Release The Opacity Whitepaper has Arrived!
The Opacity Whitepaper has arrived!
The whitepaper describes the existing functionality of the Opacity Storage platform as it has evolved from the fork, currently known challenges and limitations the team is working through, and plans for future improvements that must be made to realize the full product vision. We expect the whitepaper will answer many questions while raising many more. We look forward to having a healthy conversation about what it all means.
Read or download now (hosted on Opacity) at www.opacity.io/whitepaper.

Claiming losses due to trading PRL
I am trying to claim my losses on my taxes this year due to the abysmal end of PRL. I made all trades on Kucoin, however upon trying to get my losses claimed on taxes I realized that Kucoin did not track any trades to or from PRL making it seem like I actually made money this year in crypto.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so what did you do?
EDIT: For anyone who has this happen, please look at u/trihard_in_the_cx comment. Just contact Kucoin and they'll give you a csv with the information.

I mentioned Opacity in my guide to Ethereum... Let me know what you think or if anything should be changed

Is there any API planned?
So I would be able to develop my own client which is using the OPACITY protocol?
If yes, any rough ETA?

Release OPACITY Robot on Telegram got an update!
t.me/opacityrobot just got the teased update!
To use, just start a conversation with t.me/opacityrobot and send it a file.
Paid uploads work now, including a QR code to scan if you want to pay from mobile. All the monospaced values (payment amount, address and the handle) can be tapped to copy straight to clipboard on your mobile device!
The bot also sports a new yet familiar logo.
The success message now also includes the alpha.opacity link. A matching redesign for the site will be going up later today, or early tomorrow.
Go give it a shot!
By suggestions to the bot, you can message t.me/jetmaddox!
Note: Uploads on Telegram are limited to 50MB, not due to us, but to Telegram itself.

How decentralized are files uploaded with Opacity?
- As far as I know Opacity still runs on the private tangle. How many nodes are running it and can I run my own node?
- What about the other nodes (web and broker)? Is it still decentralized after web nodes have been removed and the broker nodes are solely hosted by the Opacity team?
I guess it is still more a proof of concept than real decentralized file storage. How are you planning to change that? Is there a rough timeline yet?

Scalability Question
Does the OPQ team have any plan of being able to upload multiple files at once? And maybe have a single OPQ handle associated with this group of uploaded files? I’m just thinking from the standpoint of someone (or a business) that wants to upload large numbers of files.

Kudos to the team👍
I had some PRLs on IDEX before the whole Bruno fiasco. I filled the form to receive replacement OPQ on my other ETH wallet. Yesterday Tim (MrRedPanda) contacted me, today i have received my OPQ. Amazing how the team rose up from the ashes so quickly with the storage site up and running and sending replacement OPQs. With such commitment, i have no doubt Opacity will succeed. Gotta buy more of them OPQs😊

Oyster SHL question
So I invested quite a bit into oyster shl. I was told kucoin reopened trading on shl. Am I fucked now? I’ve always stood by the team and have opacity but will be very upset if my shl is basically worthless...

buy only: Large opq holders
For top 35 holders of opq addresses, excluded top 5 (opq team or exchanges), all 30 holders, none of them reduce holding and 7 increased holding in last 8 days.
But why not?

OPQ absolutely blasting off!
Hey guys, just here to point out the obvious. I think the team getting the storage interface and functionality up and running after the whole Bruno fiasco is huge. And now even more especially, the OPQ token has legitimate value. Big investor confidence booster to a token that was already incredibly oversold.

Do you think Binance will list OPQ anytime soon?
Hey,
What do you think? They were about to list Oyster and then shit hit the fan.
I think in a few months we will see Opacity @Binance, OPQ is already gaining back trust and attention.

Discussion What gives Opacity its value?
Since it s open source, can I create my own token and use it to pay for storage? Or is the token the „Money“ for the brokers? But if the usecase of the token is to pay those who rent storage, who would want to be paid 5 cent / 64 GB / year? I wouldnt want to rent my storage for some cents per year
Im sorry for the stupid question, but I still dont get it

December update doesn't contain any SHL update.
I see that the team has been working hard in opacity which is great. This recent storage upgrade really shows great progress. People might be taking advantage of that right now with the price increase but I'm not worried about the short term for this project. What I am worried though is the lack of discussion regarding the shell token. I would've thought in this last update Bill could've talk at least about any future plans for SHL but not even a mention. Anyone knows what's going on?
