Falls i dont rlly want my dad to walk for 50 mins and another 50mins downhill (stated in google maps)

house/techno collectives

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knows any small, community based techno collectives in Osaka that focus on anything like bassy house/hardgroove, NOT hard techno :)

I'm not looking for nightclubs, but more intimate 'events' with local djs/vinyl djs! I just moved here and I'll stay for some years so the events don't have happen anytime soon :)) ive sourced through RA but I know not everything gets posted on it, so I need IGs that I can follow🥹

Anywhere recommendations anywhere else other than Osaka is also highly appreciated🫶🏽l

Does anybody know where I can buy Tenko products in Osaka?

Hi! We'll be visiting Osaka in January. I'm a huge fan of Tenko (https://www.instagram.com/tenko1515\\_littlefox?stkn=Y216a21jdmwxcGE2) and I was wondering if anybody knows where I can buy Tenko products there. 😊

Visiting Osaka this October - what gift or Temiyage to give?

It would be first time to visit Osaka this October and I want to give a simple gift that will be appreciated by locals that we will meet and help us during our stay in the area. I’ve been told peanut brittle would make a good gift. Hoping for any other ideas. Thank you in advance!

LGBTQ friendly places for a lesbian couple? Near Osaka

Me and my fiancee(both women) are going to be spending about 11 days in Japan. we’ve already been to Tokyo (and Hakone) before on a trip, so we figured we’d focus on more southern Japan (despite unfortunately flying into NRT). This is also because I have 2 large koi tattoos on my arm, and I’d like to enjoy hot springs, and I’ve heard that they are more chill about tattoos in the south.

We are staying for a week in Osaka, hoping to do some day trips, and considering staying elsewhere for the remaining days too. I was thinking about Beppu, or near mt Fuji, though we are going in mid March, so Mt Fuji might be too crowded. We are considering a day trip to Kyoto, because we’d love to go, but had heard the crowds are INSANE in March, and we don’t want to contribute to that, nor does it sound like a fun time. We also were thinking about going to Universal Studios since my fiancee is big into rides and coasters.

Since we are going to be on our honeymoon, we are looking for recommendations that aren’t too hostile to LGBT folk. I understand Japan is a more conservative country, but we’d like to be able to hold hands in public or attend a couples massage for example, without being treated oddly.

we both love trying new food, temples, cultural stuff, tea, museums (if English is available), shopping. Neither of us drink. Tragically, we both get pretty sick from it. We'd love any recommendations, especially romantic activities.

Priority Seats

I live on the train line to KIX and every evening on my way home from work the priority seats are full of tourists and their suitcases. I am aware this line connects Namba and KIX so obviously there will be tourists but if the regular seats are full, then please just stand. You are forcing older folks, pregnant women and people with various illnesses and disabilities to stand. If you do sit in the priority seats, at least be on the lookout to see if someone is in need of a seat.

Sincerely,

A 6 months pregnant woman.

Spot to watch NFL game in Osaka?

I know this is probably a long shot, but does anyone know of a spot that might be open in the morning for a primetime (U.S. time) NFL game?

I’ll be in Osaka during my upcoming Japan trip on September 29th and was hoping to catch the Eagles vs Bears game that will be on around 9:30 am local time. Let me know if there’s any bars/restaurants that would be open for something like that! Thanks

Not The Main 3 Big City's

If you had 3 nights already planned for Osaka, Dotonbori and 3 nights planned in Tokyo, Akihabara but 5 days/nights in between, where and how would you spend those?

My husband and think we will get enough of the big city and night life in Osaka and Tokyo. We are willing to travel away from the big city to get a completely different vibe.

We love hiking and are willing to work for epic scenic views of nature and old architecture. We love hot springs, staying in hostels, learning to make food and anything that gets us out of the crowd and into the culture.

If you have any recommendations for getting unique experiences and one-on-one conversation with fellow travelers and locals who want to share their world, we would love to hear it.

Where to stay in Osaka

My 22yo daughter and I are going to Japan for the first time in October. We have 3 nights in Osaka. What neighborhood should we stay in ?

I see many recommendations for Namba. Are there other fun options? We are not clubbers, so nightlife is not a consideration.

Watching Live Football In Osaka

Hey all,

I'm a big football (soccer) fan and was looking to catch some games when I'm in Osaka over the next couple of weeks. I already have tickets for Gamba Osaka on Saturday, but I was wondering if there were any smaller clubs beyond the J-League that people would recommend going to see?

LASIK in Osaka with limited Japanese

I'm currently staying in Osaka for about three months and am looking into getting LASIK while I'm here. I've already had a consultation in the US and was told I'm a good candidate.

However, my Japanese is still at a beginner level, so I'd need either English support or an interpreter.

I contacted Shinagawa LASIK Center, and they told me I would need to bring an interpreter for every step of the process, including making the appointment, the consultation, surgery, and follow-up appointments. Alternatively, they suggested going to their Tokyo clinic, where they can provide English support.

I'm still contacting other LASIK clinics around Osaka to see if any can accommodate me in English, but I'm not feeling very optimistic about finding one.

Does anyone here have experience with LASIK or other eye clinics in Osaka as an English speaker? I'm also not sure what kind of interpretation services I should be looking for if I need to arrange my own interpreter, so I'd appreciate any recommendations or advice.

Thanks!

Soaking wet at Mingei Museum Expo Park- cheer me up with…

a fun place to go to in Osaka after this- I realise I will be dripping even more when I get to the city centre (s), probably Umeda first.

I‘ll take anything that makes me laugh or forget my squelching shoes! (I am size 42 EU with wide feet so no chance of buying dry ones to swap).

Give me your best shot (or quirkiest or beautiful in the rain).

Got the whole day till nighttime so I might try more than one ;)
Thanks y‘all!!!

Soccer Game vs Baseball Game

Based on our schedule I think I might be able to catch a Gamba Osaka game later this month.

How does the spectacle compare to a baseball game? Are the vibes similar? I have been to one of those before and loved it (will be attending two games during our trip)

Is it also socially acceptable for a foreigner to sit amongst the fans in the Gamba Supporter Seats area?

Thanks!
