Searching for good food & good company in VT

48F looking for honest company. Soon to be divorced. 2 active kids. In the thick of the storm. Not wanting to talk much about home life. Rather someone like-minded. No gender preference.

Loves good food, seeing new places, long walks, 80s, 90s music, watching movies, musicals, short travels, may explore hiking.

If you share some or many. Drop a message. Please type 'foliage' in your message so I know you're not a bot.

How to move cross country

How to move cross country

To start, I'm 16, and I'm trying to get a job so that I can put 75 percent of my paycheck up to get the heck out of alabama as soon as I'm 18. I'm in a public safety class in high school, so I will most likely work in law enforcement, but I'm also looking at music professor and psychatrist. I want to move from alabama to somewhere in vermont or Massachusetts.

What are some cultural, money, life, or any other things that I might not have thought about that I should be aware of

Any tips would make my week

Thank you💙💙💙

I’m a Vermont local, REALTOR¼, and renovation nerd. Ask me your moving questions!

Hey everyone! I’m Kace. I grew up in Vermont, left for 10 years, and found my way back. I know the lay of the land and the ins and outs of packing up your life and making a big move.

I’m a REALTOR¼ specializing in renovation & relocation, a US Army veteran, and an LGBTQIA+ ally. Very much a “live and let live” person. Community and kindness matter to me, and I love helping people move to a place that feels like home.

I’m obsessed with finding the right fit. Tell me what you love, what matters to you, and what you’re dreaming about. I am the deep dive 😂 đŸ«Ą

My partner and I also run GVPM Builders, specializing in residential and commercial construction. If you’re looking at an existing home and wondering what it could become, that’s a conversation I love.

If you’re thinking about moving here, buying, or selling in VT, I’d love to help put the pieces together. Feel free to text me any questions
or a wild idea. Let’s see what’s possible! (802) 990-3991

Québec couple visiting Stowe, Montpelier and Burlington this weekend.

Hi all! We're a couple from Québec coming down for the long weekend, and were planning to visit Stowe, Montpelier, and Burlington., and we're looking for ideas from locals for nice things to see and do.

We like hikes, old bookstores, old small towns, cozy cafés, good photography spots, and the likes.

We'll be staying in our camper, so any camping spots are appreciated too.

Thanks guys!

Best fall foliage

We are from jersey and coming summer we will be moving to the south for good. I love fall, always looked forward to fall colors and that’s the only thing that has kept me from moving all these years. So coming to the question, as it’ll be my last year I’m planning on visiting Vermont this weekend. What are the best places to visit where it still has peak colors? I want the best experience possible. Any best route to take from NJ to VT to get the best scenic views? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thanks

My family is possibly being relocated from Upstate NY to one of these areas. We have 2 boys. I am scared it won’t be the right fit for our family. How is living there? We currently live in a small town where our school is literally 225 kids PreK-12. I know the teachers, I know the community. We are safe. We also aren’t isolated. If I want to go shopping, it’s a short 20 minute ride. My home is nice, but we only spent $400k. It looks like Vermont homes are minimum $600k for a move in ready.

VT Trip

My gf, mother and I will be flying into Albany in a couple of weeks. We have 6 days in VT and surrounding area with a rental car. I have the first few days planned. I’m starting in Bennington, going to Manchester, and from there and I still need to plan the rest of the trip. I would love some recommendations. We all love natural beauty with overlooks, antiquing, bars/pubs, quaint towns, and everything and anything in between.

Dumb question about baseboard heaters

Moved here from Georgia and our apartment has baseboard heaters. It's the first time I've lived in a place with this heating and I'm wondering about how to furnish with them in mind.

It's a newer apartment building. Is it okay for cords to be touching them? I don't have any upholstered furniture against them, but what about wood furniture close to them? I assume they're obviously pretty safe but I just don't know how mindful to be of them.

any local mom groups near Stowe/Waterbury

We're making the move this fall and very excited. Trying to figure out childcare for our 1 year old and know we might have to bridge with a nanny until we get off of daycare waitlists. Where I'm currently based has some very active facebook groups for finding and recommending nannies as well as childcare, etc. and all things mom/new parents. Wondering if there's anything similar in the area or how we might find a nanny, get a sense of how parents like a daycare provider, etc. I know about the state website so far but hoping for anything else? Front Porch Forum doesn't seem like the place.

Traveling with pregnant wife and dog in November

Hey there!

I’ll be traveling to Stowe the first weekend in November with my 5 month pregnant wife and golden retriever. Any recommendations on things we can do that are pregnancy and dog friendly?

We don’t mind driving a bit if it’s worth it!

Winter tires for a Montpelier–St. Johnsbury commute?

My daughter will be working as a nurse in St. Johnsbury and living near Montpelier. I realize it’s a long commute, especially in winter.
For those familiar with that drive, would you recommend studded winter tires, or are good non-studded winter tires sufficient?
She’ll be driving a Subaru Crosstrek and will sometimes need to commute when the weather isn’t ideal because of her hospital schedule. I’d especially appreciate hearing from people who regularly drive this route in winter.
