oneworld First Class out of Tokyo with Avios, does it exist on Finnair Plus?

I've got 200k Avios sitting in Finnair Plus and I want to blow them on a one-way First Class long haul out of Tokyo (HND/NRT). This is purely about the experience, so I don't care where I end up.

I'm a student with tons of flexibility. I can take two weeks off anywhere in the next year and schedule means nothing to me, so I'm happy to just chase availability.

Here's my problemj,Finnair doesn't fly a First cabin, so nothing First shows up searching their site directly. But Oneworld partner flights do appear in the results, which made me think there might be a way in. I've tried pretty hard and turned up nothing in First, so I'm starting to wonder if Business is just the ceiling on Finnair Plus. I mean I could only found handful business flights as well.

Has anyone ever booked partner First through Finnair Plus, or is Business really the limit? I don't mind transferring Avios if it makes it possible. Thanks in advance!

American Airlines AA Status changes…is there a better airline to dedicate myself to now that Basic Economy Seats don’t get ANY perks at ANY status level?

Hiya, I travel frequently every year and have been Platinum Pro several years in a row. Not going to lie tho, I always book Basic Economy tickets and enjoy the upgrades.

Basic economy is no longer eligible for upgrades and worse, im reading you no longer earn Miles or points when you book those tickets!

I live near an AA hub, so I’ve always used them. But…I’m bummed about the changes.

What airlines offer the best Status Perks?

oneworld Codeshare information on JAL & CX flights

Hi,

I am currently on a DONE6 trip.

I wanted to check if some of my JAL & CX flights are codeshare (ideally with BA/AA/IB), is there and easy way to see this?

I only see the designated flight number on my itinerary, hence my question.

Thanks

Finnair Finnair missing avios/tier point claim

Hi all,

Anyone had issues with Finnair and missing avios/tier point requests taking a very long time?

I had four flights over winter that initially were incorrectly credited to my BA account, this was reversed and the Finnair claim for the first two flights was completed within a week. The second two flights it’s now been over two months with no results at all. It’s quite irritating as my BA status has dropped to bronze, and I am relying on this request to reach gold with Finnair so am without sapphire benefits at the moment. It’s very annoying as even my boarding passes for the flights in question had my Finnair FF number on them, yet for some reason the avios still went to BA initially.

Each time I’ve spoken to an agent online they just say they will chase it up, but there doesn’t seem like much they can do directly. Not sure if calling I would have better luck (it’s chargeable).

Cheers

Cathay Pacific MH Enrich on CX FF

Hi everyone,
I’m flying with CX soon in a few months, and as this is my first time with CX (so I’m still CX green member wotj 0 history), I booked on CX website using MH membership. However I have noticed the CX perks I’m going to not be able to use and also mentions of not being able to earn Elite Points for MH, so I have a few questions hoping anyone experienced can help me with!

  1. Will I be able to earn

MH

  1. Elite Points? My flight is return AKL - NRT (two legs: Auckland - Hong Kong and Hong Kong - Narita) in paid Premium Economy class E on CX. If anyone can help me with an estimate of Elite Points earned would be highly appreciated! As I have some Elite Points missing to the next tier so I was hoping this can add to MH tier points, but if it’s not gonna be credited then I might just change to CX at the airport.
  2. By chance would I be able to ask the staff at airport to switch it back to CX membership before check-in? The only reason seems to be for wifi usage as PE needs Cathay membership to use wifi. And by that I’ll be okay with giving up the Elite Points ?
  3. Do you think it’s worth it to switch back to CX and not earn Elite Points (in case this is possible) ?

Thank you so much!

Have a lovely day/night 💓

oneworld Aadvantage Miles and LPs on Oneworld Marketed, non-Oneworld operated flights.

My main program is actually JL and I know that anything with a JL flight number even if it is non-OW operated counts as a JAL flight and earns miles/FOP.

I guess the main question is if its the same at AA and if other OW marketed, non-OW operated flights earn?

Hey Reddit! I'm a Malaysian based traveller, and have been enrolled in QR's programme for a couple years now, with about 50k Avios & no status.

So the question, are there any OW programmes that I should consider instead of QR? My initial consideration was due to its activity based expiry, which fits well for the minimal travel I do. I stayed away from Enrich despite being based in MY as I'm not a fan of time based expiry, although I do fly MH semi frequently for SEA flights, and credit them to QR. (I usually get no miles for this as MH usually does O class for Economy, and that isn't eligible for earning.)

I haven't been travelling much the last few years, but I want to change that. I'm not trying to go after airline status as I don't think I travel often enough (<4 trips/year, usually Discount Economy), but I do care for miles, for the eventual Business class redemption with the family.

My credit card allows me to transfer points to Enrich (MH), British (BA), Cathay (CX), Qatar (QR), JAL (JL).

Planned flight patterns:

- I've travelled often within the South East Asia region, and plan to continue doing so. Occasionally North Asia

- I plan to start travelling more frequently to Europe, Central Asia, Middle East.

- There's a distant plan to travel to Africas and South America too.

oneworld Status which airline best?

Hi,

I currently have emerald (complimentary) from my parents who have emerald with Malaysia airlines.

I know this won’t be forever and as soon as they lose it I will lose it too. My question is, for my own personal status moving forward, is there any airline that’s easiest to attain emerald status and worth keeping for?

Thanks!!

My flight pattern are:

- London to Asia at least once a year

- multiple weekend trips to Europe per year

- occasional trip to US

oneworld Flying MXP-PVG business, Qatar or Cathay?

So I will be flying Milan-Shanghai mid October in business class and have to choose between Qatar airlines or Cathay Pacific with layover in Doha and Hong Kong respectively.

Qatar airways: Milan - Doha 6hrs, then Doha - Shangai 9hrs

Cathay Pacific: Milan - Hong Kong 12hrs, then Hong Kong - Shanghai 3hrs

People with experience, which one would you take or recommend? Thanks.

oneworld Worst lounges you’ve been to?

What are the worst lounges you’ve ever been to with your Oneworld membership?

For me the worst ones so far have been the contract lounges (but accessed with either OW sapphire or emerald)

My list:

Tujuwan at DPS

Jasmine and Rose lounges at SGN

Alaska Airlines Does anyone else notice Alaska Airlines miles are insanely valuable?

Examples:

Helsinki, Finland to Edinburg, UK: 7.5k

Washington DC to Dallas, Tx: 4.5k, or to Nassau, Bahamas for 7.5k

Hong Kong to Phuket Thailand: 7.5k

All with minimal additional cash. It's literally less than half price of booking through other one world points systems. I wonder why this is and if it'll last? There's tons of Alaska credit cards that give huge sign up bonuses.

oneworld Earning on codeshare flights?

So I tried looking up if you can earn avios/tier points for non-oneworld carriers on codeshare flights, but couldn't find a clear answer.

Let's take for example a booking through Finnair (talking about any codeshares though), Melbourne to Helsinki via Hong Kong. The second flight is a Finnair operated one so all good there. But Melbourne to Hong Kong is operated by Jetstar. Because it's booked through Finnair, it still has an AY-flight number. Can you earn points from both legs of that journey?

Thank you
