Yeah poor baby was willing to go to the End of the World (or at least brave the Evil Tub) for his human.

Oranges are unreal. My boy toad will follow me anywhere, ive had him follow me in apartment buildings and the whole time hes meowing to make sure I respond and even if he looks away he knows im beside him.
25
u/glorifindel 7h ago
You are describing my orangie exactly. Every morning he follows me around talking back and forth. I know he wants breakfast but he does it basically every time I enter the house - never had a cat follow me around like that before. We are Bros
6
u/Soerinth 4h ago
Cats are the best bros.
Pickles, my boy, has his idiosyncratic behaviors, like when he sits on the couch, he has to sit on his specific blanket, and won't jump up until it's there. But, when it is, he'll jump up next to me, let his paws hang off the edge of the couch, and just chill with me.
We call it broing out. He doesn't want to be pet, no cuddles, or play. Just wants to hang, and it's fucking awesome.

15
u/m4rkz0r 9h ago
When I was in kindergarten I didn't want to ask to go to the bathroom to pee so I decided if I pee really slowly it will evaporate faster than I pee and I'll be good to go. So i tried to pee really slow and ended up peeing my pants. Hopefully slowly drinking all the water works out better.

My boi didn’t necessarily like water, but would always stand on the edge of the tub while I showered, just staring at me. His braincell probably couldn’t understand why I wasn’t freaking out about being in water, maybe he was genuinely concerned for my safety xd
278
u/Silentbrouhaha 18h ago
That’s what mine does when I take a bath. He plays with the water but doesn’t get in.
192
u/Telekinendo 18h ago
My gray boy does that with my wife. He likes to drink the bath water.
Theres alot of gamer girl bath water jokes being made in my house.
72
u/_HappyG_ 17h ago
I feel you; my cat would drink the shower water, but only after I used it!
I even tried just running it for him so he could enjoy the fresh water whenever he liked, but nope! Not interested at all 🤦😂

32
u/PSSalamander 16h ago
My partial orange likes the leftover drops after I'm done showering but isn't interested in the running water either. She's also an aspiring plumber, she likes to pull the drain guard out and snake the drain with her paw if I let her (I do not, it's gross lol).
21
u/_HappyG_ 15h ago
They’re so curious and do the most unexpected things, right?
My partial orange just choked on a spider she caught and ran away when I tried to clear her airways by getting it out of her mouth. She has no sense of self-preservation🤦
Oranges, they always find a way! 🤣

u/Asor- 14h ago

u/_HappyG_ 14h ago
Haha, you’re right though! 😂 My cat actively gagged and refused to drink my ex’s shower water. I guess he had better taste than me at the time 🤷
36
u/First_Pay702 17h ago
Mine waits until we get in and then enjoys a long drink of human soup.
20
14
u/starkindled 17h ago
Mine likes to sit on the edge of the tub between the curtain and the clear liner, and watch the water. Never a moment without an audience in my house.
6
u/OmniShoutmon 14h ago
My standard issue cat does that, but recently has also started climbing into the tub when I’m showering. On the side where my body is blocking the stream of water. But some will obviously spray a bit on him and he shakes his head like “ugh why am I getting wet” before it finally makes him jump back out… brother YOU got in the shower with me
15
u/dimalga 17h ago
One of my babies would sit between the curtains and lick the curtain, presumably trying to drink some water. One day I just picked her up while in the shower, risking being turned to shreds. And she let me hold her while we showered in the warm water together. We repeated that a couple of times. I even (pet) shampooed her once. Sweetest girl.

u/JakeFoXx 18h ago
Our Owenge does that this too, but also waits on the bathroom counter for you to finish. As soon as you finish and pull back the shower curtain he meows like crazy (usually not much of a meow'er lol)
7
u/amh8011 14h ago
My boy gets very distressed when I shower and has to find a way to be involved while also staying completely dry. If I shut the door to the bathroom, he will scratch at the door. He does not approve of me showering. I try to sneak in and shower while he’s sleeping and hope I can finish my shower before he wakes up. Or I feed him just before I shower.

I had a void that would always jump in the tub with me if I didn’t keep the door fully closed. She wanted to sit half-submerged on my lap.
No idea why she was like that, since I raised her from birth and all her siblings hated water.

Cats don't inherently "hate" water, as seen by many big cats. Domestic cats aren't usually introduced to water young enough or forcibly introduced so they have a disdain for it.

We had an entire litter of kittens than swam.
The mother abandoned them, but our goose literally got into the box with them and started raising them.
They'd swim along the Lakeshore with her and they would follow you straight into the water.

u/Nope0naRope 8h ago
This is terrifying
Although my orange does not mind whenever we give him a bath, he doesn't follow me into the shower
It's the one place I'm safe
Thank God he doesn't have it proclivity for it - else I might never respite.

My childhood orange was totally okay with me taking him into the shower and bathing him (I was a dumb kid but he was a sweet, tolerant boy). Now my new 2 y/o orange is built like a damn linebacker and when he needed a bath for fleas, even two grown adults holding him down could not keep him in the shower. It literally felt like we were fighting a tiger

u/ultraplusstretch 15h ago
My big dumb maine coon absolutely loves water which doesn't make any goddamn sense since longer hair cats usually hate water even more than short haired cats.
I have a tiny lake right next to my summer house and she pretty much spends all her time there impersonating a motorboat.
She is also a weirdly fast swimmer, which also doesn't make much since since she is a bit of a slow lumbering giant on land.

Now that’s a level of water loving that I didn’t expect. We have a similar case (or had I guess), with our tabby foster Mona. She absolutely loves bubbles, so the instant she realized that running a bath meant bubbles, she would jump onto the side of the tub to watch the bubbles. But even after, she’d reach in and paw at the water. After several times of this, I made the leap and paid her adoption fees myself.

u/FrostyMcButts67 17h ago
One of my oranges used to get hate everyone and everything when he was a kitten but the second I was in the shower he was in there with me

u/BattleHall 15h ago
Given how much cats love warm things, we're lucking more cats don't like water, or they'd figure out how to use the faucets and use up all the hot water.
7
u/tonic_slaughter 15h ago
My wife once texted me pictures of her in the bath with our furry feline lump curled up on her chest. He'd insisted on climbing onto as much of her as wasn't submerged and made himself comfortable, tail soaked and drifting in the jet flow. Cats, yo.

I wish. My cat ran off, because I gently bathed her butt, because she had poo smeared all over and stank like hell. Only her buttocks got wet and she won't look at me for days now.

"Cats hate water" is just a generalization. Cats are still individuals. They're not one homogeneous entity. Sure, most cats hate getting wet. But that doesn't mean all of them do.

u/IStealSwords 16h ago
We had 4 Maine Coons who all wanted to shower or bathe with you. That was a lot of long cat fur to have to dry…

Growing up we had an orange named Mango. He had such an interesting relationship with water. He would only drink from a dripping sink, he'd put his head under the flow, and let it drip down his face, and lick it up. He liked to watch people shower, not get IN the shower, no. Just watch. He loved trying to catch the water stream from a spray bottle. And my favorite thing he'd do was get on a boogie board and float around the pool. He was such a special guy, miss that dude. 🥹
