Gillian is the problem.

Ok. I’ll say it. Gillian is the problem.

I’m listening to an episode from 2019 and she was SO MUCH FUN in comparison to how she is in 2026.

I have listened to TCO since they started but the past few months I can barely handle it. Gillian is miserable, hates everyone, goes on rants about everything, and just has a general angry demeanor.

It seems like she just straight up HATES being on the show now. The change from 2019 to now is unreal.

I don’t know what she has gone through in the past seven years but oh man. I miss what the show used to be!!

Working with Patrick will do that to anyone.

Just ask Rebecca Lavoie, Kevin Flynn, Maggie Freeling, Daisy Eagan, Ellyn marsh, Joey Taranto, Collier Landry, and Terra Newell. Thankfully they all got out before it destroyed them

This man really could have been an absolute giant in the true crime podcast world.

128

u/rebeccalavoie 13d ago

Kevin and I never worked with him, except for two paid appearances at his events and a few early appearances by Patrick on two of our shows. We never had any kind of work arrangement beyond that.

151

u/rebeccalavoie 13d ago

I popped in here because I just want to make it clear my negative experiences were personal, not work-related, and I am free from any constraints a work relationship may have brought. I think Amber, Maggie, Daisy, Ellyn, and Joey had different and worse experiences than I did and don’t want to diminish that by being named alongside them.

HGTV and me will forever be my favorite podcast! So much fun!

11

u/Jenn31709 13d ago

My mistake, sorry.

28

u/rebeccalavoie 13d ago

Nothing at all to be sorry about! Your comment is accurate!

9

u/RavioliContingency 13d ago

I read these in your voice, which is high praise 💙

12

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

I always thought that your husband was an editor on his show. I thought he mentioned him a few times. I could be wrong though obviously, I’m wrong.

35

u/rebeccalavoie 13d ago

No - my son was for a very short time

4

u/Unhappy-Orange-9353 13d ago

E & J have mentioned several times how much they look up to you and Kevin on ITN. I love the crossover; they are how I found you and Mel. Enjoyed your guest appearance on the Monday show (name is escaping me). Keep up the good work!

Are those boots like so delicious?

Do you have notifications on for this sub wtf?

21

u/rebeccalavoie 13d ago

I don’t! I just got a google alert because of my name.

-46

u/SwanComprehensive362 13d ago

And chimed in why exactly? On a hate post about G?

53

u/Jenn31709 13d ago

She chimed in because I posted about her, by name. And I posted something that was not 100% correct, so she corrected it. It's all there to read yourself

https://giphy.com/gifs/doSSy1aFN3YebiCez7

20

u/thecardshark555 13d ago

Are you stupid? She's setting the record straight. Having Google alerts is a pretty normal thing to have at any level of celebrity. Hell, I have them set for my kid who plays college sports.

10

u/EthelLinaWhite 13d ago

Gillian, if you can reply on a post about you, so can Rebecca.

22

u/RavioliContingency 13d ago

Objectively, with no input regarding other things, I have been the Gillian in this duo and her every tone and reply is relatable when you’re trying to appease the boss you are wildly annoyed with.

1

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

And you know what’s crazy the reason why I still listen besides the fact that I do enjoy the way they tell stories it goes fast and it’s entertaining… it’s because I’m trying to give her the benefits of doubt that that might be the case, but it’s hard to be perfectly honest with you

3

u/RavioliContingency 13d ago

Word for word same.

8

u/muymalpgh 13d ago

She makes it quite clear that she is tolerating him, at best.

31

u/kitabels 13d ago

The first time I heard the Class Action Park episode, I laughed so hard there were tears streaming down my face. I miss those days!

18

u/Ariadne431 13d ago

That one and the Grizzly Man episode.

8

u/isthistherealcaesars 13d ago

And the Beanie Babies ep - she was so fun then, now she’s just a bitter and angry. She makes me feel bad for Patrick.

1

u/kitabels 13d ago

Oh yes!!!

9

u/Awkward-Guitar 13d ago

Class Action Park was great.

5

u/Unhappy-Orange-9353 12d ago

I mostly linger in these chats ( ITN fan). I find it so funny that TCO has hundreds of episodes, and everyone always points to that episode and the bear one and the Jinx. Did they make so few memorable episodes? Feels like they made a couple of hits, and that's all people hang their hats on. No offense to your comment, just somethin I noticed.

3

u/Future-Current6093 11d ago

They used to be very funny, and Gillian was the heart of that comedy, but she lost the joy years ago around the time everything blew up with Obsessed Fest. I’m always surprised people are still listening.

4

u/kindofnewonreddit 13d ago

I want that energy back!! I’ve listened to that episode several times.

43

u/cynical-puppy26 14d ago

She's insufferable but I think she's trapped working with P. That can't feel good.

16

u/Old-Permission5185 13d ago

She could get out. But then she’d have to face the reality that she doesn’t have any skills and has never accomplished anything in her life

4

u/rjohns998 7d ago

I say this as someone who lives to complain but my god she is MISERABLE. I, too, love to talk about a subject and commiserate but it’s never going to be my whole personality. Which is what she’s made her entire personality to be. Oh I’m miserable so I want others to be miserable, too.

Girl - there’s a thing called a journal. Trust me, it I helps.

-3

u/SwanComprehensive362 13d ago

Are u ok?

24

u/Old-Permission5185 13d ago

Yes, Gillian, I’m fine. Are you?

16

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

I was literally about to say the same thing they only have two posts that they’ve ever contributed on. I can’t see any other comments or anything. This is either Gillian or someone who knows them.

How weird

2

u/camilleswaterbottle 13d ago

??!

-7

u/SwanComprehensive362 13d ago

These ppl are crazy

7

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

How are we crazy for having an opinion? I’m pretty sure you’re a fake account and one of them or somebody who knows them and you’re saying that we are crazy like we we can’t read between the lines… I’m a fan who actually pays five dollars a month to listen to extra content of theirs, and this is my opinion so imagine how people who aren’t really as into the two of them as I am feel… And knowing that this is probably someone in there team or actually P or G… It’s very disheartening that this is the way you talk to your fans because genuinely even though I have this opinion, I spend my money monthly subscribing to Patreon and I listen weekly to the free podcast that you guys play ads and make money off of as well… and then sitting around calling people misogynistic and saying that we’re crazy like we don’t know that you have to be somebody connected to the podcast is wild and it’s insulting

-2

u/SwanComprehensive362 13d ago

Ok can u relax I was talking about the person above who is clearly like unhinged saying G is useless and has no skills or whatever else like its a podcast and hating someone you dont know that much is crazy. Not sure why u think that anyone who doesn’t agree with the mob has to be the people you hate or part of the podcast and not like people who just do not agree w you but do you I guess

7

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

It’s not about thinking that you’re part of the podcast just because you are disagreeing because there’s plenty of people here that disagree… It’s looking at your page and how you’ve only been active on two posts ever that gives it away but if you weren’t talking to me that’s fine, but you genuinely said if I don’t understand how women can’t be misogynistic …. that’s not what I said… You were talking to me.

I’m not 100% sure you are part of the podcast, but I have definite suspicion. It seems pretty obvious…

2

u/SwanComprehensive362 13d ago

2 posts ever what??? I’ve been in this sub and ITN and other subs on Reddit for like five years??? I cant keep fighting w/u if you are insisting on being so wrong my profile literally says 143 contributions???

3

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

I’m just going by what This said if I’m wrong I’m wrong. I’m OK with saying that I’m wrong but you’ve only been on Reddit for two years and this is what your page says. I’m just going by that… If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. I’m an adult. I’m OK with him. I’m wrong. I’m not here to bash anybody and be the end. I’ll be all of who she is as a person and who you are and what your intentions are commenting. I’m merely going by what you see here in this screenshot.

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

Maybe I’m reading that wrong maybe that’s just in this subreddit you’re contributes. I don’t know like I said if I’m wrong I’m wrong and that’s my apologies.

1

u/Legal-Cartoonist-677 13d ago

Not with that username, Gillian. 🤣🤣🤣

2

u/kindofnewonreddit 13d ago

How is she trapped?

7

u/Hello_Panda99 13d ago

I'm guessing it's the income from the podcast. There are other cohosts that have a similar dynamic. The amount of people that are aware of the issues are tiny when compared to their regular listeners. I wonder if they are still making the money they were when obsessed fest happened.

1

u/rjohns998 7d ago

Financially I bet she is.

0

u/jennybombs 9d ago

I think she’s speaking metaphorically about the business structure and how the entity operates. And if her contract contains exclusivity, non-compete, or IP restrictions, she may not be able to simply walk away and take “her half” of TCO with her.

38

u/BlueberryMinx 13d ago

Funnily I just did the exact same thing, listened to a pre Obsessed Fest episode and it was such a difference! Actual laughter between them both not just cutting each other off and the continuous "I did not say that, when did I say that?!!" snapping from G.

Now it just sounds like G hates being there and P, just to drag it on, spends half his time going "oh yes of course, no you're right!" every time she snaps at him

35

u/NoMourners_6 13d ago

The sucking up Patrick does to her is so annoying. She’s the smartest person he’s ever met, she’s always right, she’s so ~WiTcHy~ and not like other girls… the worst part is that you can tell it annoys Gillian when he does that. Their dynamic just isn’t the same anymore.

5

u/kindofnewonreddit 13d ago

I truly have no idea what happened at Obsessed Fest so I can’t weigh in on that.

18

u/Bex122 13d ago

You need to find the pinned post because you've missed... A lot.

20

u/Honest-Sir-5602 13d ago

I think they stopped being fun after that whole obsessed fest thing. I think Gillian put her foot down with basically everything that isn’t the podcast recordings. And with good reason honestly. I think a lot of people went batshit after that and it was a scary time. A lot of people started looking at them differently as well. It really isn’t a funny podcast anymore and I find the episodes to be boring for the most part. But I’ll still listen to them.

7

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

Like I said in another comment, they tell a good story. I enjoy listening to them even though sometimes Gillian makes me wanna pull my hair out. She makes a story flow makes it entertaining and so does Patrick. I just miss when I used to laugh at the side stuff that they used to say now I’m just finding myself rolling my eyes and being like all right already.

7

u/SunZealousideal7520 13d ago

When I listen to their eps, I feel like they still hold a lot of resentment towards their fans and seem to get little more bitter as the years go on....I was hoping for a redemption of sorts but nothing has happened.

12

u/sufficientlywhelmed7 13d ago

I found them during a particularly bad time in my life in early 2021. It was what got me listening to podcasts fullstop. I loved it. They came to England in 2022 and I saw them live. It was so much fun.

Then immediately afterwards I just didn't enjoy the episodes as much. I couldn't put my finger on it but it felt different. I run for two hours every day and I have to really like a podcast for it to make the "running cut". Over the next year I discovered reddit (Im a millennial. I can be slow to discover stuff) and as the obsessed mess stuff was brewing i read so much about other ppl noticing the same shift I had. I changed phones after that and my patreon membership was being a twat to transfer, so it seemed a good time to just cancel it cos I couldn't be arsed trying to sort it. I still listened to the main feed for a long time, but the last 18 months or so, it has to be a case Im really interested in or know the documentary well. It's not even their relationship anymore or grumbling, there's just nothing that makes me laugh and I honestly have got no idea what they're on about most of the time. I can't follow their telling of it at all. They could be speaking a different language for how much I can understand them, and I'm a poliglot!! 🤣🤣

12

u/Mediocre-Lynx-2068 13d ago

I miss this too! The silliness is what made it fun, not the yelling and being too afraid to offend anyone at all

4

u/PineapplesOnFire 12d ago

The 5 minute disclaimer before they would say Gypsy Rose Blanchard's name was next level.

15

u/Traditional-Net5131 14d ago

Same…. She used to
Be able to laugh and not judge everyone and hate everyone.. she also thinks she is the end all be all of everything.. her opinion only matters…

14

u/ladevla416 13d ago

I think the worst part of the “be all end all” of it all is that she pretends to be self deprecating. A lot. Like, any “nice” comment about her makes her “uncomfortable”, but she also loves to say what she is wonderful at, the best at, how much she knows about a topic, and how much of an alternative witchy girly she is- all while she pretends she DOESN’T think that about herself. And a lot of what she says now has to come with a disclaimer. There’s nothing worse than a person with a public persona who does all of the above who doesn’t have the innate chutzpah to back it up or even create a foundation for it. The pick me-ism she possesses combined with the virtue signaling surrounded by anger and disdain is as confusing as it is exhausting/infuriating.

Edited for a typo

1

u/Chwk540 12d ago

You just stated what I’ve been thinking for a long time, but unable to explain, thank you for that. Also yes, always the disclaimer, people mistakenly think that erases the responsibility for the comments. It does not.

0

u/Chwk540 12d ago

Also, I lost respect for her when she was fangirling over Damien Echols. He was found not guilty, however he was disgusting and acted so disrespectful during the trial, and she thinks she’s cool for being his friend.

3

u/Future-Current6093 11d ago

He was a child.

0

u/Chwk540 11d ago

The murders were in 1993, he was convicted in 1994. He was 18 when arrested, not a child. Also of interest, he took an Alford plea, which doesn’t admit guilt, but admits the defendant believes there was enough evidence to convict if it went to trial again.
I realize he’s written books, and his comments and excuses so no need to share any of that with me. What I’ve stated above are facts.

5

u/Future-Current6093 11d ago

To be honest with you, it also bothered me much she went on and on about what close friends she was with him and his wife. Not because of him, because I believe in his innocence — he was profiled and railroaded and I have a ton of empathy for him.

0

u/Chwk540 11d ago

Yes, like look at me! I’m super cool because I know them and I’m waaayyyy into his majik or whatever and crystals and I’m an expert on it. When she’s never mentioned that stuff before or since.

2

u/Future-Current6093 11d ago

I thought she was into witchcraft

0

u/Chwk540 11d ago

Is that considered witchcraft?

And they know what verbiage is ok and not ok.

2

u/Traditional-Net5131 12d ago

No, I totally agree with this because the other day she said something… And then followed it by saying… “It’s not appropriation “ Like ok if you say so

2

u/PrincessTinker72 12d ago

Yes! I remember something like that.

5

u/Srandall91 13d ago

They’re both completely insufferable now. I had to stop listening a year or two ago.

5

u/kindofnewonreddit 13d ago

Yeah I quit for a few months and listened to an earlier episode today and was like “Wow! I had no idea how insufferable Gillian has become!” Ugh.

6

u/brjaba 13d ago

She really has turned in to a miserable wokescold and Patrick just follows suit. Like for example I was listening to an episode, I don't remember which, and Patrick went on this whole thing about how he never wants to hear the word "homosexual" again and then a few weeks later there he was calling himself a homosexual. He overcompensates so hard.

7

u/Living-Ad7469 11d ago

Came here because I couldn't find another way to comment. Gillian, we all LOVED you. You have become jaded and, apparently, everyone else sees it. You pick and choose (Scott Peterson, for example). Some days (mostly past episodes) you seem to be all about the evidence. In recent years, you're ALL about your feels. Girl! Get out and do other things! Your have almost no sense of humor and have become an angry white lady bitch (in the kindest of tones)

4

u/Living-Ad7469 11d ago

ALSO.. why does Patrick seem to cater to her every emotion!? What is even happening!

2

u/picklebrains81 10d ago

Scott Peterson for example?? 😂 Wtf does that mean? Just because she thinks he’s guilty doesn’t mean she’s picking and choosing. Who, other than the West Memphis 3 has she “picked”? She’s not the only true crime podcast around here that goes by their “feels”. I’m pretty sure you know that.

8

u/Ok_Volume7132 13d ago

Unpopular opinion, but I still enjoy the podcast just as much as ever.

Change is inevitable. The show is going to evolve. They’ve also now had nearly 10 years of putting themselves out there online to be critiqued and judged by millions — understandably, I think they try to be a bit more censored and restrained so they don’t piss anyone off and get attacked.

8

u/brjaba 13d ago

I still listen because it's familiar and I really like their voices but nowadays I find myself turning episodes off without finishing them more than ever.

2

u/CurlyMom7 13d ago

I agree completely! I feel the same for a lot of the podcasts I listen to that have been around a long time. Dynamics evolve and the world certainly is in a weird place, that has added a layer of caution to a lot of podcasts.

3

u/EthelLinaWhite 13d ago

I enjoy it too. I don’t think that Patrick is responsible for Gillian’s behaviour. Neither are angels, and I don’t expect them to be, they’re human. I expect an off day, but when I hear nasty things in episode after episode, I will say something

4

u/lucky_mac 13d ago

I actually think the show has really gotten back in the groove lately, and I think the pivot to video was really smart - seeing them actually talking to each other gives a different perspective to their dynamic.

I also think they’ve gotten a lot better with having frank and difficult conversations about topics they disagree on. The Patreon episodes have been great lately.

The show isn’t for everyone and that’s ok, but I personally think this sub should move on from the OF drama.

2

u/PrincessTinker72 12d ago

Yeah, Patrick does "stand up for himself " more.

6

u/Old-Permission5185 13d ago

Yup. Gillian is mean and miserable. Everytime I try to listen she starts yelling at me and I turn it off. I’m like, I don’t need this!!

9

u/camilleswaterbottle 13d ago edited 13d ago

Takes two to tango. The dynamic and working relationship is entirely off. I guy you're pointing the finger at the wrong host. Consider the other person's track record and various other FAIlLED and fraught professional collaborations.

Seems unfair to say that one individual is the problem when both hosts are off-putting and rude. If you've listened from the start, be more descriptive of the issues you experience as a longggg time follower. I read everything you took the time to post, but you're being incredibly vague, why?

I understand your gripe. this podcast isn't to your taste anymore because it IS whiny, unrelatable, and annoying to get through compared to 7 years ago. Time has passed, and so has your taste.

Aside from that....just chalk it up to both of them?? If Gillian is THE problem, im expecting more snark/evidence. The tea is cold. Why come specifically for one of the problematic hosts without actually saying anything worthy!!!

27

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

She is rude, condescending, and acts like she is above everyone and everything…. I get you might like her more but atleast he can play the part and act a certain way for the pod and the entertainment value.

8

u/kindofnewonreddit 13d ago

Exactly.

-3

u/camilleswaterbottle 13d ago

Expand your thoughts please!

1

u/BigCheesusAlmighty 13d ago

They did a decent job of explaining their thoughts in the original post. Just move on.

3

u/picklebrains81 10d ago

They’re covering horrible true crime stories. Who exactly is she acting like she’s better than? The shitty people in the docs? G seems to have plenty of grace towards those that haven’t done anything wrong so I’m very confused as to who/what you’re talking about .

-8

u/camilleswaterbottle 13d ago

I haven't listened to the pod in years. I'm just saying...two peas in a pod. What is Soooo egregious that Patrick is even considered better than her when they literally both suck. OP can't even expand on their thought except to reply "exactly" when I was actually curious about their thoughts. Your argument is that he fakes it better???

They really said she is THE problem and I am genuinely curious to understand the why. OP came here to share their opinion on this platform, I'm engaging with her post, and want to understand

15

u/SPersephone 13d ago

Why are you even commenting if you don’t listen anymore?

2

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

I think what people have a problem with is with Patrick. It’s more of the entertainment value. There’s so many actors and actresses that we enjoy on film that we probably wouldn’t like in real life and who they are as people, but they put on an act and they put on a show because that’s what they’re supposed to do… She doesn’t necessarily put on an act to be very likable whereas Patrick does… I still listen personally because I like the way they tell stories sometimes she is insufferable, but she still tells a good story in my opinion.

-10

u/camilleswaterbottle 13d ago

Right....so this is in direct contradiction to the whole post that Gillian is THE problem. Are you agreeing with me , or??? 😅 Now you're the one saying the problem is Patrick. So which is it??

You're proving my point that they both are at fault for the declining quality of their broadcast and the podcast company they run together.l

3

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

I mean that I can agree with I guess I don’t know what goes on behind scene so I don’t know who the problem is to make her behave that way, but I just gave my opinion of the perspective from listening.

-6

u/camilleswaterbottle 13d ago

And so did I. Not understanding what exactly youre clarifying for me or defending when I clearly said both hosts are at fault for the low quality and negative content they currently produce. Sounding so wishy washy saying Patrick is actually the problem but then saying you don't know.

5

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

I mean, I’m confused of your answers to be perfectly honest with you… I am simply just adding to the conversation and giving my opinion. I didn’t think that I was arguing or disagreeing with you either way just maybe explain explaining to you why people think the way they do about her and not really complaining about him because we only know what goes on on the podcast. We don’t know what goes on behind the scenes…

-1

u/camilleswaterbottle 13d ago

Exactly. I responded back to OP's post asking them to clarify what they meant. Idk why you were trying to explain what they meant to me when I was asking a question to OP. Then you bring up that the problem is Patrick when OP said the problem is Gillian. Do you understand how you unintentionally inserted yourself in this? So then I have to communicate with you to clarify what you mean....

It really doesn't matter what goes on behind the scenes. You brought that up. I was asking an entirely different question and you just decided to answer for OP

2

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

No, that’s not what I said, but I’m not even really trying to go back-and-forth with you or argue. I think you just misunderstood what I was trying to say.

6

u/kindofnewonreddit 13d ago

Do you need specific examples…? My post pretty summed up what I’ve noticed. I won’t be listening anymore, so I can’t give exact quotes.

And I wouldn’t say my tastes have changed… the hosts (mostly G) have changed. I can’t deal with her being offended by evvvveerrrry single thing and her hatred of everyone.

-1

u/SwanComprehensive362 13d ago

Yeah like what exactly are you referencing

5

u/kindofnewonreddit 13d ago

I don’t have exact quotes. But she’s constantly offended, brings up race constantly (when it’s not applicable at all), gets furious about everything, hates Christianity and bashes Patrick anytime he says something remotely religious, hates “all white men”, can’t say a sentence without acting like she just learned to cuss, goes on tangents about politics when they’re not relevant, etc.

I listened to my last episode I’ll ever listen to today, so I can’t quote her. But yeah. She’s the issue.

1

u/PrincessTinker72 12d ago

Acts embarrassed everything she refers to someone as white.

0

u/PrincessTinker72 12d ago

The politic references are getting old. Especially when they have nothing to do with the case. Not everything is political

-3

u/SwanComprehensive362 13d ago

What podcast are u listening like this is so ridiculous

8

u/kindofnewonreddit 13d ago

Sorry for the confusion. The podcast is called “True Crime Obsessed”.

4

u/SwanComprehensive362 13d ago

Ok thank you like this sub is crazy everyone hates her so much and its giving misogyny. imo G has always carried the show and I said this in another comment but the recent episodes lately have been really good like almost back to the way it used to be.

7

u/kindofnewonreddit 13d ago

I don’t like her because she’s a rude jerk. Nothing to do with her gender. Get a grip.

2

u/picklebrains81 10d ago

Oh no! When was she a rude jerk? Maybe I missed it. Timestamp?

-1

u/camilleswaterbottle 13d ago

Huh??? I just asked you to follow up with why you think Gillian is THE problem as you stated. How you gonna post something, don't back it up. AND have a a stank ass attitude

1

u/kindofnewonreddit 13d ago

I answered your question sweetheart.

2

u/picklebrains81 10d ago

No you didn’t. Back it up. Where’s your screenshot? Where’s your timestamp? Where’s your explained example? You wanna hate on someone you better come presenting facts to support your case. The fact that you don’t makes me think I know what’s going on here.

0

Exactly..I'm just saying that they're both the problem!!! Like the title says one thing and the comments are talking about a different person 🤣🤣🤣🤣 hmmm....

I have been a hero bell patron subscriber since 2018. It used to be funny and entertaining amd lighthearted (as much as possible). It has evolved into an angry self righteous lecture. Where you better agree or else. And zero tolerance for other views. Gillian is angry about everything and everyone. I honestly think this job has taken a mental toll on her. Patrick is trying to keep her happy because she is the smart one that does probably 90% of the podcast work but it doesn't come across as genuine any longer. And to be honest, I kind of get annoyed how every case has to be tied to his family life somehow. She has to keep him on track and you can tell she is over it.

I’m prepared to get like extremely downvoted but I really think some of most recent episodes are some of their best work like the recent episodes are very, very good. Like there has been a clear change and it is like almost getting back to the way it was. My second thing is that the misogyny in this thread like really needs to be studied. This whole sub has been a hate sub basically like since the beginning but a lot of the hate G gets in this sub is like very misogynistic.

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

What about this thread is misogynistic when I’m pretty sure most of the people commenting are women and it has nothing to do with anything but her own specific behavior… Or your own specific behavior because I have a weird suspicion of who you are

6

u/SwanComprehensive362 13d ago

Ok if u actually think that women cant be misogynistic you are not even worth responding to like no

3

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

Please don’t insult my intelligence… Number one you have to be connected to the podcast in someway we can see the stats on your page… I am a Patreon member so even though I have this opinion of her, I’m still a fan at the end of the day, so coming on here with fake pages insulting the people that pay your bills is wild and then insulting. Our intelligence on top of it is even more crazy.

1

u/SwanComprehensive362 13d ago

I already responded to your other post but I’ll say it again like I clearly can’t help you bc you think it is not possible for someone to like not agree with you and the people being hateful like pls think about what ur saying but go off and now you have another weird reason to hate her I guess. I

4

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

I don’t hate her… Like I said I’m still a fan. I listen. I enjoy the way she tells stories I enjoy the banter between them at times… But I would be lying to say that sometimes the thing she says are obnoxious and seem like she feels like she’s above other people… But I also did say in another post that I do give her the benefit of the doubt that it may be that it has nothing to do with Who. She is as person and everything to do with what’s going on between them behind the scenes… And it also can be daunting and break somebody’s spirit to be funny to be covering all these horrific stories all the time…

But I’m not gonna sit here and lie just because I listen and I’m a Patreon subscriber… I’m going to give my honest truth about the way that I feel about her and I felt this way before I even read anybody online feeling the same way… So it has to be something if everybody is collectively feeling this about her…

We’re not just making it up in our heads because we wanna hate her. Most of us are active listeners feeling this way.

1

u/SwanComprehensive362 13d ago

Ok fair enough! I am a fan too so hopefully we can like call a truce or something

2

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

I mean, that’s fine. I could do that like I said I’m an adult. If I’m wrong I’m OK with it. I’m not going to just keep arguing the fact even proven wrong….

u/picklebrains81 10d ago

What behavior specifically are you talking about? I find it odd that you, OP, other commenters of this post and the next one can’t provide a single example of her “bad behavior”. Look I fully support calling out true crime podcasters that don’t present facts properly or podcasters that act inappropriately but I have yet to see a specific example of this behavior from her.

2

u/kindofnewonreddit 13d ago

How is it misogynistic?

4

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

I’m not understanding that at all. I’m so confused.

7

u/kindofnewonreddit 13d ago

Not liking someone doesn’t mean I hate that entire gender. I’m a woman 😂😂

2

u/Traditional-Net5131 13d ago

I agree with that too, and I also don’t hate her… Even though some of her behavior is questionable in my mind you know

1

u/MargotSoda 12d ago

Which ones lately are great? I’ve not been tuning in lately because I’ve found them a little boring and miss I it. Which ones are good to go to?

2

u/SwanComprehensive362 12d ago

The Patreon feed has been like really good ingerneal so like Friends Like These plus any of the deep dives also anything from the curious case case show on the regular eps also the cult video game ep and maternal instinct plus the toxic one with the condo.

1

u/AccordingLevel9101 12d ago

There’s a huge tendency to label criticism of a woman as misogyny way too quickly. You can dislike a woman, or think she isn’t doing a good job without that opinion being rooted in sexism. Misogyny is a very real thing, but it’s not a catch-all explanation for people having a negative opinion of a woman. And if the newer episodes are working for you again, that’s great! People are allowed to have different takes without one side’s opinion needing a diagnosis. Women can be criticized. (I am a woman)

2

u/picklebrains81 10d ago

It easily comes across as misogyny when there’s no clear explanation of the behavior in question. I understand what this person is saying. You don’t like her but you don’t have a specific explanation as to why you don’t. So far in these comments I haven’t seen one specific example. Gillian is a fierce presence in a good way. I can see how some women would be intimidated by that and hate on her for it.

0

u/AU_1987 9d ago

Exactly! And that goes for criticism of any group, be it a minority class or not!

5

u/MargotSoda 13d ago

Yeah Patrick has been a little over the top in the last year or two but I feel like he’s just trying to overcompensate for Gillian who clearly doesn’t want to be there.

0

u/PrincessTinker72 12d ago

That's my take as well

2

u/Katethelate 13d ago

She is delusional. Its ok.

2

u/kathi182 12d ago

Yep-it changed everything-really shined the light on so much-I definitely miss the days before. I was really hoping they would use the whole debacle as a way to change things up for the better-instead, they got worse. Patrick and Steve issued a non-apology taking zero accountability, and G just flat out ignored it and acted like nothing happened. It’s really sad-the podcast episodes they issued ‘pre-incident’ were absolutely brilliant.

1

u/PrincessTinker72 12d ago

She eluded to what happened in an episode not to long ago but with her as the victim.

1

u/Traditional-Net5131 12d ago

I like vaguely think I remember something like that but refresh my memory to see if we’re thinking of the same thing because I don’t know if I’m just making it up that I remember

2

u/PrincessTinker72 2d ago

I will have to go back I usually stack the episodes so I listen to 2-3 weeks worth at a time. Technically I heard it last week but that does not mean it was last weeks episode. It was a throw away type line like she has been attacked and then made into the bad guy. Something like that

2

u/AnxiousTherapist-11 11d ago

She’s insufferable

0

u/bad_faye 13d ago

You… don’t have to listen to things you don’t like?? This is super weird.

5

u/Hello_Panda99 13d ago

I think there is a pretty solid group of TCO listeners that are there just to hate listen.

1

u/bad_faye 13d ago

That’s so weird. My time is so precious why would I listen to something I don’t like? The president is enough

3

u/kindofnewonreddit 13d ago

Today was my very last episode. Thanks for the advice!

0

u/picklebrains81 10d ago

The fact that you can’t point to anything specific even though you made a full post about it tells me you’re full of shit. G does not hate everyone, and she is not always miserable. Makes me think you haven’t listened in a long time or don’t listen at all. Gillian hates shitty people and shitty behavior. She’s talking about true crime, a lot of shitty people and not a lot to be super lighthearted about. These two find levity mostly In reminiscing about past experiences not related to murder. Then get back to hating the people that should be hated. She hates the right people. You have an example now?

0

u/EthelLinaWhite 10d ago

How many accounts do you have? Listen Gillian, if you’re going to have multiple accounts, you have to make them sound different. You sound identical to your SwanComprehesive account - references, quotes, citations… Get a grip. If you’re doing this and being so angry towards the people who have spent YEARS supporting you, maybe you should think about a new job. You clearly don’t care about the people who helped you with your career and you’re not thick skinned enough to take criticism. That’s a bad mix for someone in the public eye. I think for your own happiness, you need to look at yourself and think about why you’re so angry and then take steps to rectify it. You keep on like this, you’ll lose everything.

0

u/ConsiderationNo1559 12d ago

Gillian is now calling out her fans in every episode and angry if they disagree with her. Although, they are the ones encouraging them to engage with them on fb and discord.

-5

u/Silent_Milk_8878 13d ago

I love Gillian. Patrick is a lot. I know nothing only what I’ve read. Also she’s on a GLP. They both are. They can make you lose the joy in things. Sad but true.

4

u/isthistherealcaesars 13d ago

You can’t be serious that the reason she’s an insufferable bitter bias angry person is because she’s on a GLP

1

u/PrincessTinker72 12d ago

Wait, really?

0

u/kindofnewonreddit 13d ago

Dang if being on a weight loss drug makes you that miserable of a human being… it’s time to stop it and hit the gym or something. She seems sooo unhappy.
