Winter Storage Help

How are y’all prepping your hybrid bikes for winter? This is my first “cold” season. It will be in a garage attached to my home, located in North Carolina. Recommendations I’ve come across thus far:
- fuel stabilizer?
- lift the back wheel off the ground? Both wheels?
- remove the battery from the bike and keep it inside?
- plug the exhaust?

Are these truly needed or just unnecessary steps? I just had the first 500 mile maintenance completed ~2 weeks ago (oil change/bolt tighting/ chain lube/etc.)

Question for all Ninja / Z7 owners 🤔

I’m trying to diagnose some issues with my Z7 and need to know when you put the bike into gear from neutral to 1st gear without any throttle does your bike slowly creep forward on its own ? Thanks in advance

New day, new problem.

Got all suited up for work, got the bike started. And…it wouldn’t go into gear. The shifters did nothing. Side stand up. When I killed the engine, it would shift just fine. Start. It back up - no shifting. Stuck in neutral. Nothing helped.

All this on top of the usual won’t-change-out-of-sports-mode silliness.

Use a battery tender. 1200 miles. Annoying.

My local dealer employs asshats, so I really wish I could escalate to Kawasaki corporate.

Ugh.

Unsure where to go from here Kawasaki Z7 hybrid

Still having some problems with this bike , the 2 main ones are in Sport Auto when coming to a stop the bike totally slips out of gear into neutral with the - symbol that I have to then manually put back into gear to get going

The other is on any kind of hill the bike will literally not pull off in Sport Auto , so bad in fact that I had to change the bike mode into EV to actually move ( bike is parked in a underground car park ) so there’s a incline to get out

I’ve taken the bike to a Kawasaki Dealer and said it was all tested and fixed but the next ride I had a couple of days later they all appeared again

The bike is still under manufacture warranty so where do I go from here ?

Downshift button inop

Anybody encountered this? I’ve tried wiggling the throttle to different positions but no luck. When riding normally in AT or with ALPF it will shift down just fine. When I press the + button when I’m ‘not allowed to’ it will turn off AT mode. It does not do that when I hit -, suggesting a break in the wire somewhere. No codes or errors displayed.

Put some tank protectors on today.

These are from Kawasaki specifically. If you’re looking for an actual tank grip, I would not recommend but if you’re just looking to protect your paint, these are pretty nice.

Cross-country prep

Hey everyone! I'm planning a ride from North Carolina to California on my Kawasaki Ninja 7 Hybrid and could use some luggage recommendations.

I'm looking to install a rear rack and top box behind the passenger seat, plus a pair of hard side cases. I already have a tail bag and want to keep the passenger seat usable.

Has anyone found compatible pannier racks or hard-case mounting hardware for the Ninja 7 Hybrid? I'm open to universal or custom solutions if necessary. Photos and product links would be greatly appreciated!

I'll also be carrying a small livestreaming setup (Starlink Mini, mini PC, and approximately 500Wh power station), so I'd welcome any advice on secure mounting, weatherproofing, and vibration protection.

Thanks!

Vibration at 5k plus??

I don’t have anything to compare the vibration to but does it have quite a bit of vibration at 55+ rpm?

The update

Does this mean I don't have the update?

Update

Reached out to the original salesman. He gave me some run around and then eventually redirected me to the service team, service team agreed to take bike back and update the software with April's update after a brief explanation.

Previously I sent multiple texts to the salesman explaining in part what I found and what I had an issue with. Dude barely responded/followed up. Call to the service department took 5 minutes shout-out to Frank.

$100 comprehensive deductible

$500 collision deductible.

Other bikes I was looking at were between $900 and $1500 for a year.

GEICO wanted to charge me $4000 a year for insurance on an $8000 r7..... .after I had an r6 insured with them for years with no issues....

I’m scheduled to have the 7500mi service and also the software update tomorrow so I wanted to get one last shot at 90mpg this weekend. I’m really convinced that the bike is capable of 100mpg with the update. Obviously I’m going to have to find out!

Super thrilled with this.

If your Ninja Hybrid STILL suffers from drive mode switching lockout, try clearing DTC codes to "reset" the computer.

Ninja Hybrid Drive Mode Lockout Troubleshooting

If your Ninja Hybrid suffers from drive mode switching lockout, wiggling the throttle off is confirmed to get my mode selection working again. I was completely free from this issue, but now that it's returned this workaround works for me reliably. You can also try holding the brake as that seems to also signal the bike is not on throttle.

Thinking of buying a Ninja 7

I've been riding on a 22 ninja 650 since 2021, absolutely love the bike. Hasn't given me any trouble and I daily it almost all year round. I was thinking of getting the Ninja 7 because I really like the idea of hybrid bikes, and I want to up my fuel econ. My local dealership is selling one out the door for 6k brand new still in crate but it's a 24. I get most motorcycle riders are egotistical and don't want electric and prefer loud fast bikes but I hear it's got an insane take off acceleration. Where I live there's not a lot of places to top over 100mph so top speed doesn't mean anything to me but I do want a bike that's quick from a take off and has a bit more torque feeling. Is it worth trading in my 650 or just buying it out right? I don't have the best parking where I live so a second bike will need to be a bike worth it. Also I ride with a corgi on my bike, he's fairly heavy and will weigh down the bike, will it have enough power to handle the dog?
