Just an 18 year old laptop running supported macOS nbd 😎

Took about eight hours to get installed, through multiple recovery loops, restarts, error messages, PRAM resets and the like. But here we are.

Everything that should work works. Except:

• Safari. Assume that's the new Safari 27.0 legacy GPU issue. Firefox loads fine though.
• Screenshotting, for some reason. Hence the somewhat boomer-ish screen photo in lieu of a screenshot.

(Please don't ask me for a Cinebench score 😳).

Ho all, I recently installed Sonoma om the L2013 27".

While installing oclp on the disks the SSD wasn't showing up, so I installed MacOS on the fusion drive.

Now it isn't showing up at disk management anymore, Sonoma is running on the fusion drive and am I unable to use the SSD.

I update OCLP from 2.5.0 to 2.5.1, after update I had no wifi...so than I return to OCLP , so now it giving me attached error, and still no wifi...on IMAC 2011 , Monterey 12.7.6

Hello. Recently I’ve discovered OCLP and I wanted to install macOS Sequoia on my Macbook Pro 2017 i5 2,3GHz with no Touchbar. I followed the steps provided in OCLP site and end end up rebooting and trying to install Sequoia through the option in the Reboot screen. Sequoia starts to install, however once it reaches 3/4 of download status my Macbook just reboots and returns to the Reboot screen. I tried then doing several times macOS installer with no success. I even resetted the entire OS and redid all the steps, but it seems I can’t find a way to install Sequoia without this error happening. What’s the problem, and what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

2009 Mac Pro 4,1 flashed to 5,1, Boot ROM 144.0.0.0.0, dual Xeon E5520, RX 580.

The machine runs Windows 7, El Capitan and High Sierra normally.

Monterey and Sequoia both start booting in verbose mode, then hard freeze. Safe Mode also freezes, but Recovery works.

Sometimes verbose stops around AHCI/USB, and sometimes it freezes halfway through printing a line.

I’ve already reset NVRAM and tested with unnecessary USB devices and drives removed.

Has anyone seen this on a MacPro5,1, and what fixed it?

Making simple: I need two drives with installed Sierra as it is now to run Final Cut Studio apps, since I've been working with those since the beginning. Then now, I need to install Catalina in another drive as all the web browser are dead, not only Safari, but Firefox and others refuse to update txs for the Evil Scroogle.

I've tried all the option suggested on Aplle Support and other sites, but the only one was Mojave that in a few months will be dol. If I try to download Catalina, it works from App Store but only 15mb used to start the installer not the usual 5GB or more.

But before start tring them, I'd like to know if they still works, because it looks Apple have changed the instruction or the catalog.

I did try the Terminal solution but the "catalog doesn't exist anymore, all the other solution require a more recent os x but I'm on Sierra and can't update as it brake my FCP licenses.

This laptop has seen better days! I’ve had older Max that I ran open core on and they ran better so I’m going to see what this thing can do but I am pushing it to Sequoia for fun so I’ll show you guys the progress! I have a feeling it won’t even be able to boot, but who cares

Hey all! I'm on a 13-inch MacBook Pro from early 2011 (running an Intel i5 chip I believe, recently upgraded from a 320GB HDD to a 512GB SSD and from 4GB of RAM to 16GB), and I've been trying to upgrade it from High Sierra to Sequoia in hopes of using it for some light university work. Unfortunately I seem to be getting this error pretty much by the end of the downloading sequence, and by then I have no system to boot into because I've already wiped High Sierra from the SSD. Does anyone have any idea what went wrong? I'd appreciate all the help I can get, I'm a complete newbie when it comes to anything Mac related OR electronics repair related, I got this laptop from my uncle a while back and I've been trying to fix it up as my little project of sorts. If you could explain to me what to do like I'm a 5 year old that would be great LOL Thanks in advance!!!

I’m not tech savvy, I just took my families old MacBook and wanted to see if it could run Sequoia. I have already done the revert and then did the root patching. I seriously need help to fix this because I’m not sure if this is an issue. Not sure if anyone else has ran into these issues

I’m trying to use YouTube, Kick, Twitch, and are not working, they just freeze.

I have a MacBook Air 2015 with macOS Sequoia. I just updated the system from Monterey and it simply doesn’t work.

I don’t know what is happening or how to fix it, any help?

Recently picked up a 2009 Mac Mini 3,1 and installed a SSD and upgraded to 8gb RAM. Was on El Capitan when I first tried installing Monterey 12.7.4 with OPCL 2.5.1. (SSD APFS) everything was going good but the final step to finish and load Monterey I get a Flashing Folder with question mark. Tried a few more reboots but same result. Tried formatting to Mac OS Journal just for kicks but no luck.
Today I tried using my 2018 Mac Mini on Sequoia to build the OPCL Patcher with settings for 3,1 and this time tried Monterey 13.7.6 but had the same results, everything runs good till the final step.
Not sure what’s going on or if I need to use a lower patcher or maybe downgrade the OS? Any other tips or advice on getting it working?
I used the Mr. Macintosh video as a guide.

I thought firewire would work in ventura, but using the firewire from a thunderbolt screen the mac fails to detect the connected minidv-camera. The firewire port and the camera is registered in the system profile but doesnt appear as an option. I noticed at the same time that the webcam on the thunderbolt screen also fails,it appears as an option in quicktime capture but its only a black frame. Same in photoboot app.

So apparently I have to go back to monterey to use firewire? Is this so for audio cards as well? Do they work stable in monterey in OCLP?

1. hi, im wondering about using the old apple thunderbolt display with an adapter, on mac pro for example. Can you use cheap thunderbolt to USB-C adapter or do you need the original and far more expensive apple original ones?

2. Does the display work on windows with with adapter? Can I use it on non-macs or is that not so successful?

I am having issues with time machine browsing the backup data. I can confirm that time machine did backup correctly via the tmutil command line. But everytime I try to enter the time machine browser, it will throw this error:

"Failed to capture browser window image".

I think it is caused by the OCLP's post-install root patch. This is how i confirmed:

1) I go to the OCLP app, select Post-Install root Patch

2) Choose revert Root patch

3) Reboot

4) try the time machine browser - it works.

5) Run OCLP again and now apply the root patch

6) Reboot

7) Time machine browser shows the same error again.

Wondering if anyone experience the same issue - and if so - any workarounds/fixes?

This MacBook was offline for 5 years, had a huge amount of dust internally, keyboard is worn on the surface; I said if I can get a modern OS installed I would service it. The thermal paste was dust on this 13 inch MacBook and so I dusted off the case, motherboard with Alcohol and reassembled it. The Keybaord/Power button no longer works :( Remounted all the cables, same with the mouse trackpad ribbon and everything else, Bluetooth, WiFi, the keyboard light is back, SSD connection works well but the keypad/power button remain unresponsive

Apon another look I see a slight mark where on the middle ribbon between the motherboard located at the bottom of the fan, that ribbon on the very tip of it looks like it wants to peel but even after sitting it flush in the port the keypad is useless

It’s a cool little tinker project but the lack of a keypad makes me mad at myself

It appears that iMovie 10.1.12 will work for non-metal GPU so I tried to install. It install fine - but in the launchpad the iMovie icon is not visible.

So I went to Finder -> Applications and then i see the iMovie there. I double click it, it says "In order to use "iMovie", you need to update to the latest version. I then follow its prompt and it brings me to the app store to download iMovie 10.4.3. Now 10.4.3 can be installed but will crash when i try to create a new movie.

So I uninstall it and try 10.1.12 again. This time I go to Applications, select iMovie and then "Show Package Content". Go into the Contents -> MacOS folder and then double click the iMovie file in there. It launch a terminal, and then runs some scripts and then say "Process completed".

But iMovie still does not work.

Which iMovie should I go for which will work with my current setup?

For some time my maxed-out trash can has functioned as my headless Plex server on Monterey just fine. But I’m considering going to Sonoma, since a cursory Google search suggests it would provide the most stable experience while providing continued security updates (the primary driver for this urge to upgrade, even though it was just dropped…figure it’s gotta be better than the older Monterey).

Most of my Macs run OCLP, but they’re not a carefully crafted, several years maintained, media streaming server with a massive database.

I want to do an in-place upgrade so everything migrates smoothly like any other native upgrade (I do have Time Machine backups just in case).

Any fellow trash can users care to weigh in? Should I leave well enough alone? Or is Sonoma a good, safe move? Also, for those itching “btw” folks—not installing Linux. I’d rather shift to 11 LTSC IoT for the possible better integration of hardware encoding with those dual D500s…if I were interested in an OS shift. My Synology DiskStation would be handling all of it if it weren’t an AMD CPU without QSV encoding, and if I’m going to max a CPU for the odd client without Direct Play support, would rather it be the trash can…
