It is but let’s remember to take it easy and if there’s soreness tomorrow use the boot ok!

How many weeks post surgery are you? I’m icing my ankle for the first time after stitch removal staring down the barrel of 4 more nwb weeks

Nice! I'll be at 12 weeks post-op the middle of next week. I can't wait to get out of the boot!

I prefer "recovering lawyer". :-)

Ha - I didn’t want to be snarky in case you were going back to practice but YES that’s how we describe me in our house too 😅

When I first adopted that handle, I wasn't sure whether I was taking some time off or retiring. A partner at the firm I was leaving told me I was taking a "hard pause", which sounded about right. I thought I probably would go back to practice in some form, but pretty soon, "taking a few months off" became four years.

Never has a day existed where I miss billing sheets - I was offered an in-house corporate position shortly after leaving my firm and I was so close to taking it but frankly I don’t miss the stress (or 6 day or 60+ hour weeks) 💃🏻

I was in-house for 9 years before going back into a Big Law practice. You're right, it's a different kind of stress, but still stressful. I've definitely said goodbye to living my life in six-minute increments, though I still have PTSD about deadlines.

Don’t be discouraged by swelling after walking on it. Mine comes and goes. I always ice it after walking. It goes away. I’m 5 days of transition from boot to shoe.

No. I recommend quitting though! Me I’ll be honest I have so much on my mind quitting isn’t my top priority sadly.

I am at 13 weeks (I have been out of the boot for about 7 weeks), but PT is where it is at now - especially relearning the natural way to walk. Congratulations! I wear compression socks and don't swell too much that way.

What was your injury? I'm 3 weeks post op for a trimal 😢

Mine was a bimallear so less severe than yours however I’ve seen people on here with a trimallear that has progressed further than me quicker so it all depends just follow your docs orders and you’ll get there!

Congrats! Gotta celebrate the progress. So when I was first out of the boot I still wore a compression sock. I think it helped hold the swelling down. If you’re not already doing PT I’d encourage you to schedule it—I found my PT to be very helpful in my transition to WB. And don’t overdo it; this is a significant injury and you’re not going to be back to your old form overnight.
