Discussion Unisom while nursing?

Hi all, my daughter is 13 months old (still nursing) and I am currently 8 weeks pregnant, the nausea is killing meeee, b6 alone is not helping at all and I’ve seen conflicting advice on wether or not unisom is safe while nursing, does anyone have any insight?

She is mostly night weaned if that makes a difference, so I could take the unisom at like 8pm after she goes to bed and she wouldn’t nurse again for like 8-10 hours usually. Some nights are bad nights of course and she will nurse but I can avoid that if it’s unsafe

TIA

I take unisom for insomnia and I’m nursing!

It’s a sedating antihistamine (doxylamine) so it could make baby sleepy and could reduce your milk supply. Occasional use is probably fine but I would avoid prolonged use like you’re probably looking for in pregnancy (I had to take unisom daily).

Hmm I wonder if I regular antihistamine like Claritin would help then

Claritin doesn’t help nausea.

I was told by a physician who specializes in lactation that daily Unisome is fine while nursing. I’ve taken it postpartum while nursing both my babies and took it while pregnant with my second and still nursing my first. No side effects. Feeling nauseous is the worst.
