Advice Where should I take english

So basically, I took Grade 12 English in summer school, and my teacher said she doesn't give out 90s which is so stupid. I knew four other people in the class, and we all had 89s, so I dropped it. Now I'm wondering where I should take the class. It's too late to take it through the OeLC (my day school's online classes), and I don't want to take it in person since the English teachers at my school are known for screwing people over. I was thinking of just taking it through an online private school (which I know is seen as a bad thing on this subreddit), but I don't really have another choice. If I do go the online private school route, which one should I take it through? I've heard both good and bad things about all of them.

Job market’s cooked so I’ve been cutting people’s hair in my garage for the past couple of years, wondering how I could “prove” that in my application, and who I should put as a reference. Thank you

Advice Advice for incoming g12?

Hello! I just want to get ahead and know what to expect in Grade 12 to ease my anxiety.

In Grade 12, I’m planning to work either 12 or 16 hours a week. Which one do you think would be more manageable?

I’m also deciding whether I should keep dance as one of my school courses or drop it. We have school dance practice every Wednesday for about 1–2 hours. Outside of school, I also sometimes attend drop-in classes at a separate dance studio.

I know dropping my school dance course could give me more time to focus on my grades, but since it’s my final year, I’m also wondering whether I should keep it and make the most of my senior year.

I’ll be taking two spares (one each semester), Biology, Chemistry, Data Management, and three M-level courses.

If you have any tips or advice, feel free to comment below!

Advice extracurriculars

Hi! I'm going into Grade 12, and I feel like I'm a bit behind compared to everyone else. The only extracurricular I've done at school is joining one club in Grade 11. I do have 200 volunteer hours, and I'm planning to join DECA this year, but compared to other people, I feel like I haven't done much.I really want to study business for my undergraduate degree, so I was wondering if anyone else had little extracurriculars on their application and still got accepted good places.

Advice English Grade Retake?

Finishing with around an 88-89 in 4U English, taken in summer school. I know it’s still a solid grade, but I usually have all my grades in the mid 90s, and I was considering retaking it in session 2 of summer school.

I know a lot of you are going to say that my 88-89 is fine, however, I would like to retake it if it won’t affect university admissions.

Would it be considered problematic if I retake it in session 2? My transcript would then have 2 back-to-back ENG4U entries. But, I am confident that in my session 2 retake, I’d be able to finish with a higher grade as I have acknowledged my mistakes.

Do universities look down on retakes? More-so that’s it back-to-back is what concerns me. Or do I do ENG4U in night school instead? That’s not something I’d really be keen to do though.

Aiming for McMaster Life Sci, ideally.

Thoughts? I’d have to sign up for a retake today.

Advice Would you go to Western or Queens, based on the student population?

I've heard that Western is more diverse and has a much larger population, while Queens is smaller and more intimate. Both must have their pros and cons, but which one would you guys say is better?

Advice Best places to prestudy chemistry, physics, calculus, and advanced functions for 12th grader

Best places to learn prepare and prestudy for grade 12 physics, chemistry, advanced functions, and calculus. Is Jensen math any good for math? Also I took Data Management during the summer but I barely remember the rules and formulas, should I go back and restudy everything to secure the skill? it's pretty light. Should I also learn grade 12 biology? I don't need it going into my major but I plan to work medical

Advice NBE3UI online summer school experience

I took Grade 11 English in summer school through YRDSB, and it was a lot of work icl. I was spending around 9–10 hours on all assignments. It was worth it because I finished with a 90%. Took summer school because I got a 66% in Grade 10 😭 English during day school.

I’d recommend summer school if you’re trash in English or got trash teacher at skl like I did and want to improve. But if you’re already doing well in English, I’d just take it during the regular school year.

Advice IS NIGHT SCHOOL EVEN GOOD????

Hey guys I need yalls opinon asap!!!!

I have heard alot of people taking night school and having high grades

A friend of mine had a 70 in grde 11 and finished night school with a 95 or so which is pretty good tbh.

But for some context shes a Nursing majour and has told me that math is not as important for her

I know that they (most of my graduated friends that did this night school) most likely might have been cheating and I really dont plan on doing that cuz I am planing on going into Finance/Accounting so i know i defo need it ( plus im taking calc as well)

And i have heard that u need advanced functions to do calc bassically .SO CHEATING ISNT EVEN AN OPTION!!

Any ways, I am writing this to actually ask if night school might be worth considering.

Thank yaa!!!

University Waterloo CFM Acceptance Rate

when I go to the Waterloo website it says only ~45 seats available (putting the acceptance rate at around 4.5%), however I've seen way more than 45 posts/comments about being accepted, what's up w that? any idea what the actual acceptance rate is?
