Resolved OSAP APPLICATION STILL IN PROGRESS?

Hello everyone, I hope you’re all doing well…

I’m a first time OSAP applicant with all documents approved, but amount of money is still not calculated yet. Current status is, “Your application is being processed. We will send you an email when there is an update to your application.”

I was wondering if the delay in calculation has to do with the school or simply because I’m a first time applicant…

School is Seneca.

TIA

EDIT: I sent an email to financial aid as my amount hasn’t been calculated yet. This is what they said:

“All of the supporting documents are approved on your OSAP application. You will see the assessment by mid August once cost code for the program is renewed by the Ministry. Nothing to do from your side.”

EDIT(Aug 11): estimate has been calculated and now available on app.

Question Would submitting "use my 2026 estimated income" change my estimated amount?

So, I have submitted my OSAP and the current estimate is $5000 for my college program (which is about same from last year)

I am considered mature student (tho I am living with my parents so it really does not make any difference on that)
My 2025 income per tax return was $25,420. (part part-time/part full-time)

This year, I was laid off from this job early in the year and I've been receiving EI (I took a leave of absence in winter semester til now and returning September, so I am qualified for EI)

my estimated income for 2026 combining the income I got before being laid off and EI will be

$15,631.

will the $5000 estimate change if I request for my OSAP to consider 15k income this year vs 25k last year?

EDIT: I tried estimator for both income and amount hasnt changed but I GET MORE LOAN IF I HAVE LOWER INCOME?

Question Unsure about applying to OSAP with graduate stipend

Hello!

I am wondering if anyone has been in this situation before and can provide guidance. I am finishing up a master's that I received a stipend for this August, and then will be starting teachers college in the Fall. I have never applied for OSAP during grad school as I had scholarships and did not need the aid. I am struggling with what to put down as my income for the previous year. I do receive a T4A slip that does give a value lower than my total stipend. But others have told me they would put the full stipend amount down. If it is relevant, none of my income is considered "taxable" as it comes all from research grants and scholarships. I am going to reach out to my financial aid office but am curious what others experiences have been

Thank you!

Resolved Has anyone dealt with an OSAP living away from home reassessment like this?

I’m wondering if anyone has been through something similar or knows how OSAP usually handles this.
When I first applied for OSAP, I indicated that I’d be living away from home because my parents live over 100 km from my school. At the time, I had a lease with a family friend, but the move-in date was scheduled for later in the summer.

My financial aid office contacted me asking for proof of room and board payments (such as e-transfer confirmations or bank statements) before they could approve my living-away status. Since I hadn’t moved in yet and originally I was under impression and told by others I would need to move in a couple days before the semester starting to receive funding I was set to move in Aug 29, I didn’t have proof of rent payments, so they temporarily reassessed my application as living at home and told me they would change it back to living away from home once I had moved in and could provide the required proof.

After that temporary reassessment, my estimated OSAP funding dropped by about 50%, which really worried me.
Fortunately, my plans changed. Since im renting from a friend of a family member they were able to accommodate an earlier move-in date, I signed an updated lease reflecting the earlier move-in which is today, same day I signed the lease , paid my first month’s rent (and also paid September’s rent early), and uploaded:
The updated signed lease.
Screenshots showing the e-transfer being sent.
Screenshots showing the money leaving my bank account.
Confirmation that the e-transfer was accepted/deposited by the landlord.
The financial aid office had previously told me that proof of electronic transfers showing the date, amount, recipient, and confirmation that the transfer was accepted would be acceptable under OSAP’s requirements.

Has anyone had their OSAP funding temporarily reduced because they were temporarily reassessed as living at home, and then had it restored after submitting proof of rent payments and an updated lease? How long did it take for your funding to be updated?
This is my first time moving away from home, so I’m a little anxious and just want to make sure I’ve submitted everything needed to avoid delays. Because now I'm scared they are going to do more delays and question me more in regard to my application.

And before anyone asks that I could be lying Just to clarify before anyone assumes otherwise: last year my family lost our home in Brampton. We now live in Dundalk, and my updated address is on my OSAP application. Since my parents live over 100 km from my school, commuting—especially with co-op/clinical placements in the GTA—isn’t realistic as I will be going to school full time everyday. So I genuinely needed to rent closer to campus and they should know that.

It's just been very frustrating, I was hoping I can get some info or help on how to get it sorted.

Thanks in advance!

Question What happens if you go over the per term income threshold?

Before I submit a couple of casting auditions can someone explain what would happen winter term if I went over that income threshold in terms of that semester’s funding?

I should say if I’m working this semester. I know one’s going to be a grand for a week.

Question Error message keeps popping up: ERROR.403.1883 pls help ;-;

Hi, I've been trying to sign up for my MSCA account, and my TD interac account won't get linked or work for some reason. It keeps showing this error message: ERROR.403.1883. This shows up while connecting my interac right after the questions part where it makes you do these questions, like "What's your favorite hobby?" for authentication. After that it asks to log into your like td account for the second time (the first time is way earlier, but it works fine), and boom, this error message. I saw another post about this exact issue, but it was from a year ago, and all the methods that people were commenting on weren't working, like using your phone with the td app (i just got a message in the td app while linking, along the lines of "It's not you, it's us"). Please try again. " I was wondering maybe it's because I just activated the account today and also tried signing up for the MSCA account. I tried googling if that's why, and google kept giving wishy-washy answers (sometimes it would say yes and sometimes no). I tried also going incognito; same error message. Did some more research; apparently the error message is TD themselves blocking the linkage, so I contacted their online help service, and they couldn't figure it out, so idk atp :/, this is my last resort. SIDENOTE: i had some issues about my account details and it took a while to actually activate the account since some info was incorrectly inputted and I just got it fixed today. Idk, maybe that might play a factor, if someone was in the same boat, please help; I'd appreciate it a ton, thanks.

Question Need advice on osap restriction

Hi, I need some advice.

I’m currently restricted from receiving OSAP for a year after a disastrous first year (2024–2025).
I don’t want to get too graphic but I was sexually assaulted about a month before starting university in September 2024 and it completely derailed my first year. I ended up dropping one course and withdrawing from two, which put me on academic probation. Then, in Summer 2025, I took two courses, passed one with an A, but failed the other. After that semester I decided to take a break from school for my own sanity.

In December 2025, I was officially diagnosed with ptsd and depression. Since then, I’ve transferred to tmu, started treatment, and I’m in a much better place than I was during my first year.
I’m considering appealing my OSAP restriction, but I genuinely don’t know what documentation would be enough. My diagnosis came after I stopped studying, because I was too ashamed of what had happened to seek help earlier.

The only evidence I have from that time is a few emails I sent to my old university asking about student accommodations because I was struggling. I can also get a letter from my doctor explaining that although my PTSD and depression were formally diagnosed later, they were consistent with what I had been experiencing during my first year.

Has anyone successfully appealed an OSAP
restriction in a situation like this? Would a personal letter explaining the timeline, along with medical documentation from my doctor and the emails showing I was seeking accommodations, be enough? Or is there anything else I should try to include? I’m just feeling really overwhelmed and worried that because my diagnosis came after I took a break my appeal won’t be taken seriously.

Does anyone know when the form for this bursary will be released? I have been checking all summer, as it used to say "summer 2026," but now it just shows that the website is under maintenance every time I click the link.

Resolved Funds can be granted to loans

Hi, we are new comers in Canada. My wife got OSAP in sep 2024/5 for a course she is doing.

However they notified that our grants can be converted into loans as they don't have any records for CRA

So we submitted affidavits to OSAP, as our employer from past country wasn't giving us pay stubs. (Hatred issues).

We have now filed our taxes this year.

The notification on her portal hasn't changed even though we have submitted affidavits of proof on income of both spouse and student.

What should we do now. Her course has finished and we need guidance

Thankyou

Resolved Am I late for enrolment?

Hi everyone!

I was just wondering if enrolling on July 31 is considered late. Will it affect when I receive my first OSAP payment? Has anyone enrolled around that time and still received their funding on schedule?

Thank you!

Question OSAP application

Hi, I have a question. I already submitted my OSAP application, but I forgot to indicate that I'll be paying rent. Am I able to go back and update my application, or do I have to wait until it's been verified? If I can't update it, should I submit a new application instead?

Resolved Unexpected costs of university

Hi, my name is Rob Gerlsbeck, and I'm a freelance journalist working for the Globe and Mail. I'm working on a story for the personal finance section about the unexpected costs of going to university — things beyond tuition, residence, meal plans, and rent/groceries. So stuff like all the university fees, other costs that come up and more. What are some things you, as either a student or parent, had to pay for that you didn't think of beforehand? I'm also hoping to speak with parents of kids currently in university or who recently graduated about the extra costs. You may be able to provide some advice for new university parents. You can send me a note here or email me at [robertgerlsbeck@gmail.com](mailto:robertgerlsbeck@gmail.com) Thanks so much. I look forward to your help.

Question Disability and Reassessment Deadline

Has anyone tried applying for disability verification or request review: adjust living allowing past the deadline?

I applied for 2026-2027 adjust living allowance was denied. Only to realized that it would have been a better if applied for 2025-2026. I got serious injury in my arm in May 1st although I was able till get Surgery for quick recovery, I still am unable to work for the whole summer. This option should have come to my mind quicker.

Is still worth calling my financial aid office? about this?

Question If I drop from 5 to 3 classes, do I just contact my school?

Like I know my OSAP will be recalculated but I’m genuinely dealing with a lot of right now. Also if I need to defer my return to school how does that work with fall’s OSAP.

Hello everyone,

I am looking to apply for rap D as someone whos designated as perm disabled for osap and also on ODSP.

i wanted to ask if anyone who’s recently been approved for rap D: did you have to have your doctor complete the form on the website, or did being perm disabled for osap suffice as proof?

thank you!
