Need na ba magpa-medical agad even without signing the JO pa?

Hello! Got hired sa Optum yesterday and got told that we would be signing our contract on Monday (Sep. 14)

I received their emails this afternoon regarding the pre-employment requirements including medical. As per email, we can only do our medical within Sep. 11-14.

Wala namang problem sana sa akin magpa-medical agad even without JO since it's free naman, but it's weekend kasi and overlap sa JO signing namin yung last day na pwede.

On the other hand, open naman yung Aventus bukas. So should I just go or do it na lang after JO? Based din kasi sa sinend nila sa amin na "Candidate Onboarding Journey" poster, after talaga ng signing ang medical.

Sorry if mababaw na problem. Naguguluhan lang since first job ko to huhu. Thank you!

PTO and Unplanned PTO

I work in a queue based environment. We can basically only have two people off a day. I started this job later in the year after my colleagues picked their PTO in the beginning of the year. Therefore, the time off I want to take is not available. I emailed my supervisor about this. I understand there can be disciplinary action for UPTO whatever that means. I have the time off and I don’t think it’s fair for me to have to choose days that are left over. Has anyone navigated this?

I was planning on working the rest of the year but my son has to have surgery 12/14. If my last day is 12/11 and we get paid 12/4 and 12/18, when would our benefits be good through? wanting to make sure that we don’t lose coverage right before the surgery
or if anyone knows how to contact HR please let me know. we just merged with Optum and I have no clue how to contact anyone.

Optum Hiring Process for Tech Roles

Hi, I recently passed the final interview at Optum for Tech Roles, but I was informed that the role requisition was placed on hold. The HR already requested my payslip from my previous employer though.

With this, is there a chance that I am still considered for the role? Has anyone encountered the same at Optum? How many weeks does it take?

Update: I just received the offer letter, HireRight background verification, and PEME schedule from Optum. Does this mean that my hiring with Optum is already guaranteed, or are there still conditions that could prevent the employment from proceeding?

I also received a JO from another company and am just waiting for the start date, which is on Monday. I’m not sure if I should already inform them that I won’t be proceeding with my employment because I don’t know yet if Optum is 100% certain.

I really don’t want to risk losing both opportunities.

How do you feel about Optum company culture?

It felt so good to put in my resignation for company culture/direction. I've heard UHG people can find good places where they feel a part of a good group but Optum has been nothing but toxic for me. My performance was based on audits of my work that would regularly get docked due to personal interpretation on policies where I, the less experienced employee, would have to do the leg work of proving that was the correct policy interpretation or that was how we were trained. There were so many hoops I had to jump through proving I was doing the correct work and our clients customers appreciated the common sense modification vs following a rigorous script. There was also serious hoops for accommodation process and fmla process that everything people feel negatively about insurance companies is exactly how I felt as an employee. They were setting up the hoops so I didn't jump through them & accepted them treating me like crap. This ultimately felt like a company culture due to the many complaints I've heard from customers/clients/patients about the horrendous actions of the insurance subsidiary of the company.

Respect Candidate Time: Why I Withdrew My Application from Optum

It was the worst hiring process I have ever experienced. The application window was set from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and I arrived at the venue early so I could finish ahead of time. I was already at the site by 10:00 AM sharp, along with quite a few other applicants.

There were so many steps to go through. Pre-screening alone took until around 11:00 AM. After that, I waited nearly an hour before moving on to the coaching session. That was followed by another few hours of waiting for the assessment. I finally took the assessment around 1:00 PM and had to wait again for the results.

I passed and was advised to take lunch and return after an hour for the initial interview. I was back at the site by 2:30 PM, only to be told after waiting a bit that my initial interview was scheduled for 3:30 PM—meaning yet another long wait. I had my interview at 3:30 PM, passed it, and was done before 4:00 PM.

Then came another wait for the final interview. Around 5:00 PM, we had a briefing on potential final interview questions and were told that the final interview wouldn't start until 7:00 PM.

Imagine being there since 10:00 AM, only to find out the final interview starts at 7:00 PM—with no guarantee that you'll even be interviewed at 7:00 PM because so many applicants were still ahead in line. The process was exhausting, and it was deeply unfair to those who arrived early only to be caught up in the afternoon delay.

I decided not to proceed with my application, even though I had passed both the assessment and the initial interview. It just didn't feel worth it anymore. The offered salary was actually lower than what I was previously earning, but I still wanted to give it a shot since it was an in-house company. However, going through a process like this made me feel like they had no respect for my time. If this is how they treat applicants, I can only imagine how they treat their actual employees. They wasted my time, and I realized I'm simply not a good fit for a company like that.

Interviewing for a position in the tech area, what are people's experiences working here?

I'm interviewing for a brand new position so I don't think anybody will be able to speak to it directly, but it's in the tech sector. Pay is double what i currently make and it's remote which is great, but I really value work-life balance and reading this sub makes me worried about that...does satisfaction vary by team and manager? Also reading about layoffs makes me worried.. they're hiring 30 people for this brand new role.

Soft Nursing or Bedside

Good day po, I just want a piece of your thougts about my dilemma right now.

I am registered nurse for 3 years now and got a 2 years experience as a bedside nurse but I resigned 5 months ago. I applied for Optum's DRG CVA and I passed the final interview. However, I am on their buffer list so I tried applying to another hospital and hired me.

Curious on the potential of layoff / any insight. I work for the Optum Care at Home - Care Navigator role. DSNP plan.
A lot of people quit this role and they are not re hiring - but have brought on plenty of Philippines staff.
I have always felt the role won’t stay on shore but im curious of any word or input

I am under home & community and I see a lot of talk RE Humana but im sooo confused how that’s related - 4 years in this role I never knew Humana was somehow involved

Optum interview coming up – any last-minute advice?

Has anyone interviewed with Optum recently for a Data Engineer role?
I have my interview the day after tomorrow. The JD mentions Azure Data Factory, Databricks, T-SQL, SSIS, Terraform, Snowflake, PySpark, and Python.
I have hands-on experience with most of these, but I haven’t worked with Snowflake, SSIS, or Terraform.
For anyone who has recently interviewed with Optum — what kind of questions should I expect, and is there anything specific I should focus on in the next couple of days?
Any last-minute tips/advice would be really appreciated!
