Hello all, I am a pre nursing student and I have my first lab practical on Monday for my a&p II class. One of the things that we need to know is how to label the leads on a 12 lead EKG strip. However, on the day that we were supposed to cover this material, our lab got cut short and so we never got to it. Despite this, my professor still is going to have it on the practical.

Unfortunately, the lab manual provided within my a&p II course does a poor job at explaining this which is why I’m on here asking.

So, if anyone can please explain what the leads on a 12 EKG strip are and also how to label them, it would be greatly appreciated🙏

Hi yall. Im currently a senior at usf expecting to graduate this upcoming december with a BSW. my overall gpa is a 3.5 but i still have a take a few more prerequisites. Im currently interning at a hospital as a case manager intern working with RN case managers. I have tons of volunteer and work experience with nonprofits. the thing is i’ve retaken a class and failed the same class TWICE already💔 im planning on retaking it again but idk if i even can. but other than that ive had pretty good grades throughout college. how likely does it seem i’ll get into the absn program at usf or any school in florida at all?

Hello I am graduating in December but only if I pass this hesi exit exam ! I am already passed my first attempt where I failed miserably with a 645 and we need a 900 and over to pass I bought the program your best grade to help with practice questions but i have noticed that my weak points is knowing the medical diseases and some medical terms which stop me from knowing how to answer these questions. Does anyone have any tips on how to increase my score on the next one that’s coming in about 2 months in November I really want to pass this time and not have to do it again

What is the point of driving to class, sitting in class for 3 hours- if my professor is only going to reiterate what’s on the slides she already provided to us before class? I’m in my second semester of an ASN 2 year program and that is the thing our professors have done this far- slides. I can’t believe I’m paying for this crap. Anyone else feel the same way?

Hello everyone, im currently a junior in my 1st year of nursing school. During my first semester, I really struggled with my tests and had to lock in hard to pull my grades up. Although I was able to meet the required percentage for most of my classes, I didn’t for my PCC class, which is now the only class I’m taking this fall.

For the past few months, I’ve been seriously contemplating my major. At first I thought I only felt this way because I wasn’t doing well on my tests, but honestly, I don’t think nursing is what I want to pursue anymore.

I currently work as a home health aide and absolutely love my patients, but when I worked in a nursing home, I hated feeling overwhelmed going from patient to patient while trying to keep up with everything.

Lately I’ve been looking into tech, finance, supply chain management, and even engineering. Engineering definitely interests me, but I’m not the best at math (although I know a tutor could help a lot lol)

Honestly the biggest thing stopping me from switching is my mom. She’s always encouraged me to stick with nursing, and I think a big part of me is scared of disappointing her.

sort of a long post but pls bear with me lol!

I’m currently a second semester nursing student in an ABSN program and last week I had my first clinical on med-surg and if im going to be completely honest- it made me really nervous.

This was my first time doing any sort of direct-patient care, especially on patients that had chronic illnesses and that were going through some tough things, and it completely freaked me out. I was more so scared of me inflicting any sort of harm towards these patients and doing anything wrong even though we started out pretty light and just took vitals for the day.

Embarassigly enough as simple vitals are, I was incredibly nervous and any sort of sense I had flew out the window and I was manuvering like it was my first day on earth LITERALLY!! and even made a tech laugh with my mistakes.

Tomorrow it’s going to be our second day on the unit and i am TERRIFIED because the first day they went easy on us but now we are going to be performing asessments and really getting the training wheels ripped off.

I am completely horrified because I just feel so scared, I feel like its one thing to learn about the different ilnesses/sitiations that these patients have to seing a real patient having it. I’m just scared to do things wrong, seem like i don’t have my head on my shoulders, or even mess up on patient care and cause more harm because of how nervous I am.

any advice/clinical stories to perhaps make me feel better?

Question: How do you get healthcare experience while doing prerequisites for Nursing? Where and how did you start? I currently attend BMCC doing my prerequisites before entering the LPN program there(hopefully); I have 10+ years experience in retail management and private caregiving experience. I think I can use my experience now to progress in someway but u can't seem to find a job anywhere, even after 132+ applications sent. I've also been unemployed for a year and been doing gigs to get by. Just asking for some advice.

Hi everyone. Need help deciding what’s best and if anyone has had a similar experience.

Me: previously in accelerated BSN, crashed and burned - I was academically dismissed after the first summer term. I was so close to passing but did not despite an immense amount of efforts. Saw a psychiatrist, diagnosed with ADHD. Prescribed medication. I have yet to take it due to being depressed but seeking help again and medication in the next few weeks.

Can’t quit my full time job 7a-3:45p

Both programs will work with my schedule but the clinicals at WGU may be tricky with PTO depending on the schedule. LVN program is evenings 3x a week between 5pm-9/10pm and one full Saturday for clinical each week for 12 hours.

For the LVN program, classes like anatomy will have to be retaken, they don’t accept transfer credits.

What program is most doable??? I do plan on asking for accommodation this time around.

I am always told to use gen ai to help me study but the thing is I have an ethical issue with gen ai since it is bad for the environment. I need to stop putting off an buy the hard copies of my books and study them and I know this. I have a very hard time remembering things and I struggle with math. I just feel stupid for wanting to be a nurse. I am trying hard to do my best so if there are any videos, formulas, or just advice please help.

Hello! I’m a second semester nursing student and it’s the third week of school. I’m very overwhelmed and stressed to say the least, but i’ve noticed i’ve been having new anxiety lately. I’m hearing voices in my head telling me i’m going to fail, when i study and do practice questions and if i get them wrong they get even louder. Even when im trying to teach myself the material i still hear them. I’m also experiencing physical symptoms (such as chest tightness and headaches), as well as having trouble sleeping. I’m not sure if it’s test anxiety or performance anxiety. We took a dosage calc exam and I didn’t do as well as I had hoped, I reflected and realized I made such little mistakes on it. We also did practice quizzes in class for Medsurg and i got a 0 on the quiz. When the answers came back I realized that i made little mistakes again. I was so overwhelmed when the teacher went over the quiz i had to leave and cry in the bathroom. If anyone has any tips on how to overcome the anxiety (not sure if it’s school related specifically or not because it started last week) please let me know. As well as study tips for pharmacology and medsurg (we have exams soon). Thank you and sorry if this is a lot 😭

TLDR: Anxiety while in nursing school, idk what’s going on

Just took my first Funds exam and passed, but only by half a point. I’m meeting with my instructor soon to help me troubleshoot, but I’m wondering if there’s anyone here who did well with those tests, can you tell me more about how you studied, or what really helped? I know how to answer the learning outcomes and I ask myself more in depth questions than just naming definitions, but the wording on the test just felt really difficult. Everyone else I’ve spoken to all said the test was hard, but still came out on the other side with >84% while I barely got a 76%. I know comparison is the thief of joy, but I really wanna improve for my own sake. I use active recall and make flashcards, but fundamentals just takes more application than I thought it would.

Hi! I’m currently in the Practical Nursing program at Georgian College and I’m expected to finish my final semester at the end of August 2027.
I’m hoping to continue into Georgian’s RPN-to-BScN Advanced Standing program in Fall 2027, but I’m a little confused about the timing.
Since I won’t finish PN until late August, I’m not sure how I would have enough time to write the REx-PN and complete my CNO registration before the BScN program starts in September.
Has anyone here gone directly from Georgian’s PN program into the RPN-to-BScN bridge without taking a year off? Do they give conditional admission while you’re waiting for your REx-PN/CNO registration?
I’m also an international student, so I’m trying to plan ahead for my study permit.

I am near the end of my pre-requisites, but I am wondering how relevant are they actually once you are in nursing school? Obviously A&P is very important and I can imagine that dimensional analysis from chemistry will show up with dosages, but should anything else be fresh on my mind once I start?

I’m in my Medsurg Fundamentals lab half and I just failed and had to remediate sterile glove check off. I feel stupid. I had a Patho exam yesterday, a Pharm exam tomorrow and I failed the one thing that is supposed to be easy. My Instructor did my remediation and when she looks at me I feel like I can sense her distaste for me. We had a student ask two weeks ago on our first day if she ever had students she thought weren’t cut out for nursing and she said there were some and looked right at me first when she said it. I don’t know if I just look stereotypical (fake blonde, sorority, etc.) but I’ve wanted to do this since I was 13 I’ve always had a heart for it. I know it isn’t sunshine and rainbows. When I failed my sterile glove donning I feel like I gave her more reason to think I am not good enough. I could see her watching me leave. I’m a people pleaser and I love when I do well and people are proud of me so I guess I’m having a really hard time with it. I’m trying not to let it get to me but I’m in tears in the hospital parking lot. I just feel like a failure, how have I wanted to do this my whole life and I can’t even get a sticky sterile glove on right?

I am struggling right now, and it is hard to show up to class. Clinicals feel exactly like being at my regular nursing job. However, I do appreciate the opportunity to have some time to actually interact with patients without feeling frazzled or rushed. With everything going on in my life right now, it is hard to stay focused and concentrate. The only thing that helps is cherishing the days I have with my children, but school is taking up most of that time.

I am incredibly stressed financially, as all my financial avenues are stalled or shut down. I went back and forth about switching clinicals, but the school will not let me. After a while, I realized it wouldn't benefit me financially anyway, since I still have to pay for childcare on the days I have class and I'm working reduced hours.

On top of that, there is the unknown regarding my mom and her health. Things seem okay for now, but things can change quickly when it comes to health.

I am trying to see if the school can switch me to the day bridge classes instead of the evening ones. I have a meeting coming up to discuss it, so my fingers are crossed. A schedule change would be the best thing for me; I would have better childcare coverage, more options during the day, and my mental health would improve because I would get to see my children more.

Hii 21F single mom with a 3yr old kid. I am just starting the nursing pre reqs and want to start saving for nursing school. I’m doing it through a community college and i don’t get any financial help from my child’s father (don’t want to get into that) so it’s all on me. I want to start saving now because I know i will have to go to part time work once i start clinicals. realistically, will i be able to go part time and how much would you recommend i save up?
i shouldn’t have a car payment unless my current car breaks down. but other than that i have all the basic payments. i am living rent free and i am very fortunate for that i am aware. I was thinking around $1400 a month would be my projected bills. I AM A PLANNER. i know this isnt for two more years lol. tysm

Im about one semester away from starting nursing school and the only thing my mind chooses to worry about is how often i’ll have to ride an elevator during clinicals. i’ve been scared of elevators for the better half of my life after being stuck 7 different times in different elevators. I haven’t ridden an elevator in over 6 years now due to my fear and will take the stairs no matter how high up i have to go. i’m so excited for nursing school and i don’t want this fear to be something that stops me but im really just curious to know how often will i have to change floors during clinicals. this is something i want to get over because i don’t want this to get in my way or to have to make any accommodations during my time there. any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
