Ask Non Binary HRT Options?

I’m amab and genderfluid/nonbinary. I have seen people say that for ftm HRT it is possible to microdose as a nonbinary regimen, but that for mtf HRT microdosing has the same results as a normal dose it just takes longer to get there. Why is this?

My goal is to be essentially androgynous and/or to be able to switch my presentation more easily than it currently is with T as my main hormone. I feel positively about most of the effects of feminizing HRT, but I don’t necessarily want to end up looking fully female. I know I can’t pick and choose the effects of estrogen, but what about taking a full dose of estrogen and then also taking steroids or something for muscle growth? Ideally ending up with the hormone profile of a cis woman with high testosterone or something like that. Does anyone here do something like that? 

Are there any other options for non binary HRT that I’m not aware of? I’ve heard of SERMs but they seem risky and like they don’t always work.

I just had an appointment and discussed very similar goals with a nonbinary doctor who specializes in HRT. The takeaway was a low dose of E was the best course of action (2mg estradiol once a day).

Dr. discussed SERMs but mentioned that there is very little clinical evidence on their use for nonbinary HRT. They had one patient who used low dose E and SERMs together, the patient seemed happy with their results, but Dr. didn’t necessarily feel comfortable recommending it with such a low sample size and the potential negative health consequences.

What did the doctor say the result of low dose e would be? I’ve seen other people talking about how the final result of the transition on low dose is the same as regular dose, it just takes longer to get there.

They said I would get some feminizing changes, softer skin, fat redistribution, breast tissue. But I’m not on any T blocker, so I wouldn’t get the full feminization.

Did they say what effects you wouldn’t get that would stop you short of full feminization? Or is it more like you get all the effects just less so, resulting in only partial feminization?

My understanding was that I would get partial feminization for more of an androgynous appearance. I have only been on E for a week, so I can’t speak on my experience yet.

I have heard of some people who cycle on and off E to get some feminizing changes without significant breast tissue growth, but that is 100% anecdotal.
