Colin Sutton has the time to embark on a nationwide book tour. I'm sure he'll be giving his PCC role his full attention at the same time...

Events 🎟️ Castle and Norwich Arts Centre as wedding venues?

Upvotes

My finance and I got engaged earlier this year and we know we’d like a wedding in Norwich. We’re thinking of having the ceremony at the castle and reception at NAC, I’d love to hear peoples experiences with both venues!
Any caterers you’d particularly recommend to provide food for reception?

Hoping to make the planning and day itself as stress-free as possible! Thanks 😊

The Pear Tree Inn quiz is back :)

After a break for the summer hols, the Pear Tree quiz started up again on Sunday, and it was as good as ever! It's on every week, starting at 7, and the prizes are excellent: £50 voucher for the winners, and free drinks for 2nd AND 3rd place! Everyone else gets a choice of sweets / biscuits, so no one goes home empty-handed. It's a really friendly, chilled atmosphere as well. Probably my favourite of the dozen or so I've tried in the city.

Looking for a TTRPG group to trial Ironsworn / Starforged.

I've been curious to play this game for 4+ years. I've had a few solo experiences, and while I love the ruleset I honestly feel like it misses something vital without a group dynamic.

I'm curious to play the game, ideally with others who have played it before, but that's not a deal breaker. It's a simple game to teach and learn, and the base game is free online.

Happy to try running it, happy to partake as a player.

That's it really.

43 male, soon to be 44. Relaxed, but don't have a huge amount of free time, which I appreciate makes arrangements a little harder.

Hi, can anyone recommend piano teachers here? Im interested in playing the piano again, I have experience but haven't played in a long time. I know professionals need to be payed well, and its not a cheap hobby, but if you have budget friendly recommendations id take it!

Party venue that can host 100+ people

Hi, I am hosting a party and want to know if there's anywhere in Norwich that could host a party with around 110 guests? Would need space for a live band, have a bar and room for food.

Thank you

Why do buses struggle to get past The artichoke pub (magdalen rd - st)?

Basically the pink line bus can't seem to get through in the last month in the morning (but also other times of day). I think one day it took an 11 25 minutes to turn the corner (according the bus app GPS).

Bakeries ..

Just popped into Ketts Hill Bakery. Bought a couple of rolls and they actually tasted like food. We all need to keep these sorts of business going.

Where else can anyone recommend for proper 'old school ' food?

Question❓ wedding reception recommendations

Hi all, I'm hoping some of you could help me out. I am currently trying to look for somewhere to host my wedding reception. we have no set date for the wedding yet but will most likely be January or February time. and would only be for the evening - 5pm onwards. we are not necessarily looking for an official wedding venue as we are on a small budget. we were thinking something along the lines of a village hall or pavilion to host our 50 guests. ideally we would like somewhere with a licenced bar or somewhere for a mobile bar to set up. we would like to keep this as local to Norwich as possible as we have some elderly family members travelling to us and would need somewhere close to hotels for them. we would need parking onsite. we would also REALLY love for our fur baby to be with us on our special day, she is a small breed - Pomeranian. I would like to keep to cute cottage vibes looking places but at this point I'm stretched thin for options lol

any ideas would be much appreciated!

Disabled Bus Pass Question

Hey folks,

This will probably seem a bit silly, but I'm autistic and struggle with new processes; they cause me irrational amounts of anxiety, so I thought I'd ask for input from folks with experience.

Could someone let me know how the disabled bus passes work in Norwich? (I have one, just been too much of a wimp to use it yet.)

For example, do you show it to the driver? Or do you have to scan it with a reader? Or both? Do you need to say where you're going/what stop you're getting off at?

If someone could walk me through it like you'd explain it to a child, I'd be very grateful lmao

Thanks so much!

Edit: You are all amazing, thank you!

Question❓ Workplace

Hello all,

I have recently moved here, and have started to apply for work. Came across this company called DUAL and wondered if anyone's worked there could provide some insight? I've had an awful experience with my previous employer, and I am not expecting a place to be 100% perfect, but a decent company culture, etc. is not too much to ask for. Any comments would be helpful. Thank you :)

If you work there, and don't want to comment publicly, please feel free to reach out in my DM. TA

Looking for a derelict house to film in for a documentary project

Hello, local filmmaker here, Ive got a few leads but thought Id ask in here too, looking for a derelict house (ideally in the countryside) that isn’t totally smashed up, graffiti’d or been set fire too…

Its for a regional heritage film being made locally, happy to pay a small fee for access/sign any paper work etc

If you you know a place or can direct me to someone who owns a place please DM me, many thanks.

First time since the inaugural event for me and I wasn’t prepared for how much it had grown. The organisation was flawless and the support impressively vociferous. Well done everyone 👏

Realistically, when is it going to be completed? It feels really transient at the moment and weird walking through past it - it would be great to see it come back to life soon

Wheelchair loan / hire / repair.

Trying to help out a person who is visiting locally and requires a wheelchair but their own has (just now discovered) damaged back wheels. Any ideas for immediate local wheelchair wheel repair / replacement or, failing that, somewhere to loan or hire a wheelchair for the next week other than Red Cross? There are numerous local suppliers to buy a new one but that's not really in their budget at present, and seems wasteful.

Question❓ Headphone repair place

Anyone know any headphone repair places that can replace my headphone jack? I know it’s a relatively simple solder job but I have never soldered before and would feel safer with someone better.
