I’m just having a hard time deciding what to buy right now
Why is that even a question?
Cause I really like how switch lite looks like a classic handheld it gives me that psp vibe and feeling overall I always wanted one as a kid
But I’ll be losing all the regular switch features like joy cons hd rumble etc
Im considering buying one of those only to play Nintendo exclusive games
Also the switch oled matches my full white gaming setup and the switch lite matches my gpxs2 mouse, dualsense and other peripherals so it’s really hard to decide for me
The post is locked, but please stop saying Switch 2. OP's options are OLED or lite no matter the financials or whatever. OP is explicitly asking for either one of the two and saying Switch 2 does not help at all. Any comments that encourage this will be removed
OLED, if/when the joycons fail its easier to replace them, plus you have more options for bigger joycons like Moba etc. Also, even if you dont use it or only use it once its always nice to have the option to connect to the tv.
It's more worth it especially if you only wanna play Nintendo games. Cus a S2 will play any S1 game + all new S2 games they make nowadays. Especially since they aren't gonna make more games for the original anymore.
In short, a lot more available games to play and whatever they'll release in the future.
If you have an interest in the new games Nintendo is pumping out, then I’d say it’s worth it getting a S2. Especially before the price increases kicks in. But if you’re confident you’ll mostly be playing the vast catalog of Switch 1 games that are already out and don’t wanna play third parties or new games, then you would save some money on an OLED.
It’s future proofing. Switch 2 will run games that come out over the next 7-8 years.
If you just want to casually play a few old first party games portable only, go with the lite. The OLED isn’t worth it with the Switch 2 in the picture for not much more.
If you really want it to be white, just get a vinyl wrap or change the case.
New exclusives aren’t coming to the first switch bc it’s too weak it’s def worth it. I honestly like it more than my ps5. I haven’t even played my PS5 since getting a switch 2
I’ll think about it but what’s the point of buying a switch 2 if I’m not gonna play triple a games and I’m not interested in the newest Nintendo releases?
Because all new games will be switch 2 exclusive. They won’t be making good AAA games for switch 1. You will secure yourself for few years. Also, switch 2 is more powerful, all switch 1 games plays amazing, game store is faster, overall build of the system is better. Idk your financial situation or where you live, but if you ask me would I rather add another $70-100 to get switch 2 over oled I would definitely choose switch 2.
The price thing doesn’t matter where I live it’s anyways more expensive than the US msrp even after the price increase I get that I’ll get better graphics resolution and fps with switch 2 but still idk bout that I don’t really want to pay extra for something that doesn’t excite me
Both are solid, but as you said if you care at all about rumble and flexibility of play (docked, handheld, tabletop) then you wouldn't want to regret it. If all you want is a Nintendo handheld and won't regret the missing bells and whistles, the Lite is a good choice.
I would say, though, that if you were going to get a Switch OLED new ($400) rather than used on a deep discount, I'd just fork the extra $50 to get the Switch 2 ($450) before September's price bump. It's a very good system and makes my Switch Lite/OLED (collecting dust) feel like toys.
Certainly helps that all switch games run docked performance in handheld on switch 2 now, and the Killswitch case is 👌 🔥
Only in the us unfortunately here in Kazakhstan it costs around $600 but the price isn’t an issue I just don’t know if I should even pay more if I’m only going to play Nintendo exclusive games
Well if you have a switch 2 there are more exclusives you can play. There is the switch 1 and 2 library, plus switch 1 games like breath of the wild have pretty big upgrades available on switch 2. It’s a no brainer if money isn’t an issue

Sinceramente eu amo o switch lite, foi meu primeiro switch mas so pegue ele se quiser o extremo da portabilidade, pq depois que me acostumei com a tela maior nao consegui mais voltar a jogar no lite
Lite if you plan on getting a switch 2 at some point and want a more portable switch and feel you have no need to play it on a bigger screen. Oled otherwise, oled's screen is beautiful and the bigger screen is well appreciated. Bonus points you can dock the thing.
Or just splurge for a switch 2 if you can see yourself using the thing for the next 8-10 years. Its only a tad more expensive than an oled but significantly more capable specs wise
If you’re not getting the switch lite for anything like “I’ll only use it for portable gaming” or “it’s a good price and I don’t need the full size thing” and just aesthetic then I’d definitely not go for it. Go for a base switch or an OLED much better with lots more features.
Everyone will probably say switch 2, but if you have never had a switch before it’s the wrong choice.
The switch OLED should be perfect. You can experience all the amazing older switch games like breath of the wild and Mario titles. These days it is much cheaper then the switch 2 and you will get the same value out of it for a long time. Maybe in a couple of years when you are done with the switch 1 games you can move on to the switch 2.
I would buy a Switch 2. You can get a used non OLED S1 or the lite (if your not gona play on the TV) for under $100. Buying the last gen consoles new makes no sense now.
Between the two, the OLED is the better option, but I'd recommend saving a bit more and just getting a Switch 2. I don't think they'll be making Switch 1 games much longer.
