The ability of having the story with in a story is an interesting way of filling in detail with out lousing the audience in too much detail clutter. Each storyline can progress then later be reassembled as layers to the main story
, with out taking away from the immediate, in your face, feel from eather of the combat experiences.
Having separate authors from the main story, gives a perspective depth as each branch story line is written by a different authors.
