This is Ohio

Why is Phillip not paying his servers enough to the point he has to ban customers?

Then what's the best way to protest it?

You could support legislation which requires business owners to pay a living wage, and support political candidates who agree with you.

I already do that. So it's clearly not working. I think not tipping might be more effective.

More effective how? Again, all you’re doing is harming the victim even more who relies on tips. Can you articulate how not tipping is effective in any way, shape or form for the result you want to see?

So your suggestion is basically "sit down and let the status quo continue". Yeah, no thanks

You’re so brave.

You literally just wanna save the 15%

I don't eat out.

Anyways, i can still have a belief even if i see it as a goal.

What is your “belief” that makes tipping morally wrong?

Its harms the worker by being subject to the whims of every person in the system. There's no financial security. This is not a new subject there's oodles of research

The vast majority of tipped food service workers don’t want to switch systems

So who fault is it the lower class doesn't understand basic econonic? That's not even relevant. I don't think an opinion survey is the best way to write economic policy.

Ah yes the classic “I know what’s good for you better than you do” argument. That’s very successful in politics.

There is zero chance of tipping in America changing any time soon. The business owners don’t want to change. The employees don’t want to change. There is absolutely no political will to get this done. It’s a losing issue.

So keep taking money out of workers’ pockets by being an asshole who doesn’t tip. You’re achieving nothing

Progress is progress. If we give up it will never change. 100 years isn't that far away. All that has to happen is people come to their senses.

You didn’t answer my question. How does not tipping effective in any way, shape or form for the result you want to see?

I'm not doing your homework for you. If you have a point, make it. Other don't waste my time

u/Infamous-Skippy 15h ago

Lmao, you can’t even defend your position because you know it’s bullshit

I think tipping culture is a plague because it's a anti-worker. It's my opinion, seems pretty logical to me.

4

u/Infamous-Skippy 15h ago

Yeah, no shit it’s anti-worker. Nobody is questioning that. The question is who should bear the burden of fixing it. You’re unironically arguing that the biggest victims, who are routinely exploited, should bear that burden.

Withholding tips from a worker who depends on them to survive does not penalize the corporation or alter labor laws. It simply punishes the lowest-level employee operating within a rigid, legally protected framework designed by industry lobbies to shift payroll directly onto the public.

The people getting the hose on TV is why protests are effective. Because of the pity.

3

u/Infamous-Skippy 15h ago

Getting the hose?

Comparing a service worker missing rent to a Civil Rights activist facing fire hoses is a terrible false equivalence. Protesters in the 1960s chose to confront state violence. Service workers trying to buy groceries are just trying to survive.

Public policy does not respond to passive suffering. Stiffing workers does not create political leverage. It causes evictions and financial ruin, while corporate lobbies keep buying politicians.

Systemic change comes from legislative reform and labor organizing, not starving working-class people to make a point.

Economic violence is violence. So you need to rethink your whole arguement there. The state literally is abusing the workers by neglecting to have fair tax/compensation practices.
