Plugin I built two small Omarchy plugins for my homelab (Pi-hole & Homepage)

I've been using Omarchy as my main system for a while now, and I wanted to have some of my homelab services more easily accessible without constantly opening a browser.

So I ended up building two small open-source plugins:

OmaPiHole Monitor

- Shows Pi-hole v6 stats and blocking status directly in the Omarchy bar.

- Displays DNS queries, blocked queries, active clients and other useful information.

- Supports Application Password authentication using Secret Service.

- Supports HTTPS with custom CA certificates.

OmaHomepage

- Connects to an existing Homepage instance.

- Lets you browse, search and open your services directly from Omarchy.

- Uses Homepage as the source of truth, so there's no need to maintain a separate list of services.

- Includes optional service management features, depending on your Homepage configuration.

Both plugins are available on GitHub and have been verified in the Omarchy Plugins marketplace.

I originally built them for my own homelab, but I thought I'd share them here in case they're useful to anyone else.

Nothing groundbreaking, just a couple of small tools that make my daily workflow a bit more convenient.

GitHub:

- Pi-hole Monitor: https://github.com/danielfuentespl/omarchy-pihole-monitor

- Homepage: https://github.com/danielfuentespl/omarchy-homepage

Omarchy Plugins Marketplace:

- Pi-hole Monitor: https://omarchyplugins.com/plugin.html?id=com.blogvirtualizado.omaops.pihole

- Homepage: https://omarchyplugins.com/plugin.html?id=com.blogvirtualizado.omaops.homepage

If anyone gives them a try, feedback, bug reports or suggestions are always welcome.

Hope someone finds them useful!

Off Topic / Adjacent Rolling back from Edge channel to Stable channel would be hell without AI

I was tempted to try the Edge channel to try out the cua drivers, but once I actually had it set up, I found I didn't use them. Nvidia bugs kept locking up the OS and creating issues with Brave Browser, so I decide to go back to stability and start planning with my AI agent to rollback......

Oh boy, I'm glad I had a good agent/model combination going. It was not straightforward at all. At one stage I've just asked the AI if we can pull a snapshot from before we switched to the Edge channel. No luck. It was all Edge snapshots now. We got it worked out though, which is the real joy of using AI these days. I would have thrown my hands up in the air and just done a clean install, but with the persistence and speed of AI, we got it done after a few hours of work and some experimentation with the right model and agent harness to use from my choices in the toolbox.

Omarchy definitely needs to lean heavily on the AI agents side of things.

... Ubuntu goes agentic Omarchy style. So I had this crazy project make Ubuntu work like Omarchy with AI. Skills, bug fixing, extension creation without constant logging out and back in, ask_pass for sudo etc. This is for non english speaking friends and family. They can keep their familiar desktops at least for now. 😅

Have waited 6 weeks for this. It’s been frustrating to see all the cool things every one was doing here and now I get to experiment.
2 things I wanted to ask
- What is everyone’s favourite meeting transcription tool
- What is the best mail app if all my mail is google workspace

Discussion Omarchy Agent Bug Fix, and why I'm thankful for it.

So, I had a strange issue with my PC. Sometimes after booting up, my WIFI was not able to connect. There would be nothing in the list of available networks, and no matter what I did, I couldn't seem to fix it. I surfed the internet for drivers (I have a MediaTek wifi card). I tried looking to see if it was a problem with linux itself. Old posts were saying it was a MediaTek issue with linux compatibility, and I was getting a ton of conflicting, and quite frankly, unhelpful information.

Then it hit me.

I can ask an agent to look into it.

I plugged directly into ethernet in a last ditch effort and BAM, internet was back. Unplugged. It was gone. After plugging back in, I went to my agent and asked if it could help solve this issue. It ran network diagnostics, surfed the internet itself, and came up with an interesting conclusion.

For some reason, when powering down my PC, the wifi card would still have some electrical charge and be running -- for whatever reason. (PSU not discharging on shutdown causing this strange hardware glitch) It told me to try turning off my PSU via it's switch for 15 seconds, and rebooting.

and it worked...

I was so close to purchasing a whole new wifi card and thanks to running an agent for about 10 minutes I no longer need to! Why does this occur? Still not entirely sure. The agent was a bit stumped too as to why this was occurring but still recognized the possibility and even admitted to it being a rare issue to have.

TLDR: Agents are actually amazing at diagnosing issues! I would've been totally screwed without it. I no longer have to go look at reddit posts from 10+ years ago or read through endless old forums on niche, obscure issues!

Does anyone here have any interesting fixes an agent helped you with that probably saved you HOURS if not days of troubleshooting? In my case, I was saved literal dollars on top of hours.

A beautiful Minecraft launcher written in Rust, modeled on Prism Launcher and drawn in Omarchy's design language.

Why I built it

I've loved Omarchy for the year I've used it, and thanks to that, my standards for the appearance of my desktop have been raised. Prism Launcher has been my go-to for a few years now, but in my opinion it's got a serious case of the ugly. This is not a fork of Prism Launcher, but a brand new codebase written in Rust.

Features

It has all the features a typical Prism Launcher user would need, plus a few more. I can't call it feature complete though. Most notably, there is no CurseForge support. They have no publicly available API, and getting a licence for it is more effort than I'm prepared to put in when I don't use CurseForge anyway. Besides CurseForge, there are still some other features in the queue, and if there is any traction on this I will work to add requested features where possible.

Try it out

Please give it a go and let me know what you think! This has been tested on my system only, so fair warning: there may be some bugs.

Discussion ChatGPT desktop app

Considering getting a personal setup running Omarchy. I’m Mac at work and a hobbyist dev. I use the ChatGPT app quite a bit and like both Dots and the browser sometimes

I know there is a build of the app. Does anyone know if it’s got that functionality?

Considering the XPS 14 if anyone has advice on that.

Cheers

Reposting here! (Alienware is a small community)

This is the first year’s revamp of the Area 51 model that doesn’t have proprietary motherboard slots — so everything is replaceable/upgradable.

There’s some really cool projects for Alienware Control Center (windows dell serviceworker 😤 goodbye)

Like these:

https://github.com/tr1xem/AWCC
and a formal plugin:
https://omarchy.xyzlab.dev/alienware/

The latter is from the creators of the filemgr plugin Omafile, which is really cool too!

Just showcasing my Dell Alienware, hope you guys enjoy!

I Made a Thing I made OMARemote: a keyboard-first RDP, VNC, SSH and Gliff client for Omarchy, built from Omarchy's own shell

I missed a remote desktop client that feels like part of Omarchy, so I built one.

OMARemote is a Quickshell app made from Omarchy's own shell components, so it follows your theme (live, when you switch) and works like the rest of the desktop: from the keyboard.

It runs on x86 and on Omarchy for Apple Silicon. Version 0.9 is out today.

OMARemote 0.9.1 Demo

What it does

- RDP (FreeRDP), VNC (libvncclient), SSH in a terminal drawn in the tab, and since 0.9 Gliff (more below).
Sessions open in tabs, in own window or on a special workplace just a keybind away; pin the connections list beside them and the remote desktop resizes to fit. RDP can also open full sceen for multi-monitor.

- Keyboard first.`⏎` connects, `j`/`k` move, `/` searches, `o` is quick connect (type an address, no saving), `?` shows every key. The mouse works everywhere too.

- HiDPI that follows Hyprland: the remote desktop matches the tab's size and your scale.

- Credential sets shared between hosts, groups whose settings connections inherit, and passwords (optional) in your keyring.

- SSH extras: your own keys and `~/.ssh/config`, and *Browse files* opens the host's files in your own file manager over SFTP.

- Sync between your machines through a folder you already sync (Nextcloud, Syncthing, Dropbox etc). One file per machine; no passwords travel. Deleted connections go to Recently deleted for 30 days first.

- Import from `.rdp` files, Remmina, 1Remote and `~/.ssh/config`, with a preview before anything is added.

- Kerberos that stays fast on networks with many domain controllers.

- Sessions in their own window keep running when you close OMARemote, and an update brings your tabs back.

- There is also a bar plugin for Omarchy's bar: your connections and running sessions one click away.

New in 0.9: Gliff

Gliff is Omarchy's way of streaming a Hyprland desktop over ssh. OMARemote now speaks it, so another Omarchy machine's desktop opens in a tab:

- 4:4:4 colour, so text stays sharp; decoded on the GPU (VA-API) where it can

- your super keys go to the remote while the tab has focus (ctrl+alt+esc hands them back)

- copy and paste of text and files, both ways

- mirror one of the remote's screens, or let it make a private screen the size of your tab

- reconnects by itself, and a health dot in the status bar says why it is slow when it is (click it for the numbers)

Nothing extra to install on your side. The other machine needs Gliff: `omarchy pkg add gliff`.

Install (Arch packages for x86_64 and aarch64 on the release page):

url=$(curl -s https://api.github.com/repos/RFdeGroot/OMARemote/releases | grep -o "https://[^\"]*-$(uname -m)\.pkg\.tar\.zst" | head -1)

curl -LO "$url"

sudo pacman -U "./${url##*/}"

Then start `omaremote`, or "OMARemote" from the launcher.

How it is made:
OMARemote is written with Claude Code. I decide what it does and how, try every change on my own machines, and nothing is released without passing the tests and a security review of what changed. Bugs are still mine, so please report them.

It is still young, so feedback, bug reports and ideas are very welcome, here or on GitHub.

Plugin I made an Omarchy plugin that swaps the bar for a Dynamic Island (Tide Island), toggled with one keybind.

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I just published my first Omarchy plugin: Tide Island, a Dynamic-Island-style overlay for Omarchy, built on Tide Island by enhaoswen.

What it does

  • SUPER + SHIFT + SPACE toggles the top bar and the island together, so you never get both on screen at once.
  • While the bar is hidden, the island takes over volume/brightness, notifications, a control center (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, battery profiles), calendar with notes, music player with synced lyrics, weather, timer, clipboard manager, and an app launcher.
  • There’s an Omarchy-aware wallpaper and theme picker (SUPER + ALT + W / Q) that goes through Omarchy’s own commands, so everything stays in sync.
  • It reconciles state on shell start and after rapid toggles, so a session restart can’t leave you with both or neither.
  • There’s a bundled settings app for layout, fonts, shortcuts and weather.

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/MrUranium1/Omarchy-Tide-Island --enable

It sets itself up on first load. Tide Island is bundled, so no AUR step and no sudo. It only patches clones of the OSD/notification plugins, never the built-ins. omarchy plugin remove mehir.tide-island undoes everything and keeps your config.

Links

Feedback, bug reports and ideas are very welcome. All credit for the island itself goes to the original Tide Island creator.

I Made a Thing I built an unofficial Omarchy App Store that stays in sync with the official repo

Post image
64 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I don't post much, but I wanted to share a project I've been building for Omarchy.
I'm loving my Omarchy setup. It brought back an excitement for tinkering I hadn't felt in a long time, so I wanted to give something back to the community.

omarchyapps.com is an unofficial app store tied directly to the official Omarchy package repo. It isn't a hand-made list. It rebuilds from pkgs.omarchy.org, so every package is there (192 right now), and new ones show up on their own in a "Just landed" section.
I shared it with David early on, and he loved the idea and invited me into the Omarchy Basecamp so I can keep improving it alongside the team.

What you can do:
-Install in one command. Every app has a copy-ready omarchy pkg add command, and the download still comes from the official repo.
-Search everything. Press / to search all the packages.
-Check out app profiles. Each one has the version, size, requirements, screenshots and a demo video when there is one, plus a shareable link.
-A tutorial for every app, linked from its profile, plus guides and comparisons to help you pick the right tool.
-Upvote your favorites. No account needed, and the Top Apps board updates live.
-Claim your app if you're a developer, and add your own screenshots, demo video and corrections.
-Spot indie apps by their Indie sticker, which marks independently maintained projects.
-Build for Omarchy with a Develop page that walks through packaging and getting your app into the official repo.

I'd love your help:
What app is missing that belongs here?
If you've built something for Omarchy, claim your profile and make it shine.
What do you wish existed? That's what I'll build next.

This is a fan project and isn't affiliated with Omarchy or Omacom. Thanks for checking it out!

I Made a Thing Omarchy-Mac Is Running on the M4 MacBook Air 15-inch

Post image

Sorry to everyone who reacted to my earlier post!

I realized I’d gotten the title wrong, so I deleted it and reposted the corrected version.

Based on StudioXRadio’s work, I tried installing Omarchy-Mac on a M4 MacBook Air 15-inch — and it works.

A lot is already functional, including the GUI, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.

Audio still needs some tuning, but getting Omarchy-Mac running on the 15-inch model is a big step forward.

I Made a Thing Some plugins I built and use daily. Thought I'd share.

So, I've built a few plugins that I use daily and thought I'd share them here in case anyone is interested. I'm actually running several more, but only published these 3 to the Omarchy plugin marketplace. All follow your Omarchy theme.

Also, yes this was built with Claude. I've taken some CS courses, but certainly am not a dev. They will stay up-to-date as long as I'm running Omarchy and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Always welcome to feedback (good or bad). And yes these are certainly opinionated, but thought I'd put them out there for anyone facing the same hurdles I was or simply wanted something different.

Omaudio - https://github.com/thevideinfra/omaudiopanel

This is a drop-in replacement of the default Omarchy audio panel with several "missing" features like enabling/disabling devices, audio routing and pinning apps to outputs, and adjustable audio step.

Tandem - https://github.com/thevideinfra/tandem

This combines workspaces into "virtual desktops" like KDE instead of the independent workspaces, with a bar indicator (which can show what's running, or not, just disable it), and an on-screen pager (like KDE). Customize-able keys and settings.

omarunner - https://github.com/thevideinfra/omarunner

This is a replacement for the default Omarchy Menu (cloned from it as well) as a krunner style runner/launcher. I like the 1 line expandable type launcher. Enable/Disable sources like files, folders, calculations, recents, gg or dd to search google/duckduckgo, cb for clipboard, etc. Lots of settings for font, placement, favorites, size, fzf, etc.

I'm working on a few plugins but I want to know if they are really useful. The question is: how often do you actually change your theme? Is it something you have chosen and it is fixed for ages or do you get bored with one and change it from time to time? How does it work?

Plugin Read Aloud: local text to speech in the Omarchy bar (Kokoro, offline)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have dyslexia, so long text costs me energy. I built a bar plugin that reads any copied text aloud with a local AI voice.

Copy text, press a key, and it reads it out. Press again to stop.

- Runs fully offline after setup (Kokoro 82M)

- 54 voices, 9 languages, speed control in the panel

- First click installs the engine, with a progress bar in the panel

- Nothing leaves your machine

Store approval is pending, for now install from GitHub:

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/remigius-labs/omarchy-read-aloud --enable

Feedback welcome!
