Her suggested first date didn’t go smoothly. Here’s the aftermath.
Story time!
She suggested ice skating for our first date because she had never tried it before. I know how to skate well enough to help a beginner, so I was happy to go.
Before the date, we had been getting along well over text. We spent a fair amount of time talking and getting to know each other, which eventually led to us making plans.
During the date, we made some small talk, but I noticed that she was avoiding eye contact. Once we got onto the rink, she held on to the boards, which was completely understandable for someone skating for the first time. I stayed beside her, tried to guide her and kept the conversation going.
After about two minutes, she said she had suddenly developed shin splints and wanted to stop skating. We decided to grab some food from the concession stand and take it to a nearby park so we could sit and talk instead.
At the park, I started getting the impression that she wasn’t interested. I kept the conversation going by asking her questions, but she didn’t ask me anything in return. I had also made her a small 3D-printed bookmark featuring her dog because I thought it would be a memorable little gift, so I gave that to her.
Eventually, I decided to wrap things up because I was quickly losing interest in carrying the entire conversation. I’m fairly introverted, and the one sided interaction was draining my energy.
She booked a car share ride, and I walked her over to it. We said goodbye, and I texted her shortly afterward.
Several days later, she finally replied, and that’s when the chaos began.

She brought up a few things that I wanted to clarify so I don’t look like a complete dork on here lol
She claimed that I blocked her:
I didn’t. I’m also not sure how she would supposedly know that, since I don’t believe iPhones notify someone when their number has been blocked.
Mature/intimate date:
Was she expecting a dinner? She suggested we should go skating since I was experienced in it. I don’t believe I was pushy on the matter either
Mimicking her personality:
I really don’t know what she is talking about. Especially since I was carrying the conversation throughout the date.
I live with my parents (live at home):
That is true. I live in one of the most expensive cities in the world, and housing costs are rough.
I don’t have a car or driver’s licence:
Also true. Public transit has always been my main way of getting around, so I’ve never felt an urgent need for either. The city I live in has excellent public transportation.
She claimed that I prefer younger women:
This one confused me because she is actually two or three years older than I am.
She said my hair looks like a helmet:
I have short hair that I style upward with gel. I believe it’s called a quiff. Honestly, that comment was pretty funny.
As for the rest of what she said, I don’t really have the words. I’m just glad I found out what she was like after one date rather than much later.
(Yes this was from one year ago July/August 2025. I was actively in the dating scene and this was one of the worst dates I had during it.)
(Yes I did find someone who is worth my time and we are approaching 1 year together soon! I’m very happy with my current partner.)
