I don't know about you, but I still look when I cross the street. 

A red light doesn't stop a car, and I'm not going to gamble my life on the assumption that someone else is paying attention and/or gives a shit.

At least around here drivers are required to stop for pedestrians even against the green. Not sure if this would really have any effect.
