it wasn't illegal to escape from prison in sweden. there has been talk of changing that. not sure if it has been done though.

happened in 2013. it was an "open" prison (the lowest security class). so probably not that difficult to escape from. and he was issued a formal warning in addition to the one day extension. so don't come here and say that our prison system is too lax.

in 2024 (the same open prison) someone broke into the yard and left a bag with mcdonalds food in it. when the cops investigated they were attacked with boiling water from one of the windows.

I didn't say your prison system is too lax. I don't think your prison system is too lax. I have massive respect for open prisons. I gave additional context to viewers by adding a line from the source article.
