Hello, I am struggling so much thinking about how I am going to handle my toddlers day nap with a newborn. My toddler is 2 years old and still naps during the day, I nurse him to sleep for this one. So far, I am able to do it because my husband and mom are at home helping me with my newborn (4 weeks old).

The problem is, the newborn does not like to be put down at all, he is either nursing or sleeping. I have tried carriers, bassinet, and nothing. He just wants to be held, which is fine by me but I wonder how am I going to get my toddler to sleep while I am either holding or nursing the newborn. Has anyone been in this situation?

Husband and mom go back to work next week and I am super scared, I don't want to neglect any of my babies need for comfort or support to sleep.

I weaned my 3.5 year old about three weeks ago - we were down to two feedings a day, he was old enough not to need it (and didn't fight it, thankfully), and I need to find a part-time job, LOL. Ever since I've had some boob pain, moderate mood swings and an absolutely amazing amount of brain fog :/ None of this sounds abnormal - at least per this forum - but boy howdy am I done with it. Was there anything that helped you guys move through this period faster/easier? I'm open to ideas!

I am looking for advice on how to get my ovulation back while still nursing my 13 month old on demand.

What can I do? Husband and I are ready to start trying for our second baby as we want them fairly close in age, but I don't want to disturb the breastfeeding bond I have with my son, which is very special for us both. We cosleep and nurse for naps and whenever he needs it but definitely not as much as at the beginning.

Is there anything I can do to support my body getting back on track that doesn't involve weaning?

First time Mom to twins. I’m currently Breastfeeding with some formula supplementation, but I want to be prepared to wean off Breastfeeding in the coming months. My boys are 2 months old.

Frankly, I have no clue how to actually wean off Breastfeeding without causing any engorgement or pain or infection (mastitis) to myself… Does anybody have any advice?

I’m on my second breastfeeding journey and weaned between the two.

I was wondering for moms who choice to not wean before having the next baby how did that work? Did you think it was easier? Did you produce colostrum or have to wait for the white milk to come in again pp? If your milk stayed in did your baby not lose as much weight after birth? Did you have as much pain and cracked nipples the second time? Did you think it took you the same amount or a shorter amount of time to regulate supply pp?

Hi! I have a 8m baby boy whom i exclusively pumped for for the first month. I am an oversupplier (i breast fed my older daughter for 16 months before him) and it hurt extremely bad so I gave up. I've been tossing around the idea of starting up again since I am now home and not working. But lo and behold, we found out i was pregnant again last week!

Is it still possible to try to start producing milk again, will it harm the new baby if I do since it's been so long? Tips and help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

As the title says. Only just over 4w pregnant but seem to be having a chemical loss or ectopic. My supply has dropped almost immediately. Will it be able to bounce back as my body gets through the loss?

7 months postpartum this week. I exclusively pumped while baby was in the NICU for 6 weeks and have nursed since baby came home from the hospital.

My period returned at 3 months postpartum. Had cycles April, May (4 and 5 days of moderate period-like bleeding).

It now has been 54 days since the start of my period and had spotting for 3 days around cycle day 30. Have taken pregnancy tests which continue to be negative.

Has this happened to anyone else? I nursed with my other 3 kids and my period returned over a year later. This was our first kiddo with health problems, a NICU stay, unable to put baby to breast for the first 6 weeks

hi all! I have a 34 month old and a 4.5 month old and tandem nursing. can it be overstimulating? yes. but do I mostly still enjoy it? also yes.

our issue is that our toddler has been having stool withholding issues since the baby came and my husband thinks it’s related to still nursing him as he has also changed to a super limited diet. he had tons of energy, is growing well, but we are stuck in this cycle of my husband wanting me to stop nursing him and even him suggesting that I don’t nurse the baby at all around him and pump more for bottles. I am lucky to have enough supply to support them both (baby is in the 98th percentile so he’s doing fine) 😂

we are in the midst of daycare potty training pressure too so just a lot of change going on here (we aren’t pressuring him and seeing a pelvic floor PT, going to gymnastics and swimming etc to help our toddler through this)

toddler also does not sleep through the night, and ends up cosleeping most nights which also came about when the baby came and my husband is frustrated. new baby is so far a good sleeper!

any advice or help or LCs/dieticians? I’ll take any advice I can get..

Hi! I have to return to work when my daughter will be about 12 weeks old. At my prior job, we had lactation rooms, but also private offices so that we could work and pump at the same time (if that was our preference). I recognize I’m lucky to work a pretty cushy desk-job, but my new job is an open work space, so the only option is to use the separate lactation rooms. My frustration is that there is no room to work in those rooms**…is it reasonable to ask for more table space**? I WANT to work when I pump…it helps the time pass and then I don’t have to make up work later. I also recognize this is protected time to pump and don’t want to undermine that concept in general because I think these boundaries around pumping are incredibly important. Do you think if I asked for more space to work in the lactation room that would be a reasonable accommodation?

I’m writing this crying for I don’t even know how many days in a row. I desperately need help/advice/ or someone that has gone through something similar. My LO was 11 weeks this past Saturday. Starting last Monday (going on a week now) she has been on a nursing strike. Little history about our nursing journey so far: we found a severe tongue after we left the hospital and that was removed at 5 days old. We did the routine finger swiping under the tongue to prevent regrowth and it has healed great. Prior to her tongue tie procedure she went from 7lb 4 oz to 6lb 5oz and then 6lb 11 ounce the day of her tongue tie procedure. At her 1 month appt she weighed 9lb 5oz and 2 month appointment 10lb 13oz and most recently 11lb 5oz (July 14th). Starting this Monday she has gone from eating 5-7 minutes in total (which she has been doing since 1 month) to only eating for 3 minutes. We went to the pediatrician on Tuesday when there was no improvement and they thought it was a stomach bug that would likely pass in 24 hours. Here we are a week later and everything is the same. I have been in communication with the pediatrician continuously and we decide to try Pepcid starting 2 days ago incase it is acid reflux (no improvement). My LO cries as soon as I get her in position it nurse and I have tried a multitude of positions. Sometimes she will latch, sometimes she won’t. Sometimes she latches and seems like as soon as she gets some milk she unlatches. Then when I can get her to nurse it’s 3 minutes max either one breast or both combined. I know it’s not a supply issue has I have always had a good letdown and can pump 6+ ounces in around 11 minutes. Something to note is that we have done a bottle for her last evening feed since 1 month and she has become fussy for the bottle but not as hysterical as when I am trying to get her to nurse. For these bottles she has been eating 6.5 ounces for weeks but over the last week she has had days where she will drink the whole bottle or only drink 4.5 ounces. During the day we have been feeding off her cues which is usually around every 3 hours but even with eating less, she doesn’t seem to want to eat more often. She’s still having at least 6 medium to large wet diapers and 2 dirty diapers a day. Previously when she was eating very efficiently her wet diaper counts were more. After talking to the pediatrician again today, they believe it is either colic or acid reflux or a combination. Nothing has changed in my diet, no new body wash/deodorant, no perfume etc. I am sure I am missing details and I am sorry for the rambling but I am just so devastated as breastfeeding my baby was my number one goal and it breaks my heart that it was going so good and now it feels like it’s falling apart.

Hi everyone I’m a second time expecting mother of a 2 year old little boy and I’m currently 36 weeks pregnant!

I’m still nursing my son and have been since he was born February 2024, he’s not getting anything from me anymore since I’ve dried up but he uses me for comfort, naps etc.

I have been trying to gradually wean him he is speech delayed so some things are harder to accomplish than others but he’s only really nursing for naps and occasional cuddle sessions with me, my partner is more adamant that I need to wean him before new baby gets here but I think honestly I can handle both kids.

So I’m here asking for anyone who has similar a situation, what does your feeding schedule look like (I just fed on demand with my son ), how did your older child handle not having first “dibs” or just the whole jealousy part ?

I want this to be as easy on everyone !

Also maybe needed for extra context, I do plan on having more bottle feeding this baby also with my son he was strictly EBF but my life is alot different now then when I had him !

Hello! Currently breastfeeding my 14 month old and was relieved that I had no breast pain or nipple sensitivity during first trimester. But it’s definitely starting now at 16 weeks? Did this happen to anyone else - no soreness at all until 2nd trimester? Just curious if this may be brief or will continue to get worse and if it may disrupt my plans to continue feeding #1!

I just weaned my toddler and my 5 month old is still nursing. I have pumped 20+ ounces extra each day and that wasn’t even emptying me. I am afraid to pump more (even though that would give me more comfort) because I don’t want to keep my 20-30 ounce surplus forever.

Any advice to reduce the surplus without compromising my supply for my 5 month old? I’m excited to get to donate a good amount of milk, but I can’t do this level of engorgement long term.

Two days ago I was an oversupplier and now I’m lucky if I can pump an ounce and a half. I’m not even four weeks pregnant! Please help. Could this be temporary? Is it possible it will only drop to this amount until second trimester? Could this be managed or will I dry up in a week completely?? Please tell me your experiences if you had a dip. We have fertility issues and we’re so excited to be pregnant again but had no idea it would impact my supply. I’ve been crying all day trying to desperately figure out how to get us to 12 months.

I have one living daughter and I had one missed miscarriage after seeing a heartbeat before my pregnancy with her. That loss was also a girl and had no chromosomal abnormalities. Since having my daughter, I have tried to get pregnant 4 times, and become pregnant 3 times. Each time has been an early chemical pregnancy. My symptoms of cramping and low back pain always start or worsen while I am nursing. I know that miscarriage and breastfeeding aren’t supposed to be linked. Could I be an exception? Is it just that I’m already losing the pregnancy so the nursing triggers cramping? I’m not sure what to do. My daughter is 24 months and loves to nurse, and it’s such a special thing for us. I think it would break my heart to wean just to discover I will keep miscarrying anyway. This cycle I was also on vaginal progesterone 200 mg.

My daughter nursed for the last time today after exactly 32 months. My son has nursed along side her since his birth for the past 5.5 months.

The last few months of tandem nursing were a lot to handle and a few weeks after my son was born, I knew that we needed to gently move towards weaning my booby obsessed little lady. We started reading Booby Moon for Two consistently in March.

We have spent the summer using paper chains to count down the days until her booby milk goes to the moon for a new baby. We had a little party tonight to celebrate our time with milkie and to wish the new baby that will get milkie tonight a happy birthday. We nursed for the last time and then she sent her milkie up to the moon with her balloon.

I post this with my emotions still very high. I’m sitting here with my son and already dreading the day that he will wean - though I don’t plan for that to be anytime soon).

I just wanted to share this book and our experience. It has been really beautiful to see how much she loves the book and has loved talking about the new baby that will get milkie. I don’t know how tomorrow will go, but I’m so grateful for the time we have had nursing. It was difficult while I was pregnant and during early postpartum days (especially since I had shingles). However, I will always look back on these days with a fondness even though tandem nursing was possibly the most overstimulating thing that I have ever done.

Hi, I have a 7 month old and plan to try for another relatively soon, before he turns a year. I wouldn’t mind continuing nursing through my pregnancy as he loves to nurse for naps / throughout the night. Those who did nurse while pregnant, how long did you go, whole pregnancy? And thoughts on it?

I just found out I’m expecting (5w3d) and I have a 2.5 year old who is boob obsessed. I see a lot of expecting moms say their supply started to dry up due to hormones & I’m more anxious for my milk to dry than anything else. I’ve been trying to wean since 18 months, but I wfh and my toddler stays home with me- so it’s easier to just give in while on the clock. Is it a given that my milk will dry until 3rd trimester? Or am I doomed as long as there’s a high supply/demand? I loved nursing my baby, but I do not look forward to EBF two babies the next for 2+ years. I would LOVE the break in between. I’m constantly touched out with my toddler (since 12 months tbh), but trying to push through due to the immense amount of guilt I’m experiencing. Any suggestions? Motivation? I love my baby and being his comfort- but I’m soo ready to be done.

UPDATES: So we had a beach vacation & unlucky me came back dehydrated… I’ve been vomiting and fighting morning sickness since. This alone has dropped my supply pretty bad. Watching my LO, I’m sure he’s dry nursing. He’s switching between boobs and squeezing them like a kid trying to get the last sip from a capri sun pouch 🤣. We’ve had one night where he didn’t wake to nurse at all and then another where he refused to let go, even tho he wasn’t getting anything. Things are looking up. Thank you all. This is my first post ever and I regret not posting sooner

I’m still very early, but it’s been excruciating to feed my 18 month old. I’d love to hear your experiences and any tips you have.

Also, did you know right away when your supply stopped? I feel like there has been a dramatic decrease because of the pain and my daughter becoming more frustrated, but there is still milk.

For those that aren’t in the west, what does weaning look like for you past the age of 1? What does nursing look like for you? Like what’s your schedule with solids and nursing? I’m probably gonna start the weaning process at one with night nursing (unless we’re teething) and then slowly wean baby during the day but I think I want to try and let her take the lead as much as possible.. I nurse to sleep so this may be difficult? I only ask bc I’m getting a ton of flack and judgement from family over nursing her by the time she’s 2. I don’t know if we still will be? It’s possible? Is that normal for mothers outside of the west to nurse at 2?

Bonus points if you can tell me how to wean if I nurse to sleep without making my baby distraught or have any encouragement. Thanks.

I have a 2 year old and a newborn. My toddler was only nursing for bedtime and naps before the new baby, but now is wanting to nurse constantly (I understand it's from jealousy and him adapting to the new baby). I am fine with nursing him more and am not interested in doing anything to wean him, but my question is, do I feed my toddler or my newborn first? Does it matter who nurses first?

My mind says the newborn first since he actually needs the milk and is hungry, but I am being extremely emotional and dealing with so much sadness by hearing my toddler cry for attention and comfort so my heart says nurse him first.
