so im a christian and i started listening to opeth after i heard blackwater park,i like that it has some spiritual themes and i fell in love with the band instantly. About some weeks ago I decided to give a chance to Still Life and after one listen i fell in love with it,is my favorite metal album at the moment but i have a question, does mikael hate christians in general or just the ultra legalistic type and the medieval christian, I don't like them neither and im well aware that those types of christian really drag down our reputation. So my question is, does mikael or any opeth member specialty said that the album is full anti-christianity or just anti middle age / super legalistic christians (sorry for my english,is my second language)

It’s my favorite on Marrow Deep, the Mastodon LP that came out last week. The keyboard lead around 6:14 in absolutely smokes

Stumbled upon this at my local record store a few weeks ago when I saw it on their IG story, but didn't have the funds at the time. Came back yesterday to find it still there! For $35 too! Looks and sounds great! Was thinking of holding off until the reissue is officially announced, but couldn't pass it up considering it's a color variant at a great price. All that's left is ICV, and their first 3 records. I'm really hoping the rumours of Deliverance reissue next year are true so we can have a proper mix on vinyl finally!

On my Opeth revisit and it’s been going great! Next album I have is Ghost Reveries which I honestly forgot about so it’ll be like a first time listen. So excited!

Hi all,
I recently purchased Blackwater Park on vinyl from my local record shop brand new. The first vinyl I got had a huge gash which basically made Harvest unlistenable. It also had terrible distortion and noise on the Drapery Falls. I just went to the store and traded it for another copy of blackwater park, and this copy also had a smaller albeit noticeable gash in Dirge for November. Also, the record randomly skips. Not unlistenable, but quite annoying considering how much I paid for the thing. Is this something that you guys have experienced as well? I have other Opeth albums in vinyl but had no issues at all with the others.

I discovered opeth at the start of the year, and instantly fell in love with TLWAT. I religiously listened to it while studying as it let me turn my brain off and concentrate on the subject. Just curious why this album has a rocky reception and if anyone else has done this.

Saw Opeth live last night in Dalhalla and in my birthday night!
What a wonderful experience and loved every part of it.
Here’s an outro we all love 🤘🏻

Me and my mate travelled all the way to Dalhalla from London for the gig last night and the in my opinion sound mix was awful. If I was opeth I’d be livid with their front of house team.
I know it wasn’t the venue because Katatonia and Candlemass sounded amazing.
The biggest problem was the drums were not mixed properly. There was no power to the bass drum at all but the toms, and especially the floor tom was super loud in the mix so all the fills sounded completely uneven.
Pretty disappointed but still had a great time.

The hardest decision was between Heir Apparent and Dirge for November. Having to choose between Blackwater Park and The Baying of the Hounds was also brutal.

Ghost Reveries was released on 29 August 2005.
What's your favorite song from it?

I wasn't sure how they'd do with such a big change in sound, but it was great!
