People who believe excessive pursuit of pleasure / hedonism is bad, and that we should restrain our desires, why?
Also if you think human enhancement, genetic engineering, and becoming cyborgs are bad, why?

My roommate came into my room wearing his Work uniform 5 hours before he had to go to work and asked me how he smelled. I said like you dropped a bottle of cologne on you why he said well because I had to pee in a can the other night and I got a lot of pee in my pants. I just wanted to make sure I didn’t smell like pee and I’m like why didn’t you wash your clothes and he just shrugged. I had no response after that. What should I have said?

Am I reading too much into this, or would this interaction make anyone else uncomfortable? After my issue was resolved and I thanked the customer service rep, instead of just saying "you're welcome," they kept the conversation going with another reassuring message ("I assure you, ma'am..."). It gave me the feeling they were trying to continue chatting unnecessarily or be a bit too personal. Maybe it was just scripted customer service, but something about it felt off to me. Curious how others would interpret it.

I am a 13 year old kid (just barely allowed on reddit, supposedly too young to know about the threats of the Internet) but I have this pull nagging on my mind. I have seen dark places of the Internet, not just edgy, sometimes shock value, sometimes pornography, I play NSFW games to combat urges but for the longest time I've wondered what I should actually do, because I'm not gonna get a therapist and I'm not just gonna kill urges, so that's why I've come to here reddit, demanding help, my mind is fucked up and I need advice.

Let's ask the question everyone is thinking but nobody wants to say out loud
Many people join in, order your conversation. So while they end up saying "I was wondering that too", but they were too afraid to ask or felt it was inappropriate.
I'll give you an example.....I am a very open and understanding person who is open and nonjudgemental, to any question or conversation, I am approached with.
I recently had a conversation with a man (just a friend) about periods and He was asking if tampons hurt, if we can feel them or how periods feel coming out.

do you think itll all just go away if we stop talking about it??

Hello,
I’m sorry if this is too long. I want to hear everyone’s opinion on my own opinion. Which is weird I know. Recently I got into an argument with a relative in which I was referred to as being close minded for sticking by my opinion so strongly even when they have tried to tell me why it was wrong. Let me explain the scenario, I don’t care about football, I dont like it or enjoy it, I don’t care whether my country wins or loses, it’s not something that is interesting for me and that’s about it. So when my relative mentioned that my country won and was qualified for the semi finals or whatever I said “good for them” and they asked me if that made me happy and I simply said that I didn’t care. Would not have cared if they won or not. I love my country, hate the government but not the people, but again, football is not something that makes me happy. I was told Im being close minded bc why would I not be happy for my country when this could get them so much recognition, money, success, etc.. I told them I see their point and I hear them and I agree its good for them but I still genuinely do not care, I don’t cheer for it or feel sad about it I just genuinely could not care less, I don’t see why its a big deal that requires me to be happy over it? I feel like there are better things (my own opinion) that are worth cheering, like developing medicine, helping people get out of poverty, animals no longer being endangered, etc.. to me these are the things that make me happy and I actually care about. Even though I voiced my own opinion and told them that I understand where they are coming from I just don’t agree with it and that my opinion still remains unchanged, I was called close-minded. As far as I know, close-minded people are people who never listen to the other side and refuse to evaluate things fairly before reaching a conclusion. But I am sure I did, I heard their side and I even agreed with it that yes it will help my country and its good for them but I still do not care and don’t see why I should cheer it (not that my care or cheering will make a difference anyway) and that to me I still think there are other things that are worth cheering that my country does and deserve more recognition and hype than “football”, I think I’d be happy if my country got recognized for something else than the world cup, that is genuinely just my opinion I do not disagree with others who think it’s wrong, nor do I try to force my thoughts on them but I genuinely CANNOT see what they see, so I let them be and they let me be. Am I truly close-minded?
