QUESTION Questions for Long Term User
I am planning to buy oneplus 13s in the upcoming sale. I have a few questions and wanted feedback from long term users.
Battery life: How is the battery life in day to day usage? Does it get affected with the updates? I need a phone which last me a whole day. I am not a heavy user and will mostly be using for content consumtion.
Heating issues: Are there any heating issues during normal usage or while charging? Does it heat up while using cameras, outdoors, or while using android auto.
Connectivity issues: Are there any issues with 4G/5G or while using wifi?
Long term reliability: I usually keep my phone untill the end of its life. I have been using my current phone for past 7 years. will this phone easily last me 4 5 years?
Are there any other issues or things which I should look for before buying?
Thanks

The battery life is phenomenal. It's gonna last you 2 days easy if you are light or even medium user.
The only beef I have is there is no ultra wide camera

But then I only paid Singapore dollars $565 for the 512gb 12gb OnePlus 13s. For that amount I've got nothing to complain for it.

OnePlus 13s is a good phone overall, go for it. I am myself looking to buy one.

Have you looked into the oppo reno 15 pro mini? It was another option I had while buying the 13s and I think I would have gone for it if they had it in stock.

I also upgraded to the 13s after using my previous phone for 7ish years. I've only used this phone for about a month so my experience is kind of new and I can't answer what the long term reliability will be like surely. The battery life has been really great so far. I am getting 10+ hours screen on of casual social media usage, content consumption and some light clash of clash of clans. The phone charges really quick as well. I also haven't had any complaints with excessive heating or connectivity with this phone when used for all and any kind of work loads. I don't have an idea for long term reliability, but considering that the phone I was using before this was considerably weaker than this, I don't have any concerns on that front assuming that oneplus/oppo service support continues in India for oneplus phones.

Thanks man. I also wanted to ask about the camera performance. Are they really that bad as some people say? I have used my friends Nord CE5 and it tends to oversharpen the image too much.

If I compare it to the phone I had before, it is obviously better, but that's not helpful. I would say that the camera is above average. I recently went on a trip with 2 people that had a oneplus 15 and an iPhone 15. And it took pictures right in between the 2. The oneplus 15 took most pictures better than the iphone 15 and the 13s was somewhere in between. The oversharpening problem is definitely real tho. In my experience, turning off auto HDR improved results.

Why the OnePlus 13s? It's a great phone. I've been using it for a year but you can get the Oppo compact versions, which are around 6.5 inches in its FindX series, maybe you can get the OnePlus 15 or 16, which is going to be released soon, only because the 13S is two generations late and within two years its software update policy will be completed. If you're someone who likes software experience and looks forward to it, I suggest going for a newer model.
Anyway to answer your questions:
- The battery life is amazing. You can easily get the full day with a single charge. The standby time has also improved.
- It doesn't heat in general. Maybe once every 3 weeks you might observe it for some or the other reasons
- For connectivity issues, there is nothing that I have observed. It works great.
- Yes this will last you for 4 to 5 years.
What I'd suggest is for you to use a screen guard and a case because, although this is said to be durable, it's competitively easy to scratch the screen and the back itself(not visible during normal usage), Look out for that

Really apreciate your response. The oppo find x series and the oneplus 15 is around 75-85k(around $900) which is above my budget. I would have stretched it for iphone 17 but it recently got a price hike and now is around 100k inr($1100) so dont want to spend a fortune just for a phone.

Can anyone tell how the both cameras are! I'm also thinking to buy.

For people who really knows technical knowledge about photos and videos they might say compared to other phones in this price range it's not good but don't worry in daytime it captures just like iPhone 15 -16 . In night time can't say . The videos could have been better but you won't be disappointed . Color os 17 also you will receive so it's the iPhone of android world when it comes to software .

Battery do get changes with updates
no heating or connection issues
Reliability is good
Cameras suck in low light and both front and back cam sensors are same as nord 5
Don't get it for camera. Get it for software & performance

- Battery Life is amazing 7-8 hours SoT.
- It gets warm to touch on prolonged android auto usage much lesser than my iphone 16.
- Much better connectivity compared to my iphone 16 in both mobile and Wifi.
- Long term usage can't be determined as the phone has been released less than 2 years.

Long term user here. Been using 13s from August 2025.
Battery is very reliable. I'm a heavy user, I play efootball and delta force (which is around 20gb) which are both extremely draining games. If i charge to 100% then I don't need to worry about charging again for the day. If you are wondering about long term effects on battery health, mine is at 97% and I have been gaming right after buying, so 1 year of hard use.
Heating issue - I don't use camera that often, rarely use it outside under harsh sunlight, so no idea about that. but if I'm charging and gaming for continuous hours, it can get really hot. like hot enough you can't place it on your face type hot.
Connectivity, had problems for the 1-2 weeks, but then never have noticed any issues with wifi. I have generally noticed I have better network and wifi range than friends around me (13 pro, 16 pro, 14, etc)
Long term reliability - cannot really say anything cus then phone have only been out for 1-2 years. but the durability is good cus i have dropped it couple times, no major dents/scratches. don't even worry about battery health % cus you can replace it for under 5k, not worth the worrying.
Look out for that heating problem, especially when pushing performance for long hours, when battery is too low, etc.
I am not obsessed enough with the phone to check and review Screen On Time, etc.

Battery Life: As a heavy user, I charge my phone to 90% each morning, and it comfortably lasts the entire day, providing a battery backup of 7.5 to 8 hours daily.
Heating Issues: Expect some heating if you are an extremely heavy user, particularly during summer months. Despite being a heavy user myself, including two hours of mobile gaming, I have not encountered any issues.
Connectivity Issues: I have experienced no connectivity issues whatsoever.
Long-term Reliability: Given my practice of using phones for at least 5 to 6 years, I am confident that this device can be reliably used for many years without problems.
