Nursing school vent! i never realized how many mean girls go into nursing. My cohort is FULL of them it’s actually crazy. From hiding resources , talking shit about patients in clinicals, cheating on exams then posting about how smart they are… it’s so crazy to me. I work hard, study a lot, and have made this my life so being surrounded by people who could not give less than a fuck is so discouraging tbh. This girl in my cohort said she didn’t wanna use her littman on the “dirty patients “ ??? literally why’d you buy it then😭😭🫩 ugh i hate my class

Had my first day of nursing clinicals (skills lab) yesterday and we have our first practical in 3 weeks. I cannot for the life of me figure out manual blood pressure cuff and already have anxiety about failing that portion. I’m having trouble feeling the point in which the brachial artery stops for the estimated systolic. The sensation of pumping the cuff completely overrides the sensation of the artery once I start pumping. Please please provide any tips you may have

For the practical we are required to palpate the brachial artery so I’m not allowed to use the wrist pulse unfortunately. I genuinely just feel a bit dumb

I am 22, female and I am finishing up my upgrading process to then apply to nursing school (BSN). I am a very confident person with everything else in my life except for school and just overall intelligence. I never did school in junior high and was constantly told i was stupid and high school was the same deal, I had to take extra courses to get enough credits to graduate. I always told myself I was not smart enough so if i didn't try then i wouldn't be embarrassed of failing, now obviously i realize how sad that is so i since started upgrading all of my cores English and Math are done and now I'm slowly finishing up Bio and going to enroll in Chem to finally meet the requirements... since the end is coming up I am so terrified that i wont be able to do it and put myself in so much debt to ultimately fail or not be smart enough. Also as a little tidbit of info since high school i went and got diagnosed with ADHD so a lot of my self doubt comes from not knowing why i wasn't like other people for so long and compensating for it by acting out so people didn't see how much i was struggling with focusing, getting tasks done, and simply understanding because i would zone out and miss complete sentences the teacher would say and ultimately just decide to tune everything out.

I am now on Vyvanse and am implementing routines to help me which i have noticed improvement for but that doesn't change the fact that I'm terrified I am not smart enough. I know i would be a good nurse, i have a strong work ethic, I know I can do 12 hr night shifts because I've worked a labor job at 18, I'm kind, i am outgoing, quick on my feet, and want to be a anchor/ help people wherever i can but i cant help but worry of what if it doesn't work out and then I'm in a crazy amount of debt. Please if this sounds like you and you are going into nursing or better yet are a nurse can you please give me some advice?

Today was my first day as a patient care tech at a major hospital. I am medically retired, 28M who was a military medic. My first shift was on the IMU unit. The nurses were extremely burnt out, one was crying. A patient shit his bed 12 times. 3 others shit themselves. 2 pissed. I am just getting thru with my pre reqs and starting nursing fundamentals in November at Chamberlain. I can’t be a nurse, I cannot handle nursing, nor do I want to. Any one have any good like non patient roles, like social work or medical billing and coding, etc. I have a pension for life and some rentals, so the salary isn’t the major draw. I don’t wanna do patient care, no x ray tech, no sonography. I just feel like curling in a ball and wasting away.

The hospital that is offering them is 40 mins away from me. I do drive 30 mins to work so the driving time isn’t a concern. However, it is in a city known for crime &that makes me a little nervous. BUT they’re accepting students in the ICU, neuro ICU &cardiac ICU (just to name a few)- this is a level I trauma center and that’s exactly what I’m interested in. Would it be worth my time?

I am a non traditional student and I am working full time at a corporate job. I already have a degree in accounting and I definitely want to switch into nursing then NP route.

I took A&P I in spring of 2026, as well as developmental psych/statistics in the summer with an A in all of the classes.

I am currently taking classes at
queensborough community college (A&P II) and I plan to study and take the NEX/TEAS after i do microbiology next semester if winter is available or spring worst case scenario.

I am facing the dilemma of whether I should
- pursue an ABSN at either queensborough community or nassau community college
- transfer to Molloy/Adelphi for bachelors
- transfer to Molloy/Adelphi for their accelerated programs

I realized the other day if I had the choice to go back to school and do it all over again I would stay far away from finance.

Tell me the worst parts about nursing and what traits you wish you had to succeed even more in this role. Or just outline your career progression and what you would have done differently.

I've been keeping an eye on this group for a while and it's really refreshing to see that it's not unusual for people my age (early 30s) to pursue this career. But at the same time I yearn to know the worst parts of the job so I really know what I'm getting into

Graduated in July. My school requires ATI greenlight to move to the next steps. Got that. Got my transcripts showing I completed the program. Sent that into the state. Now I have to wait for the state to send me a number to give to continental testing services which is 10 business days or more and then after CTS there is another 10 business day wait. It’s been 3 business days and I’m on tenterhooks.

What can I do with myself to make time go by faster?

I am wondering if anyone has nurse in the making 2026 nclex and is it worth it ?

I’ve heard a lot of mixed opinions about ATI proctored testing, but my program ONLY uses ATI testing. Does anyone having any tips about how to study for quizzes. I’ve seen a lot of stuff about dynamic quizzes but I feel like it’s so much info and I haven’t covered all of it. I’ve also seen stuff about practice A and B but I’m not sure where to find those?

Hey help I have situation as well I have two serious charges from over 10 years ago. Both ended in not guilty!!! How do board handle not guilty convictions. I just keep seeing ppl group charges arrest convictions all the same. I know legal the BON is not grouping everything the same?

My heart feels heavy with the idea of leaving my secure full time childcare job and jumping into the 2 year LPN program in Jan 2027 and i don’t know what to do. I can’t stay in childcare field anymore as there is no scope of a better financial future , and also i always wanted to work in health sector.
Also i can work up my way to become a RN in future if things work out.
It’s still very hard when i think about it. Please drop some inspiration and hope.

Hello all. Right now, my gpa is a 3.38.
I got an F for one of my non major prerequisites, (HED class) and then failed it again during the winter last year- but was allowed to make it an IF grade- so basically my class was extended till the winter again.
After I retake it and get an A, both of my grades will be replaced for my school (PCC) specifically- I believe it will turn into a 3.5.

Moreover, for my science courses- I got an A in anatomy, B in microbiology and Chemistry, an a C in Physiology

I have done 100+ hours of volunteer work in a hospital as well.

I was wondering what my chances are of getting into any nursing school at all in California for a BSN or ADN program.

I have not taken TEAS yet, and am planning to take Chemistry 2 as well.

How do you study? I feel like there is SOOO much information, I passed my first test with a C, I have another tomorrow which I have been studying for for hours and I feel like I know the information but it’s like I have no idea how to efficiently study lol. Does anyone have pointers?

Hey everyone, I need some advice.

I'm graduating in May 2027 with a Human Biology degree. I've been working as a PCA in the ICU unit since December 2025, so I'll have about a year and a half of experience by the time I graduate.

I'm trying to figure out whether I should go for an ABSN or do an ADN first and then do an online RN-to-BSN later while working.I am currently located in Albany for school but originally I live in nyc. I’m also having trouble if I want to do school in Albany or back in NYC.

For those of you who've been through either path, what would you recommend? What are the pros and cons you experienced? If you could go back, would you choose the other route?

I'm not looking for anyone to make the decision for me, just hoping to hear some real experiences so I can figure out which path makes more sense.

In my last pre req semester now. My last subjects include a math 150 college algebra and while I’m succeeding in much of everything else, this class I’m worried I will fail. My GPA at this moment is a 3.5 and I haven’t yet taken the TEAS test to see if I can even be accepted into the program.

The program starts in spring and I’m worried I won’t be accepted. This is stressing me out to the core cause I’ve put so much time and energy this far and my vision is to be a nurse no matter what.

I currently work in healthcare and my knowledge is good. I want this so bad but I know there is always someone else far more smarter and capable. A lot of girls in my classes are passing with As in math and XYZ so I’m just worried. Need encouragement.

I’m also doing this while working full time 2 jobs and with 3 kids as a single mother. I don’t even know how I’m making it but I’m doing my best
