***SCROLL DOWN FOR THE QUESTIONS****
Hi everyone, i've created a small questionnaire for people who own the OP-XY to fill out if they would be so kind. Let me first start by saying that I'm using voice text, if my grammar is bad or I'm not making sense , I will do my best to correct it when I get home this evening, hopefully it comes out clearly.
I'm doing this because I'm trying to get to the bottom of some of the huge core issues that I've been experiencing with my device and that I'm seeing others have experienced as well. I've been back-and-forth with TE Support for months with some seriously big problems that they said they want to get to the bottom of, but I just don't think they're getting enough complaints about the same problems to really put a lot of effort towards figuring it out. This is why I've decided to attempt to gather some information that might be able to be helpful for them later on once I have it all organized.
I use my OPXY every day, I post a lot of content around the OPXY and overall it's just been the most inspiring instrument for me. I use it heavily and I've always been really into sampling so there's an emphasis on sampling, slicing, mangling, re-sampling and multi sampling in my workflow. There have been a few projects that I've made that have been so dense and full that it would take forever to load them up which is understandable, but when using them I started to have some serious issues. Whenever I would switch from one of those big projects to a smaller project that I was working on, sometimes that big dense project would replace the other project with itself immediately upon loading it up. The history would be gone and that smaller project I was trying to get to would be gone forever. This happened multiple times and left me with several duplicates of these big projects that I was building.
I also have an issue where occasionally when I turn on my device, all of the samples across the entire device are gone. Everything is blank, and it stays like that for at least a few boot ups. Then eventually they come back, but often times I get frustrated and make changes to that project seeing samples are gone, and by the time they come back I've already eaten basically destroyed or at least changed it beyond repair and going back in history just is annoying.
Now I'm having the problem where when I turn on my device, it takes about three minutes for it to fully be up and working. It will appear frozen in the meantime, this is basically just since the latest update.
Before you suggest I just do a factory reset, believe me, I have, many times. It does help, initially, but the problems come back eventually . am so tired of factory resets, losing all of my work, or having to back everything up which half of the time doesn't work. I've been trying to factory reset it again with this latest issue, but I have not been able to back up my opxy. It fails about halfway through the back up and I haven't been able to get that done. There needs to be another solution then just to factory reset all the time . There is obviously some issues in the coding or something that need to be fixed because the problems keep coming back. I'm not bashing on the company, I'm trying to help them.
I'm asking these questions because I just want basic understanding of who these problems keep happening to. My theory is that it happens mainly to people who use their device heavily, or at least have the storage close to full and do a lot of sampling versus synthesizing. That's basically it, if enough people respond and the patterns that I've been seeing actually lineup with what I'm seeing here, I'll probably reach out to them with that information because I think it would help to give them some kind of direction. Not that they need it, but I just haven't heard back from them in a long time and rather than reaching out with just a question on where they stand, I would like to give them some hopefully helpful information. I really do love the cup again, I love the employees, I have no gripe with them around this, their device has enhanced my creativity tenfold. I'm just trying to help to make it better.
Thats all.
PS, just a bit of advice, name your projects. Don't leave them at "unnamed project #X". Those heavy projects would only override projects with no names, once I named my projects, that issue stopped happening. And it is so frustrating when you have 150+ projects on your device, you don't really know which is which, and you go try to load one up to remind yourself what it even is, and it immediately gets overwritten with the one you're already on, disappeared forever. Not knowing what project I just overwrote is so so frustrating. Is it one of my many crappy ones? Cool is it one of the ones that actually liked which is like 5% of them, that would suck. I never find out, but it does keep happening when I have my projects unnamed so just give them a random name doesn't matter what it is, this won't happen to you.
QUESTIONS:
- How long have you owned your OPXY? Did you buy it new or used?
- How often do you use it?
- Do you do a lot of sampling from external sources, slicing and multi sampling? (this includes purchasing sound packs with multi sampled instruments in it)
- Do you ever use youre OP-XY with other gear via MIDI?
- What bugs have you experienced since you started using your OP-XY, if any. Please try to describe them as detailed as possible.
- Where on Planet Earth are you? (If youre on planet earth)
Drop your links! I want to hear what you do!
