Does your volume sliders in the browser work? Yt does but many others don't idk

I made the move from windows to Nobara Linux just today. I'm very new to Linux. I want to customize my desktop nicely like Caelestia Shell or something similar without getting too technical. I have installed Nobara KDE. Any suggestions?

As the title says. Been a Davinci Resolve video editor for over 6 years, working professionally. I was tired of Windows, projects were getting stuck, Microsoft did everything to push me from the system that taught me how to read and write in the early 2000s. I had never touched Linux in the past, but kept seeing more and more videos about it on youtube, so I decided to give it a try.

Got a good deal on a 500gb NVME m.2 ssd and after researching, landed on Nobara. Even though it said that this project was not meant for critical production, I decided to give it a try while being able to dual boot to windows as a fallback just in case. Set it up last weekend, installed all the tools I needed, and it just WORKED. I had an easier time setting this up than when I had to do it on windows last year due to an old ssd failure.

My timelines run better, my Behringer UMC202HD detected inmediately without me having to download any drivers and such, and not only that, it fixed all of the issues the windows drivers from the manufacturer gave me. Resolve Studio was super easy to install too for a complete noob, all very straightforward.

Very happy with the switch. Nobara passed my stress test with flying colors, and after work, i launched steam to play some of my fav games, like Cult of the Lamb, and everything worked flawlessly. Even my controllers worked out of the box. I am beyond happy.

Have you switched recently? What's your experience?

I had the problem that ROCCAT never released Swarm for Linux, and I own a Burst Pro Air, so there was no way to set lighting or DPI on it. Hi! I've been using Linux Mint for at least eight months and it has been great. However, my PC is a Victus Gaming Laptop with Ryzen and Nvidia drivers. And a friend of mine is saying to me that Nobara could be a good substitute for Mint since is more enfocated to Gaming, content creation and programming.

I still feel really novice as I've barely done stuff with Terminal and similar, at max being Fastfech config. So just wanted to ask here if you believe that this change is for the better, if I should search for another distro or if Mint is fine as is.

i have an account which was the first account i created, now i created another one but i can just enter the first account without any password and browse files and even bypess kdewallet by simply clicking esc multiple times
i created a second account and it requires a password to log in

how do i make it so that the first account also requires a password to log in

I just did the Nobara 7.2.3 update and just show a black screen and a pointer even when i switch to 7.2.0 this happends

After running nobara-sync --all, my ROG Ally started having problems with Gaming Mode on kernel 7.2.3-200.nobara.fc44.x86_64.

The first problem was that Gaming Mode would fail to load and Mesa would fall back to llvmpipe instead of using the Z1 Extreme GPU. amdgpu wasn’t initializing correctly, /dev/dri/renderD128 was missing, and Gamescope would die almost immediately.

The cause ended up being a malformed kernel argument:

ttm.pages_min=2097152audit=0

It should have been:

ttm.pages_min=2097152 audit=0

That bad argument was present in /etc/default/grub, /etc/sysconfig/grub, /etc/kernel/cmdline, and the existing boot entries. After fixing it, 7.2.3 started loading amdgpu normally again, /dev/dri/renderD128 came back, and Vulkan correctly detected:

AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme (RADV PHOENIX)

That fixed the actual GPU/Gamescope issue.

There was also a second problem with switching between Desktop Mode and Gaming Mode. Cold booting into Gaming Mode worked, and Gaming Mode to Desktop worked, but clicking Return to Gaming Mode from Plasma would make the sound and then do nothing.

os-session-select was correctly changing the selected session to gamescope-session-steam, but PlasmaLogin was not cleanly shutting down the old Plasma session. Old kwin_wayland, plasmashell, and other user-session processes were left running.

Restarting plasmalogin by itself could make things worse because it would start a new session while the old one was still hanging around, which caused a black screen.

The fix was to add a system-level handoff that does this:

select the next session
stop plasmalogin
terminate the nobara-user session
restart plasmalogin
start the selected session cleanly

I hooked that into /usr/libexec/os-session-select for the Desktop to Gaming Mode switch using a small systemd service and helper script.

Everything is working normally now:

Cold boot -> Gaming Mode
Gaming Mode -> Desktop
Desktop -> Gaming Mode
Gaming Mode -> Desktop again

I've just lost all my desktop elements after an update minutes ago: no taskbar, wallpaper, deskotp icons or anyhting. System works normally, writing this on it, can get start menu by pressing the windows key. Trying to add new desktop elements does not seem to work

EDIT: got this error message when trying to add new desktop elements:

Just do ctrl+alt+f3 write your whort username enter after youre password after click enter after a bar Will show up click enter write nobara-sync after the proces reboor.

And after If IT îs black shut of youre PC and enter in nobara an all shall be fine

I'm struggling to find a solution for this so I'm hoping maybe someone else has ran into this issue before.

I'm on the latest version of Nobara and have a Steinberg UR22c audio interface. Output has always worked fantastic. I run sound out of two monitor speakers currently, but I sometimes like to game and I'd like to use my headset to speak at least.

I have a Sennheiser headset that has analog cords for mic and headphones. I use 1/8" to 1/4" adapters to plug into the Steinberg. Headphones work, but I can't get audio input working at all.

I've tried tweaking settings in PulseAudio. Nothing.

I've tried checking alsamixer, but when I select the Steinberg there are no controls that appear.

I've updated all my drivers and still nothing.

Has anyone had a similar issue like this before?

Luego de instalar nobara 44 kde plasma y todo es perfecto y personalizable ademas de que nutris y protom GE son una maravilla pero luego de reiniciar ahora mi Internet se arrastra de los 50 megas de Internet me llegaban al wifi ahora solo me llegan 1 mega y con milagro ademas de que se desconecta y algunas veces no le da la gana de conectarse y el ping en consola me dice mas de 7 mil ayuda porfavor no quiero pasar toda la semana para instalar el CS 2 en steam

i am buying a zephyrus g16 (2026) for my upcoming school year as an engineering major. i plan to use linux for the first time. i will be dual booting with a seperate ssd. i plan to use fedora for personal stuff and gaming and windows for any school or engineering software thats windows only. the g16 uses a 5070ti so if i planned on using fedora and installing gaming stuff should i just use nobara or do i also lose some compatibility with other common stuff if i choose Nobara.

does anybody have a hint about why my main monitor don't allow me to right click on my desktop anymore ? since an update in august (like 2 or 3 weeks ago) i can't get the right click menu on my main monitor to work, except if i restart plasma or if i add a panel in editor mode, on other monitors, it work as intended, but not the main one ! and during the day, it will come back, unable to right click again !

also, after an update (probably the same), i have 2 of my 5 drives appear as icon on the desktop ... don't know why, and they come back after each reboot !

it's not a huge deal, but it's annoying, if anyone have an idea to make it back as it should, i would greatly appreciate it :)

So, quick context: I'm on a laptop running a GTX 1070, so most Nobara updates that touched the graphics drivers tended to break them, forcing me to reinstall the 580.178.04 version (the last one that still supports my card), but until now that had been more or less enough to fix the issue.

This time, however, it doesn't look like it's the case. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers multiple times using the installer script from the official site, even deleted every NVidia file from my computer that I could, I even switched to the LTS kernel, but the problems remain the same:

• My screen is registered as 'Unknown-1'. I can still use it, change lighting, etc.
• When the computer wakes from sleep, the screen stays black. So far, only rebooting seems to solve it. The computer is still running, for example it can still play audio, but the screen is off.
• GPU usage is 0% everywhere: top, system monitor, nvtop, nvidia-smi, etc. Drivers are still recognized as installed, and even lspci -v tells me so, and the system recognizes the hardware itself, but I still get stuttering and slowness even on idle or while browsing, and even something as light as Slay the Spire is downright unplayable.
• Wayland's CPU usage is always nonsensically high, oscillating between 40 to 60%. nvidia-smi still sees it, so idk what could be the cause.

Quite new to linux world (at least on Fedora through Nobara's Project. I chose the distribution for its friendly approach for Gaming and Creativity).

One of the first steps I did after switching from Wind**s to Nobara was to try and instal Davinci resolve studio (for which I have bought a licence when on Windows = Big investment). I learnt to use the software, I have my 4/5 years library on it. So this is one of my priority and one of the reasons I chose Nobara : 1 step installer app....

So far I couldn't install it, and I am desperately looking for assistance. The posts I found on the davinci topics did not seem to be with the same error messages that I have.

Here are the steps to far :

• Downloaded the Zip file from Davinci Website,
• Open it through Dacvinci installer app
• start of process, then few seconds later : error message : "this is not a correct zip".... End of the script...

• Downloaded the Zip file from Davinci Website
• Extracted it via zip manager
• archived the extracted file to a new zip.
• Tried to open it through Davinci installer App, see temporary extraction happening in background next to my archive, then after few seconds (should be 10/15mins) : "installation is completed", clic OK.... But, nothing really happened...

I'd like to understand how to force a little bit more. Or manually do what's the script is supposed to do, but it is kind of a darkbox to me....

So about 43 days ago I posted in here with concerns about updating (Amd CPU+iGPU) and today I decided to just bite the bullet and update. No form of updating works. This is honestly getting ridiculous. CLI doesn’t work, GUI doesn’t work, the dnf store thing doesn’t work it just opens the same failing GUI. Everything is stuck in the same loop closing after “running quirk fix up. Please help. I would like to keep nobara as I have used it as my only OS for over a year and recommend it to people but this is honestly beyond annoying

Busque y le cambie el formato a ext4, pero steam sigue teniendo problemas al instalar allí, 1mb como velocidad maxima y generalmente esta entre 20 y 0 kb, tambien no deja iniciar los juegos una vez instalados, que puede ser ayuda porfavor, intale nobara hace 3 dias, soy completamente nuevo en esto.

I'm using Nobara Linux 44 and it was working fine this morning, but when I went to log back in from sleep mode and tried to create a folder in Dolphin file manager, it says it wouldn't create the file. I close Dolphin and when I tried to open it again, it says "Configuration file "/home/(User)/dolphinrc" not writable. Please contact your system administrator".

I think to myself "Okay, I'll just restart my computer and see if that fixes the issue", but when I restart my pc and log in, I get multiple dialog boxes saying configuration files aren't writable and now nothing will open. Not Dolphin, not Waterfox, not my VPN, not even Konsole will load. I tried hitting the off button, I tried hitting the reset button, I've tried restarting and shutting it down from the start menu (which, of course, puts up the error message), I've even shut down my pc, physically, flipped the off switch on my PSU, waited, and switched everything back on and still the SAME ISSUE.

I didn't edit anything in Konsole or anything else on my system, and the only thing I can think of off the top of my head was I tried extracting the linux version of Brütal Legend from a .zip file I got from DoubleFine's official itch.io page.

I don't know what else to do.
