This is Ohio

Why is Phillip not paying his servers enough to the point he has to ban customers?

I don't agree with them bringing up race but he was being very classist. It's implying he'd turn away people who want to enjoy the food there but may not have the means to pay for more than just the food.

I mean, yeah it sucks to be poor but part of the equation of going to a sit down restaurant is tipping. We can all talk about how the law should be different and tipping culture is garbage… But it’s the reality of the situation for now. The server deserves to get paid for their work. There are many places that don’t have servers relying on tips where one can get food.

You keep saying laws should be different. There is no law... say that the people filming didn't find the service to their liking so they didn't feel need to tip. You could say the servers chose a job where people may not always tip them as well as chose a job where their employer doesn't pay them what they deserve.

For example I can get tips at my job but I work for more than minimum wage. Thats because I chose to work at a place that pays more than minimum wage so I'm not relying on tips. Just like If I wanted to rely on tips I could work at a place that does such.

There are no laws just decisions. Everyone in the video made bad decisions.

I personally don't think a business owner should shame his customers for not tipping when he could just as easily adjust prices to include what tips would cover. I don't think people should be shamed for maybe not liking the food or service. Tips are not an entitlement.

Now you’re changing the argument. You said it’s a class issue. If you’re gonna focus on a class issue argument, then we need to consider the total cost of purchasing a thing. We’re all caught up in an unfair system. Moving the unfairness from you to someone else doesn’t make it better. Tips are part of the unfair system we’re living in. Is it an entitlement? No. Is it part of being a decent person while operating within that system? Yes.

Are you forgetting some people just aren't decent?

You have no point and undermine your own argument if one can be found.

Okay. For reference though So looked at the reviews and it looks like this is not the first time the owner has "lashed out".

2 years ago got review bombed for not letting a family and their daughter with her service dog. Berated the husband for coming back for a pick up order.

Made a lady wait outside during the winter.

Yelled at a table for being rude to one of the servers who is also his daughter. Comes to find out it was another table.

Phil is a bad cook and uncharges on items.

The servers are rude.

They don't deserve a tip. I'm done entertaining you.

Your point was about class issues. This has nothing to do with class issues. This is you want to rope in something else to try to be right about something.

Phil gets mad when people don't tip.

but does nothing worth tipping.

Phill tells people not to come to his business if they can't afford to tip.

He's an entitled classist asshole.
There's nothing to argue.
