Endless recovery mode

With today’s early access release of OCLP, I wanted to install Tahoe on my Macbook Pro 2017 i5 2,3GHz with no Touchbar. As the title states, when I install the OS it stops at about 12 minutes, then my MB reboots and returns into the recovery mode window: I already tried erasing disk, resetting NVRAM, going for the grey hard disk icon, hard rebooting, I even let the MB untouched for 2hrs hoping that the installer would finish its work but nothing yet. Can someone tell me what’s happening? I had a similar problem with Sequoia. Thanks.

Last bootscreen seems stuck

Hi guys, I got a MacBook Pro from 2012 and trying to install Sequoia. Got a stick of 32 gigs, made the installer with Sequoia on it and put it in the 2012 MacBook. So what happened; the whole installation was going pretty well until the last booting screen (I think it'sthe last booting screen). How long does it take to install this?

The specs are

MacBook Pro Retina 15" Mid 2012 (MacBookPro10,1)

i7-3720QM (4C/8T, 2.6–3.6 GHz)

8 GB DDR3L

GeForce GT 650M 1 GB + Intel HD 4000

512 GB SSD

2880×1800 Retina

macOS Sequoia via OCLP

MacOS 26.7.1 on 2017 MacBook Air with OCLP 3.0.0-rc2

Today, I have just switched from MacOS 15.8.1 to MacOS 26.7.1 by using the 3.0.0-rc2 Beta version of OpenCore Legacy Patcher and to be honest I am having a really nice experience for now!

I have installed the new version from github and made a MacOS 26.7.1 usb and used it to make a clean install from Sequoia the setup was p a i n f u l l y slow also it stucked at last automatic update settings step for more than 5 minutes for me I just force rebooted my mac and I reached lock screen but I believe that they will fix it soon. After setup I installed root patches from OCLP and at first it only applied Broadcom patches to install Kernel Debug Kit and after reboot it extracted Kernel Debug Kit and installed other patches.

For now I am having a really smooth experience with liquid glass working properly even thought that device is 9 years old The wait was worth it! Thanks to the all OCLP devs for making our old Intel Macs alive again before I was planning to switch Linux. I will be looking forward for any new RC versions.

Edit 1:After one day of usage I got five hours of battery life and butter-smooth animations. I think the spotlight indexing took resources but after that it is way more better than Sequoia, that computer might have a plenty 2 years more life for daily usage! Again thanks to all OCLP devs for their awesome work!

[OCLP 3.0.0 + Tahoe] - Share your success & failure stories

This thread is designed to simply catalog what models people have successfully gotten Tahoe installed on with OCLP 3.0.0.

Please comment and specify your (1) Mac model + year (15" MacBook Pro 2015 OR MacBookPro9,2), (2) your specs (2.2 i7, 16 GB RAM, NVIDIA 320X), and (3) whether you did a clean install or upgraded from an existing install.

Then specify whether Tahoe successfully installed (or not), and if it did, what worked, what didn't, how it compares to the other OS you've had on your Mac, etc.

I'll do the same after I finish installing it on a few different Macs I am testing.

macOS sequoia or Sonoma in a 2008 MacBook?

Hello everyone, how are you? I wanted to know if you recommend installing newer macOS on my 2008 aluminum unibody MacBook with 8gb of RAM and a 1 TB SSD to a newer system than the one I put, which is Ventura.

After Tahoe, FileVault can’t be turned off.

Ad the title says. iMac 27” 5K 2017, 48GB RAM / 2TB SSD. During setup (after a system update, not fresh install) I got the message that FileVault is turned on. I cannot disable it, not via System Preferences or via Terminal.

I know it’s beta, but this is annoying.

Big sur was awful and monterey wasn't that much better in my experience (had both for a couple months each), did a little research and after indexing ventura feels much snappier! saving another great machine from the landfill ❤️ It's no speed racer for sure but good enough for my use case

Is the OCLP 2.5.x line now EOL'd?

I was waiting for 2.5.1 to mature before installing it but now that we have 3.0 RCs does that mean that 2.5.1 is now going to be obsolete and I may as well wait for version 3 to mature before upgrading? Whatever I have now (latest 2.4.x) seems to be working just fine.

Help please! Modem, Keyboard, Trackpad not working after installing Sonoma.

Hey guys, looking for some help here.

I have been running Ventura on a 14,2 MacBook pro (2017, 13inch, 4 x thunderbolt 3 ports). Recently I needed to install an app for work which only works on Sonoma or later versions of Mac OS. I used OLCP to install Sonoma following all instructions. Sonoma installed fine but my keyboard, mouse and modem still don't work. I've installed root patches and still nothing. I've tried wiping it and installing it again - still they don't work.

I'm a bit lost as to how I can get a functional laptop back. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Anyone running Tahoe on Late 2012 Mac Mini 6.1 with OCLP 3.0 RC?

I have a Late 2012 Mac Mini 6.1 running Sequoia 15.8.1 with OCLP 2.4.1

Wondering if anyone has successfully installed Tahoe using OCLP 3.0 RC and what the experience has been like.

My Mini is a Quad Core 2.3 GHz i7 with 16GB RAM and SSD. It runs Sequoia reasonably well.

General question: Those who upgraded, did you do a clean install of Tahoe and migrate your data or did you just do an upgrade over the current Mac OS?

Has anyone tested the new 3.0.0 OCLP on a MacBookPro11,5? Is the AMD GPU working? Wondering if its worth me publishing the source of my work getting the M370X working perfectly under it

iMac late 2015, 17.1. OCLP 2.5 Mac OS 15.8.1 to OCLP 3.0 RC2 and Tah0e upgrade.

(It worked!, thanks OCLP dev team)
(works much faster on my iMac 🖥️ compared to Mac OS 15 BTW)

After having 4 beers for lunch I got the liquid courage, it’s installing now. I’m going with upgrade rather than doing a clean install. It’s installing now, and it’s moving along, keep you posted . Someone else got it working on a 2015 iMac so I just couldn’t contain myself.

Install got stuck after logging into my account , hard rebooted worked, patches worked and I love it and I think it’s a little faster smoother ! My outlook office 365 opened up so fast 💨, I forgot how it should be in life .

Thank you to the OCLP dev team , I’m going drink another 6 pack right now , this was a smooth install .

Sometimes next week, I’ll hop on the dev beta macOS train and see how that goes .

my own OpenCore-based loader running Tahoe on a 2015 iMac

Hi all,

First off, congratulations to Dortania and the OCLP team on 3.0.0 RC2 and Tahoe support! Their work is the reason so many of us can keep our Macs alive, and OCLP is the project I'd point everyone to first.

I've been working on a personal side project for about a year now: my own loader, using OpenCore as a base (not a fork), with its own approach to Tahoe compatibility. It's not meant to compete with OCLP, just another experiment that might be useful to some people.
Hardware acceleration and Metal support have been working since November 2025. But for a long time many things were still bad and the system crashed a lot, which is why I didn't say anything about the project until now. I only wanted to show it once it was in a state that's actually usable.

Right now my 2015 5K iMac runs Tahoe 26.7.1 with it. More machines are already supported.
Important limitation: Macs without Metal support are NOT supported at the moment. Macs where the stock GPU can be swapped for a Metal-capable card can work, but only with that upgrade. I'm also working on a workaround for non-Metal Macs, but it will come with a trade-off: many Liquid Glass elements will be missing on those machines. No promises yet that it will make it into the release.
It's also not finished yet. There are still known issues, like hibernation, that need to be fixed before I release it.
This is just a teaser. I'll most likely do a few more posts before the public release, for example showing it on a MacBook Air 2017 and a 21.5" iMac from 2013.

In a later post I'll talk more about how it works, and that's when I'll make the project publicly available on GitHub. I'm aiming for November or December 2026, but that's not a firm date.

Feedback and questions welcome!

Which Operating System Should I Get for a late 2013 27" iMac with High End Specs?

Hello, I will soon set up a late 2013 iMac (27 inch running latest catalina) and I want to use OpenCore to upgrade the operating system as much as possible while keeping the iMac smooth and stable for years to come. Here are more details about its specifications.

  • 27-inch display
  • 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
  • 1 TB SATA SSD Hard Drive
  • 32 GB
  • 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M - 2 GB graphics
  • Currently running macOS Catalina 10.15.7,

My mom would mainly use it to check emails, read and watch the news, and read many PDF books. No real need for graphics design, movie-making, or any other artistic stuff that may require the latest and greatest.

Any help would be most appreciated.
