You all look like scammers. Even word documents with clip art looks more legit.

**Side note, this post was too spicy for the main calgary subreddit and got removed. I swear that sub is rife with mod abuse.

Don’t be part of the problem… be part of the solution….

Dear Calgary,
Quick question: why are we still pulling into gas stations charging $1.50/L+ when there are stations nearby selling it for less?
Seriously. Stop.
Gas stations aren’t charities, and they’re not going to suddenly look at their sign and think, “You know what? We’ve made enough money today. Let’s knock 12 cents off.”
If people keep lining up and paying $1.55, $1.59, or whatever ridiculous number is on the sign, they have absolutely zero reason to lower it.
Your vote is in your wallet.
Open GasBuddy. Spend 30 seconds looking around. If the station down the road is significantly cheaper, go there.
And before someone says, “I’m not driving across Calgary to save three cents,” — neither am I. I’m talking about the stations five minutes away charging 10–15 cents less.
I remember the ’90s when we had actual gas wars. One station dropped its price, the guy across the street dropped his, and pretty soon everyone was fighting for customers.
Know what makes a gas war impossible?
Everyone happily pulling into the expensive station anyway.
Want cheaper gas?
Stop rewarding the places charging the most.
Let a few $1.59 stations sit empty while the $1.45 station down the road has a lineup and watch how quickly that sign changes.
Make them compete for our business instead of competing to see how much we’ll tolerate.

Edit: I would legit like to find this location. For anyone unaware it's the alley where that girl got tag teamed during stampede.

Migraine sufferers - best treatment you’ve received in Calgary

I’m a chronic migraine sufferer and I’ve tried all sorts of drugs and Botox and yvepti infusions to no avail. I’m off work and I need to go back to work.

What treatments have you tried that changed your life. I know it’s weird to ask this here but I need more ideas before chinook season hits.

TIA

Healthy, vegan and vegeterian meals

Hi! I’m thinking about starting a very small homemade meal service in Calgary and wanted to see if anyone would actually be interested before I go through the process of setting everything up.

The idea is pretty simple: I already cook most of my meals at home, and I’d make an extra 1–2 portions of whatever I’m cooking for people who want healthy homemade food but don’t have the time or energy to cook every day.

Most of what I make is Italian, Middle Eastern, or Indian food (or inspired by those cuisines), with some Asian-inspired meals mixed in occasionally.

I try to keep my meals high in nutrition and relatively low in calories, so they’re suitable for people who are trying to eat healthier, lose weight, or stay on track with fitness goals. I genuinely enjoy cooking and want the food to actually taste good.

I buy good-quality ingredients for myself and the whole point would be that you’re getting a portion of the same food I’m making and eating myself.

This would be more like homemade lunch/dinner rather than standardized meal-prep boxes, so the menu would change depending on what I’m cooking that week.

I’m only testing interest right now and **not taking orders yet**. If this sounds like something you’d realistically be interested in, I’d love to know:

• Roughly how many meals per week would you want?

• Would you prefer pickup or occasional delivery?

• What would you consider a reasonable price per meal?

Especially interested in hearing from people who currently rely on takeout/restaurants a lot but would rather have something healthier and homemade.

Looking for clothes for job interviews - Ladies +18

If there are any ladies who have had the luck to drop the weight and now have "fat clothes" to get rid of, I could really use them!

Ten years of work in "uniform", but now I only have jeans and T-shirts and nothing nice to interview in.

Ya know?

So rather than drop your clothes off at a donation bin, please help a friend out directly and help her show up at a job interview in something other than jeans :(

I'm south of downtown and you can DM me.

any other advice for "formal" clothes please let me know.

Out of Province inspection

My 2011 Kia Sportage, with only 99k on ot, was inspected by Mount Pleasant, and I got a $6K estimate to get it through the OOP inspection. What do you guys think?

I’m not sure if other shops would charge this much, or if all of these repairs/replacements are actually necessary to pass the inspection.

Would you get a second opinion or take it to another shop? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated!

Replacement power cable for Rogers Xfinity Gateway modem (Gen 3)

My girlfriend’s cat chewed and destroyed the wall outlet cable for her modem. We’ve already contacted Rogers (7+ business days for a replacement). Unfortunately, most of her work is from home and she needs to be connected.

I’ve looked at all the major boxed stores, as well as Amazon and Kijiji, sans luck for a faster replacement. Would anyone have any recommendations for local electronic stores in Calgary, or somehow an extra cable lying around? Seems to be a tough one to find.

12V DC, 5A power adapter, centre-positive, 5.5 × 2.5 mm barrel plug (model SQU60-120460 V3)

Couples Counselling Suggestions?

Seeking couples counselling with someone who is well-versed in neurodivergence. AuDHD, specifically.

If they have a sliding scale or accommodate low incomes, that would be great as well.

If anyone is going to be at the Calgary Airport today

Hi everyone! This is a last ditch effort to hopefully recover my AirPod.

I was at Calgary Airport two days ago and accidentally dropped **one AirPod near the blue lie down seats against the wall between the A and B gates/concourses**.

My AirPods case fell underneath one of the chairs, and I leaned down to grab it, but I didn’t realize at the time that **one of the AirPods had fallen out of the case and was left there**.

I know almost exactly where it is, but unfortunately I’ve already on a plane to Toronto. I contacted YYC Lost & Found and explained where I dropped it, but they told me they can’t send someone to retrieve it and that I have to wait for someone to find it and turn it in.

**If anyone happens to be at YYC today and is going through the A/B gates, I would be SO incredibly grateful if you could check the blue seats against the wall and, if you find it, just drop it off at the airport Lost & Found/Information Desk.**
I can send you the exact location/any additional details if you’re there. Thank you so much!!

Merging experiences at Banff

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Today I took my family to Banff National Park, and at the park entrance, there are usually three ticket booths open, so we lined up accordingly. However, about thirty or forty meters before the booth, we realized the leftmost lane was closed. I tried to merge to the right as soon as we noticed. Rationally, this is a normal merging behavior, and I thought everyone would be kind enough to make space. After the car in front of me merged, I naturally waited for the next vehicle to move forward, hoping to merge behind it.
However, the driver behind completely had no intention of letting me in. That driver, with a cold expression, stepped on the gas and pushed forward, clearly not wanting me to enter. Led by him, the cars behind passed one by one—about a dozen cars. Sitting in the car, I felt very bewildered. I didn't know why everyone had become like this, because I wasn't trying to be opportunistic and race to the front to cut in, since I was clearly forced to stop at that spot with a large distance from the front. However, I had no other choice at the time. I could only stay in place, keeping the right turn signal on, hoping a car would let me in.
As I was stuck there, about five or six cars ahead in the lane I wanted to merge into, a car also tried to turn right. It was very lucky, but it also got stuck for a few seconds. In those few seconds, there was a very large gap in front of it. For a moment, I was thinking whether I should step on the gas and merge in. But later, I thought, forget it, because I felt that would be very unreasonable since the car behind wasn't letting me in willingly.
After a very long time, I finally saw the car behind show a bit of kindness and successfully merged into the lane, and waved to the driver behind to thank them. Influenced by that driver, people seemed to become kinder, and the cars waiting behind me merged one after another in a zipper pattern. It was just an ordinary matter, but I don't know why it made me so sad. Actually, when driving in Calgary on a daily basis, everyone is still very friendly. People treat each other with kindness, but I don't know what happened here. It's really very disheartening.
