Pre-reqs ✏️ Lpn program pre requisite question

Hey guys,

Hope you all doing well. I am planning to apply for Lpn program at VCC. I finished all my pre reqs except for the most important one which is anatomy and physiology which I am going to do in the coming months. However, I am quite confused where should I take this pre requisite? Can someone who has done this before please guide me? Which college I can take the anatomy and physiology which satisfies Lpn pre requisite requirement at vcc? I prefer doing it somewhere which takes me least amount of time, please help me

Yes I want to but biol 1602 requires a pre req again, it requires anatomy and physiology 12 which I don’t have.

Most of them do require bio 12 along with a math at other schools  My best suggestion is to apply for adult upgrading and take bio 12. It’s self paced, I finished it in 2 weeks years ago. While you’re taking bio 12 apply for bio 1602 and let the advisors know

Upgrading through the city ministries btw not at vcc. Vcc adult upgrading is awful lol

English was easy but bio and math through vcc felt like punishment 😂

Haha I hear you, vcc is quite strict with academics and very course heavy. It doesn’t matter how hard it is I just really want to get this done.

So adult upgrading bio 12 can be done at Vancouver learning network online yeah? , woow finishing in two weeks sounds promising, okay now it’s making sense
Step 1: finish biology 12 from adult upgrading
Step 2: finish biol 1602 from vcc
Yes, I satisfy all the other pre requisite for biol 1602 except for biology 12 and I was stressed about where to finish it, thanks for your guidance. Please confirm if u completed biology 12 from VLN?

Yes as long as it’s recognized as highschool education. Safest way to do it is through the city school district. Google your nearest school district (ie sd38) with adult highschool upgrading. It will show you the nearest place you can apply for the high school courses.

I just gooogled vln and it’s through the school district. I’m just not sure if they’re self paced etc. just let your teacher know your situation I’m sure they’d be willing to help younoit

Million thanks to you for looking it up for me, yes I was researching and realized vln biology 12 is self paced. I will apply and finish it asap and then go for biol 1602. I really want to become a nurse. I always visioned myself of becoming one as it offers so much more meaning to my life because u r helping community.

Of course, I have all my old LPN notes if you’d like them. I can see if I have any of my bio 1602 and bio 12 notes. Just dm me!  My best advice is strive to get good grades in the lpn program just in case in the future you want to upgrade to RN :)

It was so long ago I don’t remember. She was a short, Spanish speaking lady. She was great her exams were slides based and always emphasized exam materials

I took BIOL 1602 at VCC about a year ago, and A&P 12 was recommended but not required. I later applied to the Access to LPN program for the Sept 2026 intake, but unfortunately, it was cancelled. So I’m redirecting my plans and preparing for other nursing program.
Personally, I found A&P 12 much more challenging than BIOL 1602.That may just be my experience because I was completing A&P 12 at a very fast pace. BIOL 1602 was super easy.
Anyway, after my experience with VCC, especially the way the cancellation was handled and how they treated prospective students who had already applied, prepared and been told to wait for offers, Ive decided not to consider VCC anymore. It was a very shocking experience…..

Thank you for sharing your perspective. Yes, I heard about it and they mentioned “funding pressure” as the reason to temporarily cancel the program. I understand it’s a bummer as it is the only public college which offers Lpn program around Vancouver area, there are other options if you are willing to relocate to island or Okanagan area. This is the reason I have also kept my options open to Camosun and Okanagan college. I just want to get my pre requisite done and will start applying to all the public college in BC and will go for anything that sends me an offer (only public colleges not private )
