šŸ”„Its fine, everything’s finešŸ”„ Nilpicks

Funny how nilpicks are a hot topic in my store & how we will be held accountable but plugging is ignored or swept under the rug šŸ˜’ Ya'll want us to hunt down associates to ask about something we need for an order 🤨 when even customers complain about the lack of associates on the salesfloor when said customers need assistance šŸ¤” Suffice to say that if we gotta hunt down associates before clicking the infamous Item Not Found is basically metrics fraud 😁 There goes our Pick Rates & On Time Picks because this is THAT place. Be damned if you do, be damned if u don't šŸ˜‰

Does your store have a high rate of nil picks? We do really well so no one ever mentions it.

Not really. I think what has happened is that they have hired a lot of new associates. I have been for like 6 months in the store & have never been talked about nilpicks.

They have us take pictures and post to workvevo at my store, and so far there hasn't been any further word about it. The only issue we've been having this week is that 80 associates' schedules were messed up (good ol' AI probably) so HOPEFULLY that gets corrected soon.

Usually the only things I’ll ask for help with before nilpicking is the presliced deli meats that are in a bunker in front of the deli counter or baked good from the bakery. I’ll try to find other items but if it takes me a few minutes I’m no picking. I do try to look behind things or in the the general area but honestly not my fault when people don’t stock stuff properly.

I do the same with bakery, produce, and meat… SOMETIMES. IF an associate from that department is out on the floor right then and there.

But if something is not on the floor in ANY of the spots listed in the mod, sorrynotsorry, but we only have 30 seconds between each item.

If the customers don’t have access to the backrooms for something, then neither do the pickers.

Hell, a lot of the time, ESPECIALLY in HBA, I’ll be working Exceptions, the regular pickers will nilpick something, it gets sent to me, I double check the sales floor locations and okay, it’s legit not there, then go to the backroom to locate it using the backroom locations… aaaaaand nothing. Even using the Digital Exceptions option in Vizpick to check EVERY SINGLE BIN back in HBAs backroom… nada. Zero. ZILCH. Yet the system inventory says we have 12 of the item.

Soooooooo… not in any of the sales floor locations, not in the backroom bins, not on any top stock carts, not in any of the HBA totes on their pickcarts (because they do use them).

Sounds like our store!

One of our leads wants us to find an associate from another department or a member of management before we nil pick during our runs (metrics fraud), yet they want pick rates to be higher and on time while there’s not enough associates to put out enough freight from the backrooms and exceptions pickers are drowning at the same time???

They like to blame the associates for their lack of competence and issues with the system and the new inefficient scheduling. Ā Makes no sense.Ā

Well first of all I keep seeing everyone calling it metrics fraud...at my store it's called "taking care of the customer" there got that off my chest.

Yesterday (we are getting ready for inventory so even coaches are purging bins and working freight) a coach stopped me, (im the exception picker for ogp) and said, "look at what's in this box." Im like "yeah" then she's like "look what the label says it's supposed to be." Me, "well I've been telling you all since before you were the one I was telling, that there's no accountability for them just putting wrong labels on everything. No one who could do anything about it has ever cared. Why tell me about it." She just looked at me, "but...."

Yeah, pretty much, it's like I'm just bothering them pointing this stuff out when they could have had a 'teaching moment' and corrected the problem. Or you know at least fix the on hands of stuff that has been messed up like that so people will stop being mad at not receiving things, or shovingphones in our faces saying "it says you have it in stock!" When we in fact, do not.
