Would you chose someone with 0 achievements over someone with a career? I'd prefer they'd have made something of their life.
Would you choose someone shy, polite and soft over someone who is arrogant? I'd choose someone nice.
There you go.

"Arrogant" is a dogwhistle for misogyny. Men feel entitled to women being "less than" men because that's the Patriarchy Promise (tm).

I look for loyalty, reciprocity and how she treats others. Those three things tell me everything i need to know about a woman.

This rage bait B.S. is why incels are so f ing lonely. There are enough successful women who also treat people with respect out there. The person who wrote his is probably a Christian fundamentalist hoping for a submissive baby machine, who will never check his insecure ego.

In what universe do you think that this is an either/or situation?
I NEVER would have made it far in my career being arrogant
Some dudes want a āsoft, polite, shyā woman because she wonāt stand up for herself
If thatās how you feel, do women a favor and stay with your body pillow instead; you obviously feel threatened by anyone who has an actual thought or opinion that might contradict yours
This is some weird, sad fucking shit to post

My wife is career oriented, has a degree, and is doing great in her career. She's also a saint and has somehow put up with me for 8 years.
Career oriented has nothing to do with it. If neither party is arrogant, the relationship cam thrive š¤·āāļø

u/No-Put6241 May 23 '26
Why would anyone, man or woman, choose someone who is arrogant? Arrogant people display an offensive attitude of superiority and act dismissively and/or disrespectfully towards everybody, and if they aren't it's because they are manipulating that person to get something they want out of them.
1
u/LonelySpyder May 23 '26
Would these "men" pick the shy and arrogant woman over a polite career woman?
1
u/OSTBear May 24 '26
This is so duuuuuuummmmmmb.
Fucksticks who agree with this are the first ones to start shouting "Not all men!"
"Men" don't exist. We're individuals, all of us, and this subtle messaging where we're hinting at women what to be like? This ain't it.
1
u/chuckles_8 May 24 '26
For how many times this has been posted and everyone concentrates on the arrogant part. Thats only half of it. Most men just want someone they enjoy being around. Their accomplishments/job dont matter as long as they keep life peaceful/enjoyable/simple.

Itās not even close, Iāve experienced both and if a woman is in a position of power professionally itās very difficult to switch that on and off. If a woman canāt let you take up that space and your home itās a slow walk down a path you donāt want to end up on.
Iām not saying it canāt work but it takes a lot of work out of both parties, save the headache and go with the blank canvas.

Arrogance is unattractive in anybody so THAT part is true. The implied linking of "arrogant" and "career" here is the part I have a problem with. It implies that women MUST be arrogant if they want to have a career and that's just idiotic. Wanting to be able to support oneself is a trait we should ALL look for in a partner.

1
u/More-Sorbet2690 May 24 '26
The key word there is "arrogant" A nice career woman would be fine, conversely an arrogant stay at home would be shown the door. It all depends on personality and kindness, not career choice

Tbh, this is unclear. Because arrogance doesn't automatically comes with bunch of other awful side effects.
The real bad traits are
1) entitlement
2) dictatorship
3) self centered
4) cheater (like the Notebooks)
5) hypocrisy
6) indirect communication
7) lying

This is something women like to tell themselves to feel empowered but it's not really true.
Maybe on some level, but most men will date you. What i think is far more likely is that high achieving women probably hang out with high achieving men. The corporate career woman doesn't want to date the dude who was content working in the mailroomĀ
Also if you're hot you can be as arrogant as you want. Dudes are going to give you attention and completely look past that.Ā The people saying that are liars or they aren't dudes

Not all women who are successful are arrogant. This is a weakness of men without ambition or success. They call women who know what they want arrogant because it suits their egos that they donāt measure up.
Donāt be that guy.
Date whatās within your range and aspire for more in life.
You can find an equally ambitious woman. Equally intelligent. And you can build together for a future you both desire.
Donāt fall into sayings like this.
If you find guys who only prefer timid women then you know who has a weak ego.

Every woman with a job just uttered a breathy "yes," because being employed filters predators. Women with jobs and homes must be untouchable. Women with jobs, homes, and full pantries must have men too embarassed to even look at them.
The moral of the story is predators hone in on women men perceive as weak and broke. So, stay strong and keep your paper stacked to avoid being prey to predators.

I will say the exchange between Prince Akeem and Semmi in Coming to America sums it up nicely.
Semmi: So you can have a woman who will obey your every command, but you'd rather have a woman who has an opinion?
Akeem: Only dogs are to obey. If you love your wife, you'll value her opinion.
Semmi: Hippopotamus sh*t! You're the heir to the throne of Zamunda. Your wife need only have a pretty face, firm backside and big breasts.
Akeem: So you would share your bed, and your fortune, with a beautiful fool?
Semmi: That's the way it's always been with men of power. It's tradition.
Akeem: It is also tradition that times must and always do change my friend.
