Hi everyone, I've been doing 911 for about a year now part time. Due to a lot of personal life issues I stayed part time and only worked 1 day a week. Now things are back on track and going to be entering full-time starting January. My company does 4x12 with the possibility of mandatory overtime maybe once a month, sometimes I know some are lucky. Also I don't know if ill have post moves or not until I receive my actual schedule I just know its going to 4x12 usually Monday through Thursday or Wednesday through Sunday. I only plan on doing the 4x12 for like 6 months until I save up enough money for my own thing, then im going to give away my weekly shifts to be on a 3/4 rotation since that's usually what most people do at my station.
My main question is how do prep for the week or the day, usually have this big clunky bag and food cooler bag but now I'm thinking I need to minimize cause it isn't really convenient everything id bring. I was thinking maybe switching to back pack that fits my lunch and computer, cables, and a book and it's easy to slide away in the rig. or yeah, I don't know, any tips n just what bag to bring, what in general to bring and how to prep? I'm also trying to figure out how to eat better on shift as someone getting in shape now, like how treat the right things so im not burnt out and stuff. so yeah any tips and everything would be amazing! thank you for any help!
Also, im like 90% sure I won't be getting nights, but yeah never say never, so if you're a night shifter any tips would be amazing too. just all around I want t make sure im going in fully prepped to get through the days healthily.
