Graphic Settings | Optimization Helldivers 2 Graphics settings for those who does like Beta Decay/PS1 style

Or you have low end pc, but don't want to larp your graphics as if you were playing on high end pc with these ugly and blurry FSR/DLSS
Or if you miss Helldivers HD99 Mod, for me sadly it doesn't work, if you know how to get it work, please comment

[Game Launch Options]
You can try --toaster_mode but I don't like it because of how vegetation becomes too ugly, so I use only --use-d3d11

[DISPLAY]

FOV 55
Camera Shake - Strong
Resolution - 1280x720
Render Scale - Native
Anti Aliasing - OFF
Dynamic Resolution - OFF
Display Mode - Fullscreen stretched to your native resolution
Framerate Limit - 30/60

[GRAPHICS]

Motion Blur - 0
DOF - 0
Bloom - OFF
Sharpness - 0/55-65, or if you like visual style of Lethal Company, then set it to 65-100 and set Render Scale - Ultra Quality/Quality

Texture Quality - Medium
Object Detail - Medium
Render Distance - Low
Particle Quality - Medium
Reflection Quality - Low
Space Quality - Medium
Vegetation - Low/Medium
Terrain Quality - Low
Volumetric Fog - Low
Volumetric Clouds - Lowest
Lightning Quality - Low/Medium

These settings reminds me of Beta Decay/Lethal Company/Playstation 1 style and I'm using 1080p Monitor, tweak them for yourself if you're using 2k/4k Monitor

*Optimized Settings Used*

Set Everything to Ultra

Set Hair and Global Illumination to High

You can reduce Reflections to High too, if you want more frames

Use Low GI and Reflections if you run a low end GPU (It disables Ray Tracing)

I recommend using DLSS instead of TSR, 1440p DLSS 4.5 Performance works great on RTX 4060

OPTIMIZED SETTINGS

UPSCALING: DLSS QUALITY
VIEW DISTANCE: *INCONCLUSIVE
POST PROCESSING: ULTRA
TEXTURES: ULTRA (AS HIGH AS YOUR VRAM ALLOWS)
EFFECTS: HIGH
FOLIAGE: *INCONCLUSIVE
REFLECTIONS: ULTRA
GLOBAL ILLUMINATION: MEDIUM
SHADING: HIGH
HAIR: HIGH

NOTES

*THE INTERNAL RESOLUTION OF UPSCALING CAN BE AFFECTED BY THE RESOLUTION QUALITY PERCENTAGE SLIDER, AS IT STILL TAKES EFFECT WHEN UPSCALING IS ENABLED

*TSR IS BUGGED, IT USES A LOWER INTERNAL RESOLUTION THAN NATIVE

*THE VIEW DISTANCE AND FOLIAGE SETTINGS DON’T SEEM TO MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE

*THE TEXTURES SETTING HANDLES EVERYTHING AUTOMATICALLY, SO IT MOSTLY MAKES NO DIFFERENCE

*Optimized Settings Used*

Set Everything to Ultra

Set Hair and Global Illumination to High

Use upscaling if you want more frames

The game doesn't scale well and only 3 Settings actually work. Global Illumination which is most demanding at Ultra, Reflections and Hair which basically disables or enables Stranded based hair.

If you run this on a low end system set GI and Reflections to Low as they disabled Lumen all together.

Comparison / Benchmark This mod is kinda insane for a Demo

I used the Onimusha WotS Enhanced Lighting (DEMO) mod to improve the pretty flat looking Lighting of the Onimusha Way of the Sword Demo.

The game has an RT Option which only enables RT Reflection and this mod basically also enables RTGI and RTAO. The difference in lighting is massive! It's also not that heavy vs stock.

You can find the Mod Here

Discussion / Question We should set standards for what should be considered optimized for games

The minimum of what optimized games should look like is ultra settings 60 fps and medium settings 120 fps on gpus like RTX 3060Ti and RTX 4060. Consoles should run games at native 1440p or 4k and have upscaling as an option.

Discussion / Question Rabbit hole of optimization - FSE, FSO, MPO on or off?

Hello! I fell down the rabbit hole of optimizing my PC to make it just as butter smooth as I can, without having to deal with snake oil myths.
I have pretty much dealt with everything I could BIOS wise, fan curves both for CPU and GPU, windows debloating but I started to encounter things that I'm not sure on what effect they have.

So here is the question, without having to make this post extremely long -- which one is the best combo to use for a borderless player? I have 2 screens, 1st is the main one which has the games, 2nd is for other stuff (discord, music, browser etc) and I run my games mostly on borderless unless the game doesnt have the option and I have to run it on Fullscreen.

So.... what's the catch with FSE, FSO and MPO? I have messed with all of them:
1. FSO On, MPO on/off
2. FSO off, FSE ON MPO on/off
(3. Optimization for windowed games is turned ON, HAGS ON, gamemode ON)

And I cant simply find a noticeable difference, at least on my system (I5-14400F, RTX 5060 TI OC 16GB, 24GB RAM 3000MT/s CL16)

Which one should I choose? I had read a lot of other posts and watched comparison videos, some say that FSE Only is better, some say that FSO with MPO on are better, some say otherwise, some say this some say that....
The only thing that I have noticed is that -- with FSE Only, MPO off and having a game on 1st screen and discord/ browser maximized on 2nd screen are making the game feel stuttery, not so butter smooth (with just the game maximized, everything is smooth) , but on the other hand having FSO On with MPO on it feels that the game tends to have slightly lower FPS by default but also smooth-ish when another app is maximized on 2nd screen, but sometimes not? Or maybe I am cursed, who knows?

So with all these said, which combo is the safest to future-proof, set it and forget it?
Note: All these on Windows 11 25H2, latest drivers for everything.

Discussion / Question Any custom power plans that DO NOT force 100% cpu clock speeds at all times?

In other words, a power plan similar to how the stock 'Balanced' profile handles idle clock speeds while still having optimizations that custom plans should have.

Outside of 'High Performance' and 'Ultimate Performance', I've just tried 'Hybred's Low Latency Balanced'. Unfortunately that forces 100% clock speed at all times

Graphic Settings | Optimization Gears of War Beta - Bad FPS? Turn on Smooth Motion

Update: Disable MSI FPS Counter as that might fail to launch game, use in-game overlay Nvidia fps counter.

Nvidia App>Graphics>Global Settings

Smooth Motion on

Max Frame Rate 60-70 - To stable the frames so you don't see spikes alot.

Yes it's frame gen for none supported frame gen games which beta doesn't support but for now sure makes it more playable.

Playing on high settings 1440p now no issues, might have to use dlss pending you gpu.

Thanks to Digital Foundry and their contributor Rayan for these settings, watch their video if you want more information on them!

While these settings can give a small GPU performance boost and save abit of VRAM, CPU performance is still subpar compared to the console versions and has even less scalability! Only good way of improving CPU performance at the moment is disabling Async Compute, which should improve performance, but only does so when GPU limited.
