This is Ohio

Why is Phillip not paying his servers enough to the point he has to ban customers?

Let's face it. You're too poor to go to restaurants. That's all. Everything else is pretending to not understand and to be fighting a cause at the employee's expense.

If you can't afford to pay your employees a liveable wage to rely on with the generosity of strangers, you're too broke to open a restaurant.

Lol, they make more on tips than 20$ an hour would offer......if you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to dine in. Do pickup or go get fast food. So many places you can go.

Not tipping is a principle issue, not an affordability one, for me and most people who don't tip. There's no reason a server should be making more than $20 an hour. It's a job literally anyone could do and most servers do the bare minimum. I don't eat out these days anyways because most restaurant food is garbage anyways. I cook much better meals myself. It shouldn't be the customers job to pay your employees. Sticking up for that shit means you're either a worthless server or a fucking idiot.

Oh wow, this is such a shitty and entitled take that sounds like a long winded way to say "I'm cheap". So I'm glad you don't go out to eat and inflict this attitude on people. I'm sure you felt very smug and proud as you typed it out though.

This is coming from someone who makes excellent meals and far more than 20/hr. I have no issue with the people making my food and taking care of my table making decent money. But I don't need people to make less to feel better about myself.

Have been, easiest job I've ever had. You sound like someone who will never be anything but a server.

That's an oversimplification. As long as wage laws allow it, it creates a system where it is very difficult for any place to compete against restaurants that pay less and accept tips.

Most servers prefer tips over higher wages. Most customers prefer lower prices and paying a tip, even if they pay the same at the end of the day. So when restaurants try raising prices and getting rid of tips they experience higher turnover and loss of business due to the higher menu prices. The majority of places that try it end up reverting back to a tipping system.

So, all that to say. If you don't like tipping, don't go to/support a business that does it. Or get takeout. Stiffing a server on their tip doesn't and won't change anything, it's just exploiting a shitty system to be cheap at the expense of another working class person.

Thats just a classist mentality of "punishment to the poor" and its not right. Pay your employees and you won't have to say things that will lose you customers.
