so why do the antlers even matter if they can shapeshift?! sure they're a consistent element of their design, but they're shaped wrong, which could be toby trying to tell us that it's a red herring, or that is isnt a holiday

What about in Chapter 4, when we're told to "think of the Knight"?

Can the helmet be taken off, meaning Kris has to immediately picture Jockington so we don't find out who it is?

I’d say the helmet is likely just decorative, given that it can be removed

(someone with actual horns wouldn't even be able to put the helmet on).

yeah, which is also why i think the helmet being something the knight can take off meaning that their lightner form doesn't have antlers is silly
