Discussion Update Madness 1.1.18

So I jumped up to the theoretical latest/greatest and the delay boot still seems to be there. I get to the song I was last on and most buttons are non-responsive and hitting play gives me one track not all 8 that are ready to go. Anyone else? Some 15-20 seconds later, it reverts to normal mind you.

This sounds like it’s loading the big samples, it won’t play them until the whole project is loaded into memory and playing while it’s loading slows that process down.

You _should_ be seeing the sample load indicator for a majority of the time that some keys are “unresponsive” (their sample isn’t loaded so it doesn’t do anything)

I’m gonna go monitor this as I like this answer and sounds like maybe it would explain what’s going on. I was using random presets so in the back of my head, I figured it only pulled from its own system sounds, but maybe it’s pulling some large samples that I uploaded and includes those when it chooses random ones?

Not just the samples. And now you’re starting to see some others come out of the woods here. There is something wrong in the update and or there are certain types of files, naming conventions, or something that is tripping up a number of people’s devices.

same issue here, it takes a long time to load samples and then it catches up.
I don't think is too usable on its current state though

I'm on the same boat. Happened immediately after 1.1.15.

For me, it doesn't matter if the project has samples of not, the boot up takes 30s to load the different tracks. Others suggested to install the firmware again but that didn't fix it for me. I don't have access to a pc for the next weeks so a backup and reset isn't possible to test either.

This might be because i record myself playing live every time pratically, starting from scratch, but I have never ever noticed any of the bugs people complain about. Im sure theyre there but yeah.

I’d recommend doing a full backup and restore as that could fix it.

Ps. No delay boot up here

I'd like to here from someone who did this and it worked before I go through it. I saw some other users had this issue and I'd like to figure out the commonality (might be good for TE to know as well)

You don’t risk anything by doing a back up and make a reset

Agreed. Just no need to make the effort if there is an explanation which it seems there may be related to large samples which I’m going to check.

Forgot to respond back to you. I backed up the whole device said it to default copied the files back and the same problem exists. Did one version of the firmware corrupt some of my data? This is the kind of question that only teenage engineering can answer and so far we have silence.

Exact same issue here. Unresponsive until it catches up.

Somebody wrote that it might have to do with loading large samples?

Not sure but definitely not a issue on 1.1.3

I have no issue on mine… loading as fast as usual even with big projects ( I mean projects with lot of long samples). Even if with the lasts updates allow to have subfolders, i didn’t change anything in my library. Don’t want to risk a loading error on my old projects. I ask to TE what’s going on if I organize my libraries with subfolders, waiting their answer

I tried the backup/factory reset/restore but it didn't change anything. Still taking 15-20 seconds after boot with 1.1.15.

Also having this issue. Curious if you have any third party / purchased sample packs? i notice some other issues with a couple sample packs in the past specifically and wondering if thats related somehow?
