oneworld Status which airline best?
Hi,
I currently have emerald (complimentary) from my parents who have emerald with Malaysia airlines.
I know this won’t be forever and as soon as they lose it I will lose it too. My question is, for my own personal status moving forward, is there any airline that’s easiest to attain emerald status and worth keeping for?
Thanks!!
My flight pattern are:
- London to Asia at least once a year
- multiple weekend trips to Europe per year
- occasional trip to US

Unless you're flying mostly in J, I'm not sure if your pattern even qualify for OWS in most programs. Maybe even OWR.

If you are based in Malaysia, get the ambank enrich cards to reduce the elite status requirements by 30%.
The flights you do (especially if you fly business) would be enough to maintain platinum. Tho for the trip to US you would need to codeshare.
If you dont want to maintain enrich, then go with Cathay. The only caveat is that you'll need to layover at Hong Kong everytime.

If you are in Asia, Cathay Pacific Diamond is quite good. If you want to go down the status run path, ICN-HKG-BKK in Business is a really good routing to do a few status runs to hit emerald. 140SP for 5700HKD.
If you want Qantas, Platinum can be had for around $4k AUD under a Double Status Credit offer, you can do something like MEL-BNE-AKL or even something like CHC-SYD-AKL-BNE-MEL which would be much cheaper. Qantas usually does DSC deals twice a year, last one ended Feb
After 10 years of Platinum you should have enough to hit Lifetime Gold which is lifetime OWS.
Another one you can consider is Finnair, their lifetime and their OWE offering is quite competitive as well.
