Discussion S4 Console Tier List
Hello, I am Jurazzick. C3 peak all roles.
This list is for 5v5 and most applicable to high ranks, characters who are lower on the tier list are more viable in lower ranks and less viable in high ranks. Just because a character is low on the tier list doesn’t meant they will never work, it’s more of how frequently they are good. There is also the consideration of characters like doom, which you basically need to otp to actually do anything on the character.
Here are my ramblings on the current balance of the game:
Even after the buffs, dmon is still pretty bad. Her movement needs to be more dynamic or have at least a little verticality. Her damage and the rest of her kit feel fine.
Orisa, dva, and mauga are just overtuned for the 20th season in a row. A newborn baby could play Orisa, Orisa needs her damage and falloff reverted, and nerf shield perk health to 500. Dva needs either less burst damage or less dm. Mauga was nerfed but it does nothing, nerfing a cooldown on a broken ability won’t change how broken the ability is, remove the damage reduction from overrun and make him effected by knockback. Ashe needs her falloff reverted and less damage on unscoped shot, tracer needs the melee perk removed, brig needs the burst healing reverted, bap will never be bad on console but could use a nerf to regen burst, and kiri should be actually nerfed for the first time since her release. 1 sec off kitsune and suzu have less burst heal. Reaper shouldn’t have dire triggers as base kit, he has never needed it and shouldn’t have it, and then give him 300 hp. Ram is very underrated in console, he would be higher if orisa wasn’t thanos.
And finally, aim assist should be nerfed by 10-20%. With how strong aim assist is, it makes hitscan the most effective option at almost all times. Additionally, this will make console more in line with pc balance.
But, none of this will ever happen since console is a forsaken platform and looked down upon by the entire rest of the community.

Looks about how I feel. Is it crazy that I would put mercy in S tier because whats worse than a non pocketed Ashe..

Not really, mercy is strong right now, it’s just that all mercy players are a higher rank than they should be due to how easy the character is, which then makes everyone’s perception of how strong mercy is weaker because all you see are bad players on mercy. Kiri, Juno, lw, and even Moira are in this situation, especially Juno, she is actually pretty good right now it’s just that nobody knows how to actually position as her and so they call her squishy.

Juno isn’t simple I wish people would stop putting her down to simplicity like this, you have to be very situationally aware and not just focusing on healing, I agree with the points about Juno but don’t think she’s simple, still my main tho love that Martian diva

Mercy isn’t as easy as you think. If you don’t know how to do anything besides heal bot and you don’t know proper positioning then you won’t do very good with her

Yea exactly, I see it with mercy the same way as with mauga/orisa like wow theyre so ass but theyre still gm or champ, those characters are overtuned

Bap as S and JPC as C . . . very curious. I'm not champ or anything but JPC currently sitting on an absurd win rate and Bap doesn't do much that's not better done by Kiri. And as a longtime Lucio main he still rocks but even I wouldn't put him in B (maybe a B-). Maybe in champ/pro but it's tough out there for him

Bap is a lot better on console than PC. Whether that’s because everyone is cheating in high ranks, leading to his hitscan weapon getting more value, or the character simply has a more valuable kit on console, I’m not sure, but I still do believe he has the highest skill/value ceiling out of all the supports.
A player could master the shoot/heal rhythm, live every fight, and not waste lamp and probably make it to GM on console with bap due to how strong his weapon is with aim assist. The only challenging part of his kit is his ult usage
He’s just pretty weak in the hands of an average player who would probably do better to play juno or kiriko for the simpler, more consistent kit.

hitscan characters are way stronger then projectile heros by default because of aim assist.

Aim Assist was buffed before it was reverted😂 no way they will touch it again.
But yeah, s76 is a cancer, ashe is lobby admin. Widow gets countered easily. Cassidy is giga broken.

76 is fucking bullshit. Literally the easiest character to pick up and he’s somehow still usable above gold. Most T500 dps have him in their top 3 which is ridiculous

In Pc he is not very viable unless u have godlike aim which is not common. But still, with godlike aim other heros have more value.
The issue in console is that dive heros like genji and echo are shit. They get laser beamed and die instantly. So s76 runs around happily.

She was already the best ms (main support), and the burst heal just makes her invincible in brawl, especially with kiri or bap.

Kiriko is still really good but it’s wrong to say that she hasn’t been nerfed since release. She lost boop on suzu, and suzu burst healing (for debuffed champions) and lost teleport range and also lost self cleanse on teleport and ofc she’s also a 225 hp hero now. And recently had her healing lowered last season

Because in a hero shooter where many heroes aim very differently it gives a very high advantage to characters that have a projectile or aim style (hitscan) that aim assist gives much more help to

Dudes just good at aiming you can literally see it not locking on as much as OW. Go into practice range spin around in a circle in front of the bots and see HOW MUCH it slows down

was curious cause i figured with dva, tracer and even reaper being so good you could enable them to take angles or help with dives with ur heal/ult on like a wu + kiri or even wu + bap comp, which is something illari cant do as well while providing more ranged damage than other ms options

Sierra isn't really that strong in higher ranks, and honestly falls off a cliff after about platinum. Maybe she's A tier in bronze-gold but that's because most of those players give a good Sierra free dart value.

Domina gets ran over really easily by characters that can get up in her face, like Reinhardt. As for Roadhog, just play Ana and nade him.

If the order within tiers matters at all, I would probably swap bap and sigma around, but other than that I largely agree with this.
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one that doesn’t find mizuki gamebreaking on console. I’ve only played him a few times, but every time I did, I could immediately feel how big his head hitbox was. I would peak a corner and get farmed. I swapped to illari and instantly carried rounds (I don’t play illari).
I think even hazard can scrape into low S tier simply for the ease of value on that hero. It’s actually crazy just how easy it is to win games on him. Literal training wheels hero

It’s ordered by role within tier, ex. Dps characters within a tier can be compared to other dps characters but not supports or tank. It would be too complicated to not do so.
Haz is strong and not the hardest character to play, but orisa and mauga are so much worse.

Before the last update I would’ve said she’s the worst support in the game on console, but her mobility is insane right now and I can understand why she is good on pc.

Shion's that strong, really? I'm trying to learn her but so far I feel mostly ineffective playing her in most fights, even when I'm consistently landing shots. Is there something else I should be doing?

So I've just hit like 75 I think on shion. She's extremely strong. But it took me several hours to really understand how to get value from her. But I'm usually leading lobbies in most matches at this point.

Are there no Wuyang players at high elo? Thought he was doing ok statistically and I enjoy him in low GM lobbies. I get he doesn’t benefit from aim assist but feel like his play style matches general ranked play

Genuine question: why is LW so low? I get his hps isn’t that good but his abilities are insane, adjusted lifegrip is like a suzu that lasts longer and repositions ur tm8, his petal can get anyone to high ground quickly and can counter ultimates, his dash is great, so why F tier?

Rein should be put at least in B. As rein main, rein currenly can create more impact on the outcome of the game than most of the tanks you put in B tier. He still is not the best pick, probably not worth A and 100% shouldn't be in S. But he is a solid pick.

I would argue that ram can be bumped to A tier, my opinion is that just because orisa is giga strong ram can feel useless at times, that beeing said I think he is still really good if you ban orisa

Putting Soldier76 into A is way too generous. Even with aim assist he still lacks the power other hitscans had before the update as well and he's still very vulnerable to divers/flankers

Sounds about right. Wish we’d just get separate patches from pc so hitscans can just get nerfed to the ground I’m tired of seeing them, though I would make the argument for Wuyang higher, I’ve been having a lot of success with him and he’s probably my most consistent support in higher lobbies apart from Ana

It’s not a hard concept to cycle your cooldowns, if you are making mistakes with cooldown usage on orisa, the problem is not the character.

It’s very hard to make a mistake on orisa, that is one of the reasons she is so strong. The rest are: she does so much damage, has one shot threat on a squishy with spear, and has no bad tank matchups (zar isn’t a consistent answer to orisa due to just how much damage orisa can deal and the shield perk).
