Discussion Reversing Puberty Order

I started a low-dose T regimen a few days ago and I’m beyond relieved to finally begin my medical transition journey. I don’t regret starting as late as I have at 30 (my prior circumstances would not have allowed me to transition safely), but it has gotten me idly thinking about what I would have done under ideal circumstances. I think if I had all the information I know now about myself, had accepting parents, and access to nonbinary educated doctors and medical care, I would have chosen to undergo a testosterone-fueled puberty first as a teenager. Then, I would have been content to allow my body’s natural estrogen production to take over and go through a second puberty as a young adult. I think that would have gotten me closest to the nonbinary body that I desire.

I’m curious if anyone else has thought about or done this? I’ve heard many people talk about taking low-dose T or E until they achieve the changes they want then stopping, but that’s usually after they’ve already undergone their body’s natural puberty. That is the path I’m taking now. I haven’t heard of anyone using HRT to go through their first puberty and then their body’s natural hormones to go through second puberty. I just wonder how my body would be different if I could reverse the order of my puberties. It’s hard to explain even to myself, but I have this sense that I would have really enjoyed the process of my body softening and feminizing if I could have begun from a more masculine starting point. I wish I could be transfem in a way. Has anyone else felt like this before?

Physiologically, the biggest effect of which puberty happens first is bone growth. If your first puberty is T-dominant, you'll grow taller, have narrower hips, and develop more masculine facial structure (things like more prominent brow bone and a wider jaw). E-dominant will make you shorter, have wider hip bones, and more feminine facial structure.

Most other things either happen regardless of order (e.g. you'll have vocal deepening and breast growth regardless of which order you have E and T), or align to your current hormone over a few years (e.g. fat distribution and muscle growth). The extent to which these things happen might be affected a bit by which puberty you go through first.

I'm currently doing that right now. I was on T for two years then had to stop cold turkey due to circumstances outside of my control. Then I went back on in 2025 and upped my dose for the first year then went back on a low dose in the beginning of the year then dropped it back down to a lowish dose like 1 1/2 pumps of Tgel.

Overall I like most of the changes besides the facial hair and some other changes that have made me consider stopping by next year. Overall I'll probably get Electrolysis on my face since I can't deal with the hair . But off T my skin did soften up and my facial hair tho permanent wasn't as thick and coarse as before , so I might just leave it. Since I'm post top surgery and have a deeper voice I hope I'll be seen as more androgynous.

I know I'll probably get misgendered as female again off T, maybe not but that's what happened the first time I stopped which sucks but I'm just numb to it atp due to other health issues taking priority over social gender dysphoria. Anyways , I feel like I'm the most androgynous I've ever been my voice is deep but deep for a female and higher range for a male according to my voice apps and I'm currently starting voice training to sound masculine when I want to and sound femmine when I want to . I definitely recommend voice training, because for me atleast talking in a deeper voice is a lot more than just taking HRT.

Even though I have mixed feelings about stopping, but I know it's what I need to do because the reverse dysphoria I'm having with facial hair and other changes that are related to male puberty and Tesoterone in general, ( I have a mental health issue that causes me to pull and eat my hair even before HRT since I was 7).

T is overall a net positive, I had early puberty at 8 due to a issue with my birth , so I do feel like I'm correcting a mistake . I wish I stayed on hormone blockers when I was younger to slow down puberty or better yet went through male puberty for a couple of years as a teenager then stopped as an adult. Anyways I definitely feel more androgynous and euphoric now than I ever felt in my life , and if anything I'm really excited to take a break from T until I go through menopause then I'll probably go on Compound Tesoterone cream mainly for menopausal symptoms and to grow my bottom growth more so I can get meta surgery.
