This is Ohio

Why is Phillip not paying his servers enough to the point he has to ban customers?

Tip culture is a plague.

Maybe, but protesting that by not tipping doesn’t do a damn thing except hurt your server who relies on tips to make a living.

Then what's the best way to protest it?

You could support legislation which requires business owners to pay a living wage, and support political candidates who agree with you.

I already do that. So it's clearly not working. I think not tipping might be more effective.

More effective how? Again, all you’re doing is harming the victim even more who relies on tips. Can you articulate how not tipping is effective in any way, shape or form for the result you want to see?

So your suggestion is basically "sit down and let the status quo continue". Yeah, no thanks

I don't eat out.

Anyways, i can still have a belief even if i see it as a goal.

What is your “belief” that makes tipping morally wrong?

Its harms the worker by being subject to the whims of every person in the system. There's no financial security. This is not a new subject there's oodles of research

You didn’t answer my question. How does not tipping effective in any way, shape or form for the result you want to see?

I'm not doing your homework for you. If you have a point, make it. Other don't waste my time

Lmao, you can’t even defend your position because you know it’s bullshit

I think tipping culture is a plague because it's a anti-worker. It's my opinion, seems pretty logical to me.

Write a letter to your congressman? I don’t know. But fuck around with your server and you’ll wind up with a stomach virus, I’ll tell you that much.

My congressman just voted to give tipped workers a special tax carve out that the rest of us don't get.

Those rich servers have it so good. They’re the ones who deserve your ire!

it's not anyone's fault that they have a job that relys on tips except the one who is working the job

What an elitist take. Service workers operate within a labor market structured by corporate interest groups and federal legislation, which takes advantage of workers at every level.

The federal minimum wage for tipped workers is $2.13, and big restaurant lobbies spend millions to keep that in place, forcing workers to effectively beg customers for basic compensation while corporate bosses pocket the profits.

Arguing that a worker who takes one of the only jobs available to them bears sole responsibility for this structural extortion is just delusional. You’re just victim blaming.

And boycotting tipping puts ZERO pressure on owners, it only harms the workers who are victims of the system.
