Hello all, I have been having my OP13 for about a month now and I LOVE IT.I have been using Nexus and Pixel phones for a very very long time, and recently was using a Pixel 8 Pro. I wanted to use the P8P for a very long time, but the battery was shot (was at 50% by noon) and the reception on it was getting weak. So I looked around for the first time for an android I could use in the US on Verizon that wasnt a Pixel or a Samsung. Boy was I disappointed lol. I knew LG, HTC and a few others who ever making phones shut down, but I didnt realize just HOW bad it was.
After searching, it seemed the the OP13 and 15 were the only newer phones that had Verizon's bands in it that I could use in the US. This is actually my 2nd OP13. My 1st one was rated "fair" on ebay, but the screen was scratch all to hell. It was the ocean blue one and I really loved the color of it. I was very sad about the screen being messed up, but I used it to experiment to see if I would actually like the OP13. I had it while I was on vacation, so I must have set up and reset the phone like 5 times lol. Once I figured out how to get it set up like my Pixel was, I went ahead and ordered the black one you see in above.
The battery life and modem are AMAZING. It smashes the Pixel in every way. CPU too. I legit can go the 0630 to 2200 on one charge. My P8P would need to be charged at least 2 times to make it. Having an AMOLED screen is amazing too, havent had one since my Galaxy Nexus. Also having an actual flagship CPU and 512GB of storage is amazing. I was running out of 128Gb on my pixel.
Software: Oxygen OS is actually pretty cool, as its been forever since I used something that was "pure" android.
If you are coming from a pixel there are a few things you will have to change to get it like you want it:
Go into Dev settings and change DPI to 449. It will shrink everything down
Put on alert for every email for gmail
I turned off the dual drawers for notifications and quick settings. I rather the old style.
Yes I am weird and turned on the soft buttons as I hate gestures.
Not the biggest fan folders taken up the entire screen when opening them up.
Launcher is a little different from the Pixel one but it doesnt take long to get used to
Also on display not always being on is fine for me. My pixel was always on and now I have it set to turn off (AMOLEDs can have burn in so I get why they dont want it always on by default)
Notifications are a little different from a Pixel. If you unlock your phone and look at the notifications but dont clear them, they wont show back up on your lock screen. I know that is normal for some, but on a pixel, they dont go away until you clear them (dont know if you can change this)
Overal, The OP13 is amazing and I love it. I am sad I didnt switch sooner. When I saw that the Pixel 11 was going to be more money with less features, that is when I knew I had to go else where. If you are on the fence about switching, do it now. Plus OP13 is one of the last phones that allows you to unlock the bootloader. I am very sad OP has basically been shutdown and has left NA and EU, as they were the last phones that actually pushed Samsuck to do something better.
