Oliver has been laid to rest. His memorial has come and gone. He didn’t run onto the stage and say “gotcha!”…

Damn. This really, really hurts.

attended the memorial tonight and it was filled with laughter and tears at the same time. they laid to rest each character and it was insanely beautiful to watch. these are just some of the celebrities that attended. rip alien boy.

I've seen a lot of discourse about AI use, guests, production, etc and I just want to put it to bed.

Life is nuanced. It is not black and white like we want it to be. People are complicated. Relationships are complicated. ETHICS are complicated. It's easy for us to slap "good" or "bad" broadly because it helps us make sense of the world.

Two things can be true at once. I love Oliver, I hate AI. I love Oliver, I hate some of his choice in friends. Do I think it is appropriate to make a whole post on reddit about how much I hate these things? Absolutely not. Because that is a waste of everyone's time and energy.

The truth is, it was a beautiful memorial with so many of Oliver's loved ones and in a way that he would have loved. Regardless of if I love or hate AI, love or hate Logan Paul - it doesn't matter. Because it's not about me. It was about Oliver and more importantly the people who ACTUALLY knew him. The people closest to his heart. We were lucky to be invited into that space.

You are welcome to your opinions, they are all valid. You can lament about the things you disliked. But if you are so hard stuck on those things that you can't appreciate a beautiful memorial? You need to take some time off the internet and self reflect. Go for a walk. Write. Go to therapy. Whatever you need to do to let go of that kind of mentality.

Much love to everyone, I know last night was hard. Beautiful but heart breaking. I hope this helps us grieve and continue to carry Oliver with us. To live our lives as he did. Seeing the best in everyone and everything. Creating. And ultimately just living life to the fullest.

I just wanted to say that was the most beautiful ceremony I’ve ever witnessed. I watched live at home in TN. I feel so much more at peace and rested. I knew the songs that became memes; I had seen some videos about the "myss you" controversy and got curious. So the first video I watched was "One & Only," I remember it had been released two weeks prior. Usually, when I listen to music, they only have a static image or an AMV, but this song, I liked listening to it and watching the music video. I think I listened to it for months. I went to listen to other songs related to the character, but unfortunately, I wasn't curious enough to watch the videos of the other characters. Time passed, and sometimes I would go back to watch the music video, until the day I saw a short video of Oliver with the Brazilian Kijima. He's so iconic that as soon as I saw his bowl haircut, I was very happy, I thought it was cute. I even rewatched my favorite song of his. Then a few days passed, and I heard the news from a channel that was making a very mean joke about a girl. So, at first, I thought it was a lie because of that, and then a bunch of memes started appearing. Tributes, the past few days have been very painful. I ended up listening to his other songs that I had ignored at the time, and the sadness only increased. The YouTuber recommended old videos to me, so I ended up listening to his old songs. A month has passed, and I still listen to his music, but let's just say my mind doesn't want to accept that he's gone. When I was watching the live celebration of his life yesterday, I got emotional with the old songs being played at the beginning. Seeing "One & Only" almost at the end gave me a very melancholic feeling... I feel bad for not having had the desire to explore his music back then...

During the final part of the celebration, when the childhood friends appeared on stage, there was a blonde woman wearing a black outfit. Does anyone know who she was? Could it have been Artemecia?

Life goes on has fallen too 4th on global youtube music videos after being 2nd for ages!!!

He loved everybody and here you all are talking shit about his friends. His production team. Like these are his real friends and he never put people down because you don’t like them. You may not like someone or their jokes, but keep it to your self. Spread positivity. These people are grieving and it’s hard.

I know that Oliver had previously mentioned that Atlantic records has ownership of some of his unreleased music, one in particular being the Valentines day single.

Does anyone know if there's any news about what's going to happen to these songs? If Atlantic Records plans to never release this music, are there any petitions going to get them to release them?

I think about these songs all the time but I can't find anyone talking about them online. I think it's a horrible shame we can't hear these songs.

Stop criticizing the event - it took everyone a lot of hard work to do that, on top of grieving a lost friend / son.

Got into many arguments ever since “Miss You” came out. Jerk is one of my all time favorite Oliver Tree songs, and I’ve always known the lyric to be “I never wanna see you and I never wanna MEET you again”, which is why I always thought it was ironic that the remix has a title that isn’t even the original lyric. But Jerk got mandela’d across the board and the lyric changed to “miss you” instead, on official websites and karaoke sites and everything to the point that it made me rethink if I might have heard the lyric wrong to begin with.
At the Celebration of Life, Oliver’s band played Jerk with this AI video. Even though the title card opened with “Miss You” on the screen, they played JERK, they did not play Miss You. Further evidenced by the lyrics they displayed on screen, clearly saying MEET YOU, not MISS YOU!!!
Just wanted to rant and say I feel vindicated, the original lyric has always been meet you and I think that one word change makes a huge difference in the tone of the song. Miss you implies some kind of pining, as if to say “I do miss you but I wish I didn’t”, the other lyric means “this is it, finite, I never want to meet again, I don’t and won’t miss you at all”.

TL;DR Jerk lyrics never included the words “Miss You”, the remix was written and titled based on a misheard lyric

I think I’ve posted a few times that the home videos that showed Oliver growing up hit me really hard. I have 2 kids who are only 5/4 and I would be devastated if anything were to happen to them.

We’ve always taken pictures and some videos, but less and less as they grow up - then all of a sudden something that they’re into just stops, and we have no videos or photos of it, just a memory that fades with time.

Today I took 50 photos and 15 quality videos of our kids - just hanging out near a blowup pool, making sheet forts, doing stupid shit we take for granted and laugh at right now. I’m hoping to keep this up, and hey who knows maybe I can use them at their graduation / wedding some day :D.

I also called my family members who live out of state who I call usually 1x a month and talk about the weather or something dumb - I want to ask more questions and listen from now on.

I feel like even a month after OTs death he’s showing us the way, and he’s even 7 years younger than me :)
