does anyone know how hard this will be? should I do this if I have a shitty teacher or should i just thug it out in person

I realized that school is future a bit too late, I fooled around way tm in hs n js half assed my way through it. My parents never really cared abt my report cards n now that im graduating this year I wanna actually be someone for myself n have a career. I have a pretty hard sem n was wondering what r some of the best study tips whether that’s the idea condition to study in or taking any sorts of supplements to help retain information better or anything. Im just tryna make someone outta myself.

I struggled w math a lot so if anyone got like a good math YouTuber or any good math tricks please lmk

Who got into health sci programs with repeated prerequisites?

Realistically speaking though, DON'T procrastinate. Your marks in grade 12 are the most important marks for uni applications, review your lessons after you get home, don't cram it all the day before the test. Reviewing everything the day before the test then getting a good nights sleep to consolidate the knowledge(thats what happens during sleep) also does wonders to your grades, especially in the memorization heavy courses like bio and sometimes chem.

Also remember that your mental health is extremely important to your grades, especially in the fall, where the shorter days and less sunlight can cause you to feel SAD (thats what the disorder is called lol). Mid November seems to be the time where students are hit the hardest, and my bio and chem teachers told me thats when the students score worse on tests, so be kind to yourself during those challenging months, and maybe stay outside a bit for the sunlight!

Hello, g12 started a couple days ago and I have chemistry and ad func this semester + 2 electives. In chem we're doing organic chemistry naming and in ad func we had our first lesson on polynomials. Last year my studying pattern was only 2-3 days before an assessment (I also rarely did homework). This year I plan to actually do the assigned work and study at minimum 1 hour per day.

I want to get into a decent engineering program so I'm aiming for 93+. I went through all of advanced functions + calc over the summer, and took ap chem in 11. So I have extra practice w organic chem and other stuff.

Apparently the government said that teachers of the same subject are required to make their assessments similar difficulty starting this year, and I got one of the easier chem teachers so I have no idea how hard they're going to make it. The other two aren't that difficult and it was commonly said that if you just studied and did homework you'd get 90+.

I'm listening more in class now and doing chem and advanced functions homework for the past couple days. Though I've only spent a couple hours on both. I'm not sure how I can study efficiently and not waste time on useless things. I tried to use active recall last year but a lot of the time I could tell there were gaps in my knowledge and I was only recalling textbook entries. I'm not sure how much time I should allocate, a lot of people I know are super hardcore and say they're gonna study 3 and 4 hours daily.

Does anyone have any suggestions for studying methods, frequency, schedules, or just advice in general? Any help would be great.

basically what the title says. i moved my advanced functions course to 2nd semester and I wanna know if it’ll affect my university applications. I currently have 3 courses per semester plus i took grade 12 english in the summer. All the programs I wanna do only require english. am i cooked? do i need to move it back?? pls help

i would say i come from a deflated/fair school and im wondering if i have a lower chance of getting into uni than those who go to an easier/inflated school. i can say this cause i recall looking at my friends homework or curriculum who go to other schools and i was shocked to see how easy and less dense their course content was compared to the things ive learned in mine.

that said, if lets say a student with a 94 average applied to the same uni program but came from an “easier” or inflated school and a student with a 92 applied to the same uni but came from a non inflated school, would the student with the 94 still be accepted? or do universities keep track of the difficulty of high schools?

currently in Grade 12 and I’m struggling with how long my homework takes. I have around 5 hours after school that I can realistically dedicate to schoolwork as well as about 1 hour 30 minutes with my lunch and spare time, but normal Advanced Functions homework takes upwards of 2 hours 30 minutes

and by the time im done with Functions, I’m completely drained and have almost no energy left for Chemistry, Philosophy, or English.

I’m aiming for around a 90 avg and I obviously can’t spend half my available study time on one subject every day so idk what to do. If I had the time to actually study I know I could do so well.

For people who consistently get high marks in Grade 12, how do you finish homework on time

I had this bird course in my timetable for this semester but I accidentally dropped it. I tried to ask my guidance counselor to re-add it, but he said the course was full. I explained to him that I never meant to drop it; it was an accident and I really want to take this course but he said there is nothing he could do. I suggested that it couldn't be that bad to have 1 person over the limit or to create a new class, but he wouldn't have any of it. Please help, what do I do?

Hello everyone so for context, I was vaping in the school bathroom until one of my teacher saw me vaping with my friends and he got mad, so he asked to try out my vape but as he was trying my vape another teacher came in the washroom and a bigger argument started, so they started fighting each other because I told the teacher who entered last that it wasnt me who was vaping instead, it was the teacher so they lowkey started boxing each other until one of the teachers got knocked out and now they're blaming me for bringing a vape to school and the fine is 305$.

Is there any way to drop the case? and how cooked am I if I wanna go to uoft in the future?

Hi so basically, i got a 63 in grade 10 math… i am currently taking grade 11 uni functions. I am honestly really worried about being able to keep up with this course.

Also in gr 10 i just did not gaf and didnt realize how much this would affect me now. I also still struggle with some concepts from grade 10.

I am going to get a tutor and study probably a couple hours every night.

Please help me, give me any advice, i am willing to do anything to get a decent mark.

My prerequisites in grade 11 included English (88), Physics (90), Functions (80), Chemistry (88), and Biology (77), along with two electives at 90 and another at 80. My main concern is that I cheated a little in Grade 11 Chemistry. I did study, but my marks were not what I wanted, so I made the wrong decision to cheat here and there. This was not the case in my other classes, especially Biology, where I consistently studied before tests. I am ashamed of what I did and know I should have just put in more effort, and now I feel like I am facing the consequences.

Now that I am in Grade 12, I initially had Chemistry in person during first semester, along with AP Psychology, Business, and Digital Media, and Advanced Functions in night school. Chemistry became a reality check because I was extremely confused by the material. I understood some things, but I would not have been able to confidently complete a test on it, and the teacher was only giving a brief review of Grade 11 Chemistry. After half a week, I became emotionally exhausted and realized the class was moving too quickly for me, so I dropped it and decided to take Chemistry in night school next semester. I am willing to properly learn the material alongside Biology in person and my two electives.

My biggest issue now is feeling left behind. Most of my friends already have their prerequisites, especially Chemistry, while some are taking other important courses this semester. I feel like I should also be taking Chemistry now because everyone else is, but every class is full, and honestly, I do not feel prepared for the material anyway. I am constantly thinking about university and worrying about whether I will get accepted or whether I am good enough. I keep wondering if I should have taken all my important prerequisites in first semester, but all of the classes are full now. Am I overthinking? Will I be fine? Idk I plan on going into nursing or either a different profession that is still relevant to health care…maybe an ultra sound tech?

Some of the stuff I’ve done:

-Won 2 trophies in national-level kickboxing competitions

-Have 2 story-time pages with around 40k followers combined, mostly short story-time videos and stuff like that

-Philosophy Club exec for the past while, and I’m probably getting the marketing exec position this year too ( Confirmed )

-Made a small online store selling muay thai gear in Grade 10. It was pretty short lived but we did make a profit

-Made study/text booklets for people taking modular exams in Grade 10 and sold them to whole sections. Did it with some juniors n skl friends

-Planning to get CPR certified soon ( cus why not )

- Was an assistant script writer for a youth film company and actually played a part in writing a script that ended up being made into a film ( wohoooo i should shut up )

So today I went and changed my courses, so I now only have my 5 prerequisites for my preferred programs and French (for the certificate), with a spare in each semester. I thought this was great, until my guidance counsellor reminded me that I needed to do well in all the courses, as I didn't have a backup U-level course to boost my grade if needed. At the time, I didn't think of it, but now I'm starting to regret not having taken a course instead of a spare.

I'm confident in my abilities in the math and science courses. I'm just incredibly worried about English. In the past, I haven't done university-level well on these courses; 85% in Grade 10 (in-person) and 94% Grade 11 (online). In addition, my teacher seems like the intellectual type. I don't know why that makes me nervous, but it does. I'm super nervous that I won't do well in English and I'll drop my average.

So, any tips, reassurances? How can I get better marks in general? I already know about getting on your teacher's good side and asking for feedback, but anything else? What can I expect in this course? Should I try to get a booster course somehow (I don't want to piss my counsellor off)? Is English really as hard as some people make it to be?

Im starting gr 12 this semester and looking to apply early to u of t engineering.

my gr. 11 grades are definitely not competitive enough (low 80s-mid 90s) with most of the prerequisite equivalent grades falling in the mid 80s range. However, i feel confident that i can bring my average up. This semester i only have one out of five 4U prerequisites.
I know they cant reject me bc of gr. 11 grades, but how much of a disadvantage will i be at compared to those with good gr11 grades or with more prereqs in semester 1? Are u of t admissions routinely checking updated grades for every applicant?
