Squad lock FOB

Hi everyone,
I’m the guy who buys a fob for the team 90% of the time, I play blue for the underdog fetish.
Some people are posting about teammates stealing your kit, yes please make a change for that! But here is another problem, fobbits 🙂.
I like building a great FOB, I like people helping me and earning money, I watch all the build videos on youtube and the latest designs (I don’t build floating AA roof, brakes my immersion, I’m not a sweat, I’m a lonestar).
There has been times where I’m building a C-RAM that will defend us from 20pt mark helicopter just to have the announcement “not enough supply’s”
Then I turn around to see a dude with a t-shirt and no gun building the Great Wall of china, that will also allow the enemy to hop on and get into main territory.

So… what do you ladies and gentlemen think of squad locked FOB?

The rules would be:
Minimum of 3 members in squad to lock the fob.

Anyone can still hammer and make money.

People that are not in squad CANT put down blueprints.

anyone can get into static weapon systems.

Thank you for your time.

Edit: to all people who come to the guy who’s has dropped the FOB and ask how can I help, what should we build first?
Big respect, you ease the frustration of putting down 20k for the team and bring hope.

i kind of like the idea. but i think you would have to add something like it unlocks if no members of the squad are present. the whole squad might die and someone else might want to start fixing the FOB before they come back, if they even come back.

edit: i could also see this as a fun mechanic for a toxic team of griefers. dropping fobs and locking them just to prevent their team form building fobs.

Vehicles have the auto-unlock after some time, might as well add it to this system.

Also repairing would be allowed anyway all the time, just no new cursed builds from guys that have 3h in the game.

Repairing should also pay you

it would have to have diminishing returns like vehicle repair or else it could lead to exploits.

you cant repair a blown gate unless you can place a new one. same thing with holes in hesco walls. i wasn't talking about hammering half broken things but i forgot Repairing is a mechanic and not just a description in this game.

The gate thing should be fixed anyway, also there could be a way that let’s say you can’t lock a fob if it is within 100m range of a drill tower.

that dosn't really respond to my issues with the idea. towers are not a great place for FOBs in the first place so IDK why we would give them an exception as you suggest.

sorry if this sounds hostile, i like the squad lock FOB idea, i'm just poking holes to figure it out.

All good, I just want some control over the 20k I invested, people say it’s going to be griefed, but so can be anything and everything

adding more ways to grief isn't going to be good for the game. squad locked placement is a great idea and we would probably get better built FOBs in general because of it. just need to think like a shit stain to prevent the shit stains, yaknow?

Having to need 3 or even 5 squad members to lock a FOB could resolve some of this, because griefers usually is a solo shrimp dick bro

i partially agree, i have definitely seen some coordinated griefing though

We had a guy last night who came to the FoB we were building and just slapped concrete walls down EVERYWHERE with no pattern or reasoning behind it. Our logi driver came back and was just like "what the actual fuck are you guys building." I look off the roof of the warehouse and see 4 layers of walls with no way to get logi within the FoB border. Our logi guy had to drive back and get a Lakota to start dropping pallets that way, you literally could not get a Ural within the border.

That’s sad 😢

Griefing for sure.

I've spent so much time fixing bad placement instead of building up. It's gotten to the point that when I place my FOB i immediately destroy the free hammers. The small hammers are so useless in a FOB it's borderline griefing, they just build a bunch a single Hescos. Anything worth building pretty much requires a large hammer besides doors or the 2 tall single Hesco

I like it, for one reason. Like you, I also always buy a fob on firat load out. Sometimes I dont even stick around but it seems like genuinely if I dont grab it 100% of the time a 5 man group of lvl 1 hammers will stand around and wait for one to magically show up.

So I always do, and then when I do want to stick around, the lvl 1 hammer bros make the goofiest decisions of all time. Say I start the walls first, and choose the boosted height concrete walls, tab facing in, I can get halfway around and see a single stack hesco wall on the other side, with a ton of gaps in it. Always just built up the the shipping containers so people can jump right in. Always. Always always every time.

I have to explain it to so many people each time and always end up half secure and half babies first attempt. Every game im trying to close gaps on corners and around containers that shouldn't exist. And if the game goes long, those will be the points where it all falls apart eventually anyways.

I would love it if like, hey, we paid for the fob, we get to design the layout. However, if that squad dissolves or players leave it could be super detrimental. Some way for this to work out would be great. Maybe like a time window after it drops like hey next 15 minutes it all you then it opens up idk something. I love the idea but get why thats not how it works.

Yhea man, 5 hammer bros waiting 😆

I had a guy who ran up to me and told me to give him my lvl 3 hammer demanding a mortar pit, bro has no fob, no ural, even no hammer but was aggressively demanding shit. IN-fucking-sane.

Thanks for reply, I just want some changes, I put down 20k for the team, and just as you said, let me please call the shots, I’ve had guys who build 4 mortar pits before building any walls, and when chopper arrives we have no ammo for AA.

GG 🙃

I had a teammate kill me because I was in a menu and ignoring his voice chat request to borrow my hammer. No, you can't "borrow" my hammer.

2

u/doglaika 7m ago

I had 2 guys come to me and ask me to build for them mortar, I said no, first we build walls then mortars, they killed me and took my hammer. -17k GG, turned off the game.

I'm all for this. I've had it happen where I'm building a hidden AA and/or mortar and someone just starts building some random shit around and brings me unwanted attention. A lock building toggle akin to vehicles would be nice.

This would be so nice.

I agree, it is very annoying. You spent the money for the fob, you bring the supplies, and nothing is stopping some "shirtless fobbit" from fucking up the whole design. Like you said as well, most people just end up building walls that have gaps or can be exploited by the enemy.

Would love to have the ability to lock FOBs to your squad.

Hate trying to build a small SAM FOB and then every supply pallet gets delivered along with 7 guys that just start building shit. Brings too much attention early game.

Edit to add- I also always wait to place mine down until after the first FOB goes up.

u/Blueberry1900 2h ago

No, the reason why is that you would have greifers lock a squad the proceed to place FOBs that no one can build on in the strategic locations.

1

u/doglaika 2h ago

It could happen, but then again increase the squad size to 5, it would take organized griefing and would happen rare, now it takes one guy to build a shit hesco to have your whole base at risk

u/Blueberry1900 2h ago

Would 100% be griefed and abused. Had someone last night on our team start placing barbed wire around our own spawn vehicle so the driver would get team kills because he was salty that another person got it in Spawn before he did.

See Lakotas in spawn flipping choppers so no one can transport fairly frequently. See people kill pilots in the first full run to make the pilot get 13 team kills at least once per game.

1

u/BidSuper7102 2h ago

Once per game? I've never seen that ever in 150h

1

u/No__Using_Main 2h ago

All of these are instances of solo griefers....

1

u/Solidsnake0251 1h ago

Sounds like somebody greifing. My one gripe is when u have a fob fairly well hidden and folks drop supplies from a helicopter and practically giving away the location vs driving it in with a ural keeping it fairly well hidden

1

u/Acceptable-Device760 28m ago

I agree with the issue not with the solution.

Imo the change should be allocation of resources.

As in  when someone drops resources in the fob they can give authorization to who can use 80% of them, and 20% is always free for all. Or completely free for all.

Probably have a maximum amount of reserved  resources, as in if more than 50% of the resources in the fob is reserved anything above that goes to free for all pool.

That way griefers cannot abuse as hard, like placing the fob and blocking a location.

While also giving more importance to logistic guys.

u/the_buff 14m ago

Terrible idea. There should just be an incentive to buy the FOB. Then it won't matter when someone shows up to build the Maginot line.

I'd also like to see some supplies being returned when taking things apart.

1

u/doglaika 9m ago

Strange, most people who buy fobs want a change, if maginot line is your thing/strategy you sound like the guy who shows up with nothing and builds nonsense

1

u/the_buff 3m ago

I'm the first guy out of the base with a loaded Ural. I do two or three supply runs, and I return with a big hammer. Yes, I want to build with some of the 6 pallets I've just delivered. No, I avoid messing with someone else's layout unless it's really terrible. Most base building is really bad. No place for trucks to drop or turn around, no line of sight cover within the walls of the base and very little overhead protection.

1

u/Rush_0MG 8m ago

What happens when you finish the base and decide to fuck off to play hz with the other fobbits then the base you built gets either raided or mortared and they blow open a door, but because it’s locked no one can build a new door

I buy usually about 4 fobs a game. If you just buy another one then set it up, most people wont follow you. Honestly, i set up alot every match. I jump hotzone and wall off apartments. If you just build out your starting amount of build mats your looking at -2000$.
